  1. FBE you need to look at the facts. Both teams had 2 players suspended for this weeks play-off game. Cleveland has not announce who was suspended yet waiting on the letter form the T$$AA. I don't know who is suspended from Rhea Co.
  2. 2 players were suspended from Cleveland High School. The starting middle linebacker and a nickel back. Probation is for one year. A fine of $1000. It's like parole. If you screw up again some more fines/suspension, jail time with the “Death Penalty”? I don’t know what probation consist of. Cleveland has a strong defense. The defense has kept Cleveland in ball games all year. The offense sputtered in the first five games where the defense held opponents to 7.8 points a game will the offense scored 20 per game. Now Cleveland offense is scoring 33 points per game and the defense at 10.7 per game (This number is deflated because of some TD's scored on the 2nd team and the Cheerleaders late in the game). Lavonte Barber has rushed for over 1500 yards this season. Jay Davis is around 700 yards and a trio of backs that range from 100 to 300 yards. Tanner Shamblin has passed for 400 yards this season as a sophomore. If anybody needs directions to Cleveland, just let me know.
  3. What does everybody think about this game. I do not know much about Knox West like I know the teams of Maryville and Central. Everybody know about Cleveland, the fight, and the TSSAA coming in to review tapes, ETC. What do I need to look for in Knox West.
  4. First thing Barber was not one of the suspended players. I do not know who the Rhea County Player(s) are at this time. They are meeting with the state is on Wednesday to see if any more fines etc. are needed.
  5. I played at Charleston High School (74-77 football seasons) where we had 21 people on the team. We could not line up to scrimmage at practice. We had coaches stand in as players. Charleston had around 150 students.
  6. The lower bracket last year hosted the semi-final no matter who plays. Last year, the winner of the Clevelald/Maryville winner hosted the semi's (Region 3 and 4). This year the upper bracket host the semi's (Region 1 and 2). It rotates every year from top to bottom. We have not heard about any players not playing yet from Cleveland or Rhea County.
  7. The Cleveland Rhea County game tonight was a close game on the field. Their was hard licks going on all night. There was trash talking going on from both sides of the ball tonight. Both teams played hard and went down to the last play of the game. The events that happened after the game will give both schools black eyes. The officials from both schools were getting togther after the teams had left the school. Cleveland High School had a police escort all the way to the river. I hope cooler heads will prevail and both teams go far in the playoffs.
  8. You'll need to dress warm. Rhea County is one of the coldest places I've ever been for a football game. The temp could be 70 degrees in Cleveland and get to Evensville and with the wind blowing of the mountain, it will 40 degrees. Cleveland needs to get off to a quick start and take Rhea County out of the game. Like '99 and '01, Cleveland just didn't execute very well and let Rhea County control the game. In '01, Cleveland had a pass dropped by a wide open wide receiver on the Cleveland side line in the last 2 minutes of the game. Cleveland just couldn't get back up. It will be a close game unless Cleveland comes out and controls the game like they have in the last 2 games.
  9. Walker Valley was in the game for about 7 minutes. Cleveland Kick a field goal to start the game. Walker Valley made 1 first down and punted to Cleveland. Cleveland proceeded to take over the game from that point. Walker Valley had 1 chance to score and missed a field goal. Cleveland travel to Rhea County on Friday. Cleveland already wrapped the region but Rhea still needs a win to get into the play-off tiebreakers. The tiebreakers are too numerous to put on one thread. Cleveland always has problems at Rhea. 2 years ago Cleveland with a win won the region. But they lost and went to 4th place and got demolished my Maryville. Cleveland in a close one.
  10. Thakns ANSPA for the good thread and the good words about my son #7. Cleveland is starting to peak right at Play-off time. The defense is getting better every game. the offense is clicking on about seven cylinders. Cleveland came away from this game with minor injuries. Go Blue Raiders.
  11. My wife had a vein bleed on the frontal lobe the Monday after the loss to Maryville last year in Cleveland. She was airlifted to Erlanger in Chattanooga. She is doing fine. My prayers are with you and my God Bless you and your family. Our prayers were answered. The lord will provide for you. We had people praying for us all over the US. All the different religions prayed for my wife. I will pass this along in the prayer chain in my town. The power of prayer and the closeness of you religious brethren will be with you. Also, the football team is one of the greatest support groups you will ever have. During our time of need, the football team was there to lend support. The Lord will provide in a speedy recovery GOD BLESS YOU
  12. NFHS Rule 1-2-5 A thru G states that the goal post shall have the top edge of the cross bar is ten above the ground. The crossbar is 23' 4" apart inside to inside of each upright. The min. height of the uprights is 10' but can be higher. The cross and uprights are to be decorative free materials except paint which is recommended to be silver, yellow or white.

    Announcers

The voice of Cleveland High School Blue Raiders is Scott Carroll of WCLE 104.1 in Cleveland, TN. His wit and personality is popular with the fans and as an Athletic Director of Cleveland Middle School. He comes with some off the cuff wisdom (??), jokes, and some slick sayings like, that a team that don’t bring may fans with them, “we thought that team X wasn’t going to bring nobody to the game but the station wagon just pulled up”. When you listen to him, he keeps you entertained during the game plus announcing the game as it being played. He pulls no punches and state what’s on his mind.

    TSSAA

TSSAA is a private organization with no ties to the State of TN. TN government has no control over the TSSAA. Its a business like a grocery store, sporting goods store. Its owners or Stockholders get all the money.

I'M A FOOTBALL OFFICIAL, AND THE STATE PAYS FOR THE FOOTBALL PLAY-OFF OFFICIALS IN EACH ROUND WITH MILAGE. EACH SCHOOL GET 25% FROM THE GATE. THE T$$AA PAY’S MILEAGE PER MILE FOR THE VISITING TEAMS TRAVEL. THE 50% THE T$$AA GET GOES TOWARD INSURANCE (CATASTROPHE) FOR ALL HIGH SCHOOLS. THE SCHOOL.S AGREED THAT THIS IS FAIR WHERE THE SCHOOL DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THE HOME SCHOOL GET THE CONCESSION STANDS. IN BASKETBALL THE DISTRICT AND REGION GAME SITES PAY FOR THE OFFICIALS.
  16. The Cleveland Blue Raider took it to the Bradley Central Bears tonight. Cleveland had almost 400 yards in total offense and the Cleveland "D" held Bradley to just 70 yards. The offense finally got untracked tonight against Bradley. Cleveland had 8 different backs rushed the ball tonight. Tanner Shamblin had time to throw the ball and had a good night. He had around 100 yards tonight with 1 TD. The SportsVison Trophy stays at Cleveland for another year.
  17. You need to go to Cal Prepsand look at an unbiased look at TN football and its predictions. It’s a good web site to look at power ratings, schedules, and other information that true football numbers crunchers will like.
  18. Cleveland Blue Raiders are having good practices this week. They are ready for Bradley friday night. The game is being televised on Charter cable 5 in CLeveland starting at 7 PM. Cleveland will prevail with speed on both sides of the ball and with patience. The Cleveland team dosen't get excited when they get behind by a touchdown. This game is for bragging rights where good friends play against each on the field. Good Luck Blue Raiders.
  19. purplepounder---Do you have a life, job or go to school. Step back from your key board and catch your breathe. Let your blood pressure go down and you’re typing your fingers to nubs. Your post is like clock work 1 about every 30 minutes to an hour. It's great you support your team, but you’re beginning to be obnoxious. Toot your horn after the game on Friday night. Yes, Central has a good team. Let them win their next 3 games then you can get on the wagon, soap box and preach. Tyner is a very good team, Brainerd is so-so and Cleveland is a very good and talented team. See you in October @ Central when the Cleveland Blue Raiders invade Harrison TN with the region championship on the line.
  20. Classifications are set every 2 years. This year and next is grouped together. The 2005 football year, Walker Valley will move up into the region with Chatt. Central, Cleveland, Rhea, Brainerd, Hixson, Red Bank and East Ridge. They reached this student level after the divisions were set this summer.
  21. Cleveland isn't playing up to their potential this year. Cleveland is just one step, one block from breaking big plays. Cleveland does have a target on their back because when your region champs, everybody is out to knock you out of being #1. Cleveland defense has carried Cleveland this year as it has in the past. The offense will catch up and Cleveland will be hard to handle. Cleveland plays Bradley Central, East Ridge and the big game with Chattanooga Central on October 10. Chattanooga Central plays Tyner (Tough Game), Brainerd (laugher) then Cleveland. This game will be for the region championship in 3 weeks in Harrison, TN. (Are the bleachers fixed yet)? I hope so.
  22. CLeveland had a good week of practice. The Cleveland team will not over look Red Bank this week and have its mind on Bradley Central. The game tonight has more bearing on the play-offs than Bradley. The Bradley game is more of bragging rights. The region goes through Cleveland till somebody takes the region away. Cleveland is still upset from last weeks lost, but the team got it's head up and ready to play. GO RAIDERS
  23. Don’t the T$$AA have a criteria that schools have to win so many games to be eligible for bowl games. Back in past years before the present 5 divisions, a team had to win 7 games to be eligible. There are not many or no teams with that many wins and not be in the play-offs. The T$$AA can make more money off the play-offs than bowl games.
  24. At Cleveland High School it cost $2 to park. It rotates among various sports teams (Basketball, Wrestling, Softball,Soccer) school groups (FICA, etc.) and the Quarterback Club. All the money goes to these groups to help with the burden of cost and overhead to takes to run their selected sports or group programs. The band gets the concession stands.
  25. Go to TSSAA.org and this web site give directions to every school in TN. Pick Member schools, in the area school name put in Morristown in the second space and hit "submit Query". Then pick Morristown-Hamblen High, scroll to bottom of the page and pick a mapping site.
