South Side and Humboldt played two district games on Monday at Humboldt, splitting the two.
South Side won game one behind Will Deaton, who hit a three-run homer to give them the lead for good in the fifth, and threw seven innings as the Hawks won 9-5. Jonathan Wynn homered and took the loss for Humboldt.
In game two, Humboldt used a 6-run third, 5-run fourth, and 4-run fifth to win the game 15-0 in five innings. All but one Viking starter had a hit, and Tyler Johnson and Doug Loeffel added three each. Loeffel also went all five innings, picking up the win.
These two teams also played on Tuesday night in a non-district affecting game, with South Side winning a lopsided score 12-2. An 11-run third inning broke Humboldt's momentum built from grabbing a 2-0 lead. Tyler Johnson pitched for Humboldt, while Chris Russell went the distance for the Hawks.
