    Boyd and FRA

    FRA- many great players.....no quarterback
  2. boyd9, that was totally unnecessary. You can talk when your coaches actually have a state championship ring to put on their fingers.

    Boyd and FRA

sportsfan101, you are one funny guy. FRA and Lighthouse being game of the year! give me a break. There's no reason to say that. You and I both know that FRA's third team will (most likely) be on the field at the start of the 4th quarter. Do you have some kind of feud with FRA to be so negative against them? They play extemely hard every game and don't deserve your negativity and insults.

    Boyd and FRA

Since you mentioned some of the FRA players, I would have to say that out of all the talented players FRA has, Jason Clarke #20, in my opinion, is the best all-around player on that team. He starts both ways (WR and DE) and is also the kicker and punter. For his size (about 5'11 170) he hits extremely hard and is completely fearless. Just to give you an idea, against Boyd, Clarke had 20 total tackles (9 solo, 11 asists) along with 2 sacks. [Edited by KGP3428 on 9-17-02 5:59P]
  5. Boyd is a very beatable team. Their offense is very strong, but FRA's defense held the boyd to 10 points on offense with the td a result of blown coverage (the other td came off a punt block). They have some incredible talent and an exceptional defense, but it is my opinion that Boyd thinks that they are much better then they really are, and also seem lazy on the field as if they are just going through the motions. 6. This should be a close game and I hope that BGA pulls it out. And you are correct in saying that Harlin is a beast.

    Track

Wait, you only run a 2:25 in the 800, but can run a 4:40 mile (which is very competetive)? That just doesn't make any sense at all. Running a 4:40 means that you have to run to consecutive 800s with at least one of them under 2:25. For example an even-split 4:40 mile is a 2:20-2:20. Just think about it. You are either lying about the 4:40 or just don't run hard in the 800. Also, a :57 in the 200 for a guy is just ridiculous! You could push yourself in wheelchair for 200m and beat that time. Basically these times are completely bogus.
  8. The top team on the boy's side for the past two years has been FRA (back-to-back state team titles). Behind them has been Chatanooga Christian, who has fisinhed runner-up in state the past two years. It looks as though these two are again the teams to beat I expect one of them to win it all this year. Does anyone else know of any other teams who will compete?
  9. peacemaker, Bumbi is a phenom plain and simple. 17:20 in one of the first races of the year is not to shabby. Besides, last year as a freshman, Bumbi ran 16:07 at state in CC, and in the spring ran an unbelievable 3200 in 9:39 to finish 2nd at state. Anyways, having two freshmen in the low 16's this early in the season is incredible and I can't wait to see them run soon.
  10. What was the result of the DCA-FRA game??

    FRA???

    What's wrong with Mike Street???
  12. A 4.2 in the forty is nothin'. Last week, my 11 year old brother was timed at 3.45 FAT!!! Please don't come on here and claim that a high schooler runs a 4.2 in the forty because it's simply a false statement. Also, where is this speed demon during the state track meet?
  13. I'm pretty sure the guy is joking.

    FRA athletics

How can you possibly say that FRA has second tier athletics! Where have you been for the past five years? State Championships (team) won by FRA in past five years: Cross Country-1997,2000,2001 (3-time indiv. state champ) Baseball-2000 Track-1998,2001,2002 multiple indiviual state champions including 3 straight decathlon state champs (2000-2002) State Runners-up by FRA in past five years: Cross Country-1999 Baseball-1999,2001 Girls tennis-1998 Boys Golf-1997, (1996) Boys track-2000 State Tournament Appearances (team) in past five years: Girls Basketball-2002 Girls Soccer-2001 Boys Soccer-2001 Boys Tennis-1998,1999,2000 Girls tennis-2000 Boys Golf-1998 Football Playoff Appearances: 1997(10-2 Region champs),1998,1999,2000 To say that FRA athletics have "eroded" and become "second tier" is one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever heard or seen. It's just nuts. Count 'em, 7 team titles and 6 runners-up in just the last five years and in multiple sports. Oh yeah, FRA's high school tuition for the 2002-2003 school year I believe is just over $9,000.
  15. Personal Best Track Club (aka-Personal Best Academy), a Brentwood-based team coached by Gary Kinder and Brad Davies, had many qualifiers ranging from age 10-18. Some of the high schoolers who qualified are: Paul Thorne BHS- decathlon, PV Ben Ralls BGA- decathlon,pv,javelin,TJ Philipa Davies BA- heptathlon,100H,HJ,? Cassie Gullickson BHS- TJ (39'5"!),? Molly Kennedy HFA- HJ,TJ?,? Kevin Patterson FRA- decathlon Annie Santi BA grad- 100H,javelin,LJ Elizabeth Shell HH- PV, 100H? Rebecca Davis BGA- TJ Sarah Allen HFA- HJ,PV? Derek Youel BHS- 1500,800 G.J. Hudgens CPA- 400,800 Lauren Stewart BHS- TJ,HJ,? these are most all the high school qualifiers from PBTC in either intermediate or young men/women age group, but I might have left a few people out. Good luck to all in Knoxville.
  16. Yep, he made the mistake of only taking one pole (14'7 170lb) with him and ended up blowing right through it.
  17. Also at the Adidas Outdoor Championships in Raleigh, MBA standout, Will Denbo finished 6th in the shot put with a huge throw of 64'1/4". To find more info on this meet, go to <http://www.dyestat.com/> Another great performance to note, 2-time state decathlon champion and former FRA standout, Rob Bates, is currently in 2nd after day 1 of the decathlon at the USA Junior National Championships with a score of 3,675 points. The top 2 finishers in this event qualify (if they meet the qualifying standard) for the World Junior Championships in Jamaica. The complete results are at <http://www.usatf.org>
  18. Alright, lets say that a split occurs in which all of the privates are completly seperate from the publics. But after this happens the small rural publics that are on here complaining are still getting smashed by the better publics such as South Pittsburg and Cloudland. I highly doubt that people from South Pittsburg and the other really good publics are on this board debating over this issue. Why don't we create a 1/2A class for all the really small rural public schools who are always whining and complaining on here, (and some for good reason) along with the really small privates such as Lighthouse, NCS, etc who simply cannot compete with the bigger privates and publics. This way, the small publics and privates can duke it out with each other and in the end, all is fair.
  19. There were some great times at state by Freshmen such as Andrew Bumbolough of BA who finished 2nd in the DII 3200 in a very impressive 9:38.79. Also an 8th grader, G.J. Hudgens of CPA finished 6th in the A-AA 400 in 52.71. While this is a very good time for an 8th grader, G.J. has run sub-52 in early meets.
  20. Waller wasn't close to breaking any records, though he had a chance had he finished the 400m full-out. The 200m record belongs to Marquis Davis of Hamilton with a 20.84 set in 1999, though for some reason the TSSAA hasn't updated their site yet. Davis also holds the 100m record at 10.50. The 400m record still stands at 46.74 set way back in 1970, though Chris Jones of Riverdale came very close last year with his 46.82.
  21. Denbo is going to USC (Southern California)
