  1. Never doubt the "power" of my DAD the shadow knows!!
  2. Uh-oh, RTB..................you may have awakened the "sleeping shadow". You may be in line for derogatory mail. Coach Spears and Coach Pigue are some of the best friends............too little too late (LOL) sos
  3. I believe you did eat that bucket and probably a few more to boot. "LIL" in LILAL maybe a oxymoron..............I'm told that you've gotten a bit "porky" yourself (*note be carefull; if you hear banjo music). How did your Wave look; I got to think; they will be better than last year?? sos
  4. Did you carry him the chicken wings?? /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  5. Upon his departure, Paris, TN will more than likely be declared a federal disaster area. It might be very difficult in the months to come to locate a pig, chicken, or fish in Paris or surrounding counties. The man is the perfect-eating machine (think Jaws!!). What is even scarier is that the rest of the staff can also ravage all foodstocks. "Boy Wonder" and SpringTime certainly possess the "expert" ranking and capabilities. And for the ultimate survival of any and all Parisians..................please, please declare a military type curfew and close any and all buffet type restaurants.....................NO OPEN FOOD LINES!
  6. 8 TD's or 8 Pts..............?
  7. Did the Patriots have an actual 11 vs 11 scrimmage with Spring Hill or was it one those "work-days"?
  8. Elrod is way too old to roam any sideline anymore; He would get lost. I understand that Aric is getting him a new rocking chair, support hose, and has also thrown in an extra case of "DEPENDS". Pre-Game meals must include "soft" food.
  9. Let me get this straight................the secret to the very good Riverdale defenses was a drill called the "Snake". So this means if a team; any team does the "Snake"............so if even Cumberland County incorporates the "Snake" then the other teams in Region 3-5A will be unable to score. Please give me that drill!! Also, I know you really like Coach A, but he would really appreciate you not running over him with that bus you are driving................especially when you put it in reverse; it doubles up on the tracks on his back.
  10. Here is another way to look at this question. I think some teams run it JUST to hopefully be competitive; I really think the offense gives lesser talented teams a chance to compete...............there can only be one gold ball for one 5A team; it will generally go to one of 4-5 teams that simply have the best players and sometimes a bit of LUCK or good break! From last year, 2 teams come to mind about just being competitive because of the offense. One is Coffee County. I really think Bill Price did a great job of keeping Coffee Co. competitive and "I think" that the Wing offense was the primary reason..............he has had zero speed since he has been there, but they have competed............win a gold ball. NO CHANCE!! but they showed up and made you work!! Second is Wilson Central. they were picked dead last in a very tough Region 4-5A, but somehow were very competitive. Were they just very lucky or did their offense help them some?? I thought they competed quite nicely and might have won several other regions ( had they had a different membership). The Riverdale teams for the last (2) years are getting a bad rap for not winning a "gold ball" and the offense is getting all the blame..........how many skill kids have they had in the last 2 years that have signed in college? I think A and his staff have done a great job The last Rankin Riverdale team (3 years ago) also did not win a "gold ball" with easily the best team in the state........LOD! Is the offensive scheme to blame? No, it is not. See my above statement on "gold balls". I really think that Ravenwood and the first Smyrna "gold ball" benefited from the "perfect storm" and they sailed right into a championship. Were they the best teams those 2 years; probably not, BUT they got those championships...........and I congratulate them! IMO only
  11. this is all conjecture on my part............NOTHING based on any facts!! first...............Brown; I would say that has xeroxed his resume to all and any job that is open. I will be surprised if he is at Lebanon next season. second.............Crawford has probably already been offered the job and might have already agreed to take it third..............if Crawford goes to Oakland; then Lavergne may have an open head slot, because Hester will try to go HOME to Brentwood. this is purely conjecture............absolutely no facts other than the spec about Brown. sos
  12. On a different note.................... At the latest "rezoning" meeting THAT group of "concerned citizens" is bemoaning the fact thet the Metro school system has become segregrated again and wants to takes steps to continue to insure "diversity" is addressed in the next "zoning lunacy" that is implemented. NEWS FLASH TO THAT GROUP OF "CONCERNED CITIZENS Metro Schools are now 57 % Black, 35% White, and the rest..............thus the only way to continue more of this diversity lunacy is to BUS whites from the private schools or BUS whites from adjoining counties. *note I do not think you will ever be able to find a liberal-enough judge to pull that one off! The landmark "busing experiment" did completely wrecked a perfectly good school system along with some great neighborhood schools (both white and black). The "concerned citizens" of that previous time were so blinded by historic wrongs (and rightly so) that the "baby was thrown out with the bath water". I wish we had had a "reverse hindsight telescope" at the time, but we did not, BUT what we do have is the fact that the old "diversity" plan failed miserably, now get over and try something that makes sense! FACT: It is very difficult to force Americans to do things that they do not want to do; but some liberal-minded folks JUST KNOW that they are smarter than the un-washed masses (as they live in their gated communities and send their children to prestigious private schools), but they are the type folks we keep electing! (hmmm...........maybe they are smarter!! /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" )
  13. Uhoh............another man-crush /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> He would have a great shot, if he would smile every now and then. Much too serious! Does he wear too-tight underwear? (LOL). What about his neighborhood rival Aric at Wilson Central; MJ was picked to win a 4A region (with 5A enrollment) and probably will (*note .....good move by Perry to take advantage of TSSAA 20% rule) where WC was "dead-man walking" in Region 4-5A. Both coachers have done a great job, just a little conjecture in my part. the shadow do!
  14. Say what!.................Riverdale does have a very good group of coaches. I can assure you even though they run somewhat similar offenses; there were no visits by WC coaches or vice-versa. Do some of you just make this stuff up.............now the MJ coaches did visit with Riverdale at some point. Maybe you were confused with the letters of the alphabet. Actually, before this season begin................WC was "chuckle-bait" as to whether they would even win a game. Best at this type of offense..............would be Herschel Moore (he is the expert). WC's present offensive guy Wes Elrod worked with Coach Moore at CU (and brought the offense to WC the first time for the previous coach). I am sured that Coach Adeylott and his offensive cohort Terry Hemontoler (another very good coach) have talked to that old geezer from time to time..........fact is they are all very good friends and share stuff all the time.............and will try their darndest to beat each to death (LOL). Hope this gets the facts straight..............I know that many of you are certain that this type offense is very stupid to run because all are convinced that if you do not do what the colleges and pros do then you are brain challenged.............I wil not even try to debate this with any of you. Waste of time...........I guess they will just keep on running the "Metro" Jr-Pro stuff...............do one thing............ ask the Region 4-5A DC's how they like getting ready for this stuff in 4 days (LOL). /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  15. a question and a comment to the hunter of fowls! Question: Did Elmer Fudd ever go after Daffy? Comment: I do not think MJ is scared either, I think it was very smart to take advantage of the 20% loophole and stay at 4A. Here kitty, kitty!!
  16. Thats was my bad; I knew they were always in the class right under the largest class. When there were only 3 classes; they were a 2 A powerhouse and when the 5 classes was established in the early 90's; they were a 4A powerhouse and they were old-school Delaware style Wing-T that their coach basically imported from GA. They were very dominant and could have played with anyone. Also, 2P.............you stated that DC won state in 88 running Wing-T. Sorry as much as I wish that was correct; DC did not run the Wing. Now, they were a "grind you up" power football team, but it was not the Wing. Pearson, to my knowledge never ran the Wing. sos
  17. I said "no mas", but I can see the dog chasing its tail on this one............................but here is what I have a problem with. You say that it is OK to run Wing-T it if you are not very good because it will give you a chance; but if you have good players you need to run something else..............is this what you are saying? Then you say that Oakland has had some talent, but has not done very good running the Pro-I stuff, so they should run Wing-T, but if they have the players why wouldn't the Rankin offense be the ticket. Could it be the talent really was not that good or if Rankin had had them they would have been 10-0. What is it? When they had the older Thomas, they could have run the "hokie-pokie" and won big time......................actually Riverdale has "allowed" 2 lesser teams to win state titles the last 2 years. Rankin's offense had a bad night vs Oak Ridge......Aydellot's offense had a bad night vs Smyrna. If it happens during the regular season...it is a loss; if it happens during the playoffs........go home! But again "NO MAS" on the wing-T; ya'll got me!! /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> sos
  18. OK, you have convinced me...............he is running the wing-t! He has no chance of winning. All teams running this type offense are doomed to mediocrity. I surrender /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  19. Good points...............when Cleveland won it about 3 times in 2A; they could have also won 3A, but you probably will not agree on that. Funny thing, Smyrna had one of those Cleveland teams on the ropes at Smryna and let it get away. There wing-t was wicked BECAUSE they had great players (that will help whatever you run) Lets start again..............for both you and that tormented Riverdaleman. RIVERDALE WAS AN OPTION TEAM LAST YEAR from a double-wing look. Should they have thrown more.......probably! but if they can get 500 yards rushing on you, they shall not throw over 5 times. Other points............. Hillsboro's open zone................yep!! What about the Rankin zone!! (LOL) Coach Rankin has done a great job and is an excellent coach, but his offense is quite simple. At Smith Co., he was was good to a point, until he ran into better athletes.......he got it handed to him. He became a very pragmatic person; coach better athletes!! How do think his offense would look with average players? Look at Siegel & Franklin Co. thats what they run....both of them. Last wing team to beat Riverdale - Mt Juliet (in fact, it was their last region regular season loss)...........other fact OC on the MJ team is presently coaching at Riverdale............Hemontoler! In past 5 years, Smyrna has had a couple teams that could have won it all; along with about 6-8 other teams each year. Material-wise, I think they have had a couple of stronger squads. I think that they made themselves better last year because they ran the ball more and were more patient in their offense. You make good points! sos
  20. Got some bad news for you Cat...................Riverdale did NOT run the Wing-T last season! They were actually a dbl-wing option team. Think Navy and Air Force, old Ga Southern(who by the way do not have quite as good material as the N Dames and Tennessee's of the football world) offense. Those service academies run it so they might have a chance at winning............if memory serves me correct AF scared the the "Big Orange" a tad. Cat, congrats to Smyrna on winning the state..............a play was made when it needed to be made and the stars were aligned just right! Both times you played Riverdale, your offense did not crack 200 yds where Riverdale had over 500 yds rushing the first game and 300 offense the playoff game. Point is that their offense is actually pretty good and probably will be again this year...............*note QB's do not rush for a bunch of yds in a true wing-T offense.............Thomas had 167 first game and 150 the second game-------they be an option team. If you really want to classify what they do, I would say they are much closer to being an old-fashioned WISHBONE team, but definitely not Wing-T. Sorry! for the record............Coffee Co. is a Wing-t team. I know for some reason many of you are convinced that you cannot win with that old-timey offense, but there are some pretty good teams in Georgia and Florida that do very well in the offense. Another news flash...........there is a college team south of us that is running an even older offense called the Single-Wing (shades of Gen Neyland and Johnny Majors) and this year it will probably even be stronger with that big ole Tailback they have ................Teebo. Urban Meyer is getting closer to it all the time..............that league he came from has the most innovative offenses in college.............Boise State (from his old league) beat a fair team with one of the oldest plays in football "The Statue of Liberty". I actually think most college football is boring because most try to imitate the pro game...........if you seen one game you have pretty well seen them all..........I really like high school ball simply because of all the different and diverse flavors. I definitely respect your opinion, I just do not agree with it. What ever offense you run..............in a tough game; you better be able to run that thing off tackle. sos
