  1. I have not seen Dickson County this year, but have seen them many times in years past. I read somewhere that they were throwing the ball a little more this year but that they realied on good ol' smash mouth football. Indy's D is very impressive against the run and their offense can handle runnig against one of the best D's in Franklin's. Should be a very physical game!
  2. 1. Franklin- looking for Sellars and Campbell to have figured it out by playoffs, coach has to put the ball in the hands of his playmaker. 2. Riverdale- something missing 3. Gallatin- strong but not strong enough, region 5 always falls to region 6! Turn out the lights.... 4. Independence- its a long season 5. Oak Ridge- Dark Horse Just1NP - Great Job! D-B like the red sox....just don't finish well
  3. I know there are alot of great athletes who have chosen not to be wrestlers for just that reason!
  4. I'm still pondering the chant "KILL, KILL" I don't know that I've ever heard that one at a football game. I've seen it written on plenty of cheerleader's banners, (ie. Kill the Eagles) but it takes on a whole new meaning when 1,000 students are chanting it in the stands. That may be a little too much, what do you think? I'm pretty sure administration would step in if they started chanting " Break Their Bones"
  5. We'll I hate it that you think I "blatently disrespect" my Rebels. Does my pointing out that we have not had the kind of big play punt and kick off return play constitute disrespect in your mind. To me it is a simple observation. I didn't criticize the existing return people, in fact I think Casey Dykes may be one of the best athletes in Williamson Co. If however you are familiar with Franklin over the past many years you will know that K/O and punt returns for TDs have played a huge role in close wins. I have stated that Franklin's O-Line is struggling, the fact that they could not establish the run game, while Independence did, IMO, is proof of that. Other than those two observations, I really don't know what you are talking about. If all I ever did was get on CoachT and say ...The Rebels are great, The Rebels are great, I think I would be a gong sounding in the wind. I came on here and said I thought Franklin would lose to FRHS and Independence this season, thus go 8-2. I stated factual reasons for my opinion. I think the reasons I stated were both fair and factual. There never has been "blatent disrespect," and there never will be. There will be compliments of outstanding play and factual discussion of strengths and weaknesses relative to other teams. If pointing out that a team has a portion of their game weaker than their opponent's constitutes "disrespect" for you than so be it. Having had three sons to play football for Franklin and they having had the time of their lives on Friday nights, why in the world would I want to "blatently disrespect Franklin." I think you need to rethink your comment.
  6. Franklin is missing its special team's punch. While John Thomas is doing a great job in the kicking department, the kick off and punt returns have not been as sensational as in years past. Where is Joe Bell when you need him?
  7. I still say when Centennial gets their act together Williamson County will have 5 great 5A teams..... Keep yor eyes on Gallatin folks.... Its a ways down the road but mark my words Independence v. Gallatin wll be a great game!
  8. No Way !!!!! Tell me that score is wrong!
  9. Turnovers aside, I think Independence had a better offensive line to run behind, certainly in the second half. A great defense can keep you in ball games but not having a great line to run behind and inexperienced QBs does not make for a consistent or potent scoring machine.
  10. and as they turn and head into the stretch....
  11. Can't say this was an upset in my book. Franklin has two very good sophomore QBs. But there is a tremendous difference between being a sophomore and being a junior. After seeing the first half of the Indy Page game I saw enough to realize that Indy was a very complete team. Franklin is still struggling with their offensive line and needs time to gain experience at QB. Franklin has a very fast and very good defense but they ran up against a physical team with a better offense. (Coach Clayton's offense may be too QB dependent!) I said the one with the fewest turnovers would win... looked like it would be Franklin at 17-0 (with an interception returned for a TD) but that's why they play for 4 quarters. Several players were injured tonight ( hope all well soon ) and there were some ferocious hits, a great crowd, great bands. No offense but Zach Cordell has a long way to go yet before I would compare him to a TC Jennings, or any of the past QBs from Franklin or Brentwood for the past four years. He may well get there... but don't count your chickens
  12. Have I really missed the boat here or has Centennial just decided to boycott football as a team. I hate to see the program at this level. The talent pool in this school has been, and probably will be, great for years to come. It's so ironic that The Tennessean ran an article Friday on the success of the spread offense!!!!
  13. Film and discipline or substitution will take care of the penalties, enough fire power to get past Ravenwood and Father Ryan, a sophomore QB who is getting better with every game, a defense that is arguably the best in 5A.......
  14. Re-bels, Re-bels, Re-bels....Franktown
  15. Well let me start chewing on some crow by first saying that it appears that Franklin has found a QB and their defense is as good, if not better than I had said before the season. Congratulations to Howard "Grandaddy" Gamble on having still another kicker put one through at 44 yards just before the half!!
  16. That was 2004 and while Tim gets credit for picking it up and THUNDERING 80 yards it was actually Mac Hibbett that stripped the hand off and to me was the real hero. Centennial was ahead and driving with three minutes left, on FHS 20, they could have taken a knee three times, turned it over on downs, and as well as their defense was playing, have won the game. By the way, I believe Tim Leach was the best lineman to play in Williamson County in the last six or seven years. Started both ways at tackle for three years and never missed a down . If he was 6'3" instead of 5'10 and 270 he would have and perhaps should have been the most highly recruited lineman. Doubt their were ever any faster from sideline to sideline. Its a shame college football is played with cookie cutter 6'3" 275 pound lineman.
  17. Great point... Like TDC said, I think that the one year 2003 when they had the two lineman that went to Vandy and the fast QB (that ran down Joe Bell from Franklin from behind at the half to save that game) was the only team that was competetive with Riverdale of late.
  18. I'm an Indy believer, but they have a long way to go to beat out Brentwood / Franklin fans .... great fans given their short existence... but bar none is a little over the top!
  19. Got to agree with hit or be hit....ryan offense just a little too much for even Franklin's defense. It would take a number of lucky breaks in addition to a great defense to pull this one off. If Franklin offense has sputtered before ...no reason to think that Irish D won't cause even more problems for this "green" offense.
  20. I've heard BGA's team is pretty small up front in the trenches. Could that be a problem?
  21. Yeah but Indy is destroying those no win teams, and I guess that's the part that has me believing they could win the Region. The point 2priceless makes is a great one. In the past Franklin has been able to make the big play in a close game to pull it out. Immaculate reception to Joe Bell over Brentwood in 2003, Halfback throwback to QB against Antioch 2004 etc. But I characterize those more as Danny Nowell big plays than Craig Clayton. In fact I would point out that to my knowledge there have been no game winning big plays yet under Coach Clayton. I would think that with Sellars now being the apparent QB going foward that he would try to form a chemistry with Todd Campbell and perhaps they can make some big plays. The advantage that Independence has is that they look to already have their chemistry in place.
  22. I guess what I meant to say was if Riverdale dominated this game on the scoreboard then you'd have to say " Same ole Riverdale" if however this is a 10 pt or less game than you still have to wonder whether Riverdale is as elite as in past years. The scores so far make me wonder exactly what they have. Knowing that this is a huge rivalry game, I guess I can throw all that out the window. I'm hoping the Falcons can pull one off in The Pit
