  1. Ricky Bowers coached at MBA prior to joining Ensworth, and Antonio Richardson sat out last year and is playing(quite well)this year for Ensworth.
  2. I didn't see a lot of Randall Cobb when he played at Alcoa, but I have seen him do well at Kentucky and being an impact player at an SEC school is quite an achievement. I have however seen a lot of Barry Brunetti, earlier this year he was named one of ESPNs Elite 11 quarterbacks and is on the watch list for M a x P r e p s National Player of the Year award. Brunetti's stats thus far have been quite excellent, he has accounted for 26 touchdowns and 0 turnovers(18 passing/8 rushing). Mind boggling stat for MUS..3 turnovers though 9 games, 2 bad snaps(back-up Qb was in)and a muffed punt...that is a level of execution I have never seen in high school.

  4. Nice call Final score MUS 38 CBHS 14.
  5. MUS 38 CBHS 14 MUS was down 14 - 10 at the half, but scored 4 touchdowns in 5 minutes during the 3rd quarter to put the game out of reach.
  6. When did west Tennessee become its own state? This thread is fail.
  7. Recruitment allegations are rather cliché, perhaps in further aspersions you focus on the school colors or maybe the mascot. The Owls have a good football team this year, next weeks rivalry game against CBHS should be quite the contest.
  8. From the CA... 19.4 yards a carry is putting it in beast mode.
  9. MUS wins 55 - 35, Barry Brunetti hurt in the second quarter and didn't return.
  10. You've got me curious now owlbooster. You mean to tell me that MUS isn't getting much of a pass rush on the opposing QB ... or that they didn't against East? I know S.P. came back on you guys via the pass. The same for O.B. if I am correct. But both of those teams were your basic old fashioned "My lineman are bigger then your linemen and we are going to just line up and bowl you over" type of teams. But East is a different type of team altogether aren't they? WHS kind of fits more into the 'East' type of team then they do to 'S.P. or O.B.' type of team. I can see your reason for concern. I just don't know if coach Rutherford will commit enough to the passing game to make MUS change their defensive philosophy because he is going to want to stay balanced with the run verses the pass. If he decides to tip the scale say .... 60 pass / 40 run ... well ... do you think that things could get interesting? South Panola did nothing in air, all runs by Parker and Market. Olive Branch didn't get much in the air until about 4 minutes left in game via a long screen pass to Shipp. The Owls had a good pass rush against East, but Jazzy is very difficult to sack, as I'm sure White Station will also attest. MUS also has McBride back, he looked very good in limited action last Friday.
  11. 1) White Station 14 @ MUS 38 2) Arlington 28 @ Bolton 14 3) Craigmont 21 @ Briarcrest 24 4) Millington 21 @ Cordova 20 5) Memphis East 36 @ Melrose 30
  12. The Coach T scoreboard is incorrect, Ensworth won in overtime 36 - 34, as for best team in the state I would think Alcoa and MUS would be at the top in most discussions.
  13. A 38 - 0 shellacking looks to be the root source of the recruiting rumors I see. On second thought, perhaps MUS does have a trained scout staff scouring the city in search of overtly athletic 12-year-old's.
  14. The stat that just blows me away...MUS has 1 turnover through 5 games, 1.
  15. I heard he fractured a shoulder before the season, but is expected back in the next few weeks.
  16. Great win tonight for MUS, I guess last year wasn't such a fluke after all The schedule just keeps on coming with Memphis East up next week, they put 68 on White Station this evening. **edit** Well now WMC 5 says White Station put 68 on East, I guess it doesn't really matter as MUS plays them both.
  17. Olive Branch 31 Brentwood Academy 20 FINAL
  18. I didn't think it would be that bad, but I thought the Brothers would take care of business.
  19. The Eagles lost a tight one to Father Ryan last week and will now travel to Mississippi to take on the Conquistadors of Olive Branch. This is going to be a tough game for BA, as Olive Branch is one the top ranked schools in Mississippi, and have linemen with NFL type size. The Eagles will need to throw the football effectively to gain any ground against the mammoth Conquistador line, and on defense will need to take the MUS approach and submarine the offensive line to allow the linebackers a chance to stop OB's outstanding running back Keyshun Shipp. I will be rooting for the Eagles, but this game, to me at least, looks like it will turn out similar to the Prattville game played last year.
  20. Congrats MUS, what a job by that D-Line. Respect was taken.
  21. Plus this is a national TV game, I think both teams will be fired up and ready to play. My prediction for the game is MUS to take an early lead, nothing huge maybe 10 points, and then will try to hold on against a more athletic and far larger South Panola. I just don't think the Owls will be up to it come the 4th quarter, Parker slamming into MUS's undersized line throughout the game will pay dividends late... SP by 7.
  22. Get ready for next week then, I think Olive Branch averages 300lbs/6'4" across the line. I still think BA can win the game, but the size of OB is staggering. **game is actually two weeks from now**
