  1. Hey Hairy I think that it is great that kids want to get involved and am for it. The only point I was making is that when you have the tallent the owls have had the past few years those kids that do not think they will get playing time or will have to pay a price of getting pounded on by very talented players sit out until those players leave, you do not know how committed they are or did not pay the same price the other kids that have bee there through all the scout duties.
  2. It's tuff to hope that guys who could have been playing in the program all this time finally decide to come out when many of the better players in the state are leaving. That tells me alot about their courage and how important it is to them. Sounds to me like they are a little kitty.
  3. I like Frags set up. If the schools did not have to give T$$AA 50% off the top of the gate the gas may not be as big a deal. Also the T$$AA should pay the officials out their funds. they should get 25% to pay those expenses and let the ones bringing in the revenue (football) be taken care of.
  4. It is obvious that the Z plan that was implemented this year has many flaws and did not accomplish what it was suppose to do. I have read were polls and computer formulas should be a factor in deciding play off teams and match-ups. The only human factor that should be considered is the one decided on the field. Not a voted poll. The computer is skewd because it looks at W's and L's and statistics. Statistics can be deceiving based on the level of competition. We all know that across the state sports are not equal. A team can be 10 and 0 in Knoxville play in a weak district and region and get to a team from murfreesboro with an 8 and 3 record and loose due to the fact that tha team came from a better district or region. The point is there is probably not a clear way to solve it but the Z plan is the worst. Let's look at states with great high school football and see how they do it, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina etc.
  5. Well it's finally over, now we see how this master play-off plan works. It is rediculous in all classifications. It did not solve the travel situation which is what it was supppose to do (Tyner going to Alcoa, Farragut to Ooltewah) and 1 and 9, 3 and 7 teams got in and what about all the privates getting in and them doing their own brackets. All the football states around us are probably laughing the tails of at us also. Selection Saturday was great but the same problems are there. There is a better way but this first time with this system sure shows alot of flaws.
  6. Well, will it be better or will there still be teams getting in with loosing records? The last system atleast gave you something to plan for in the play-offs. It was also pretty cut and dry the top 4 from each region. This is suppose to cut down on travel. But is that not the intriguing part of play offs. I heard it came from that mega football state of Virginia.
  7. That system definately does not work. The TSSAA system is the worst I 've ever seen. Who came up with it and implemented it is the question. The way before was pretty cut and dry but this thing is created so no one can figureit out without an MBA.
  8. What is up with this new play-off system and where did this thing come from.
  9. What is the deal with this new play-off system here in Tennessee. What and who in the worlds idea was this. Does anyone even have a clue how it works and where did it come from.
  10. Look guys he is a great high school football player for the Chattanooga area. He still has alot of work to do. He will dominate next season, if he does not get complacint. Now that he has commited to UT the job is not over. That offer can be pulled as fast as it was given. He is a Hybrid defensive player, DE or LB 6-1 225.
  11. First of all who is to say there will be layoffs. That is merely media driven speculation. I will bet you they will be loking for teachers in July. As far as outside the system it's all about teaching needs and fitting the needs to the coaching position, and hiring the best qualified person. If you are so concerned about the county system get involved in public schools and send your children there. Thank You and Good Day
  12. Yes they did but oh what a game good old fashioned football. Not all this wrist band stuff and great athletes all over the field. More D1 prospects in one game than most.
  13. Ooltewah has seen a defense just like Oaklands and it was Maplewoods. They know what to expect and should have a good idea of how to attack it.
  14. Hey Eye, you sound like a mad parent, is this about you or are you a program guy. The Owls are playing in the third round against a very good football team and trying to make it to the Semi Finals. What the HECK!!!!! Every youngman on that team has a role and they all have a hand in the success of the program. Some Roles are larger than others but they contribute everyday.
  15. Who has fingers attached to their butt? Never seen one of those. Try a new quote. As for playing or rotating players who should they do this with.
  16. Good point, I think they said it was to cut down on travel but I do not believe that I think it is based on the fact that they get 50 percent off the gate for every play-off game and if the games are between teams closer they will get more of a crowd. It is all about money for the TSSAA.
  17. What is the deal with the way TSSAA does the play-offs in football. Regions that are strong have to play their same teams in the second and thied rounds if they happen to sweep their first round games. Why not look at the way Georgia does it (They do play pretty good football down there) when they split everyone up and a team will not see a region opponant until the Semi Finals. This being said wait until next year, no one will know anything untill the TSSAA decides who is in the play-offs. This is a plan fron the football strong state of Virginia.
  18. Once again this shows how flawed the TSSAA play-off system is. Regions that are strong get punished. They cancel themselves out. Just wait until next year it's really going to be a mess.
  19. This just shows how flawed the TSSAA play-off system is. Regions that are strong cancel themselves out. Just wait until the new system is emplement next year. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  20. Well it all sounds intriguing but why does Hoover come to Chattanooga. Could it be that everyone in Ala is tired of the brash ego tisticle ora about Hoover. They just got their hats handed to them when they went to Georgia this year.
  21. The play-offs are always difficult. No one knows how good a team is until the play-offs, when they see teams from outside their area's. There is not a way to gauge the competition from all the area's. The middle of the state seeems to be in controll at this time, in 5a, 3a and private. The way the play-offs are designed (which make absolutly no sence alot of good teams and regions cancel each other out) No other true football state punishes their strong regions and teams this way. To win it all there must be good teams, coaches, and great luck.
  22. Ooltewah did not balk at that schedule. Smyrna wanted to play Brentwood b/c it was closer to home. They balked on it.
  23. JV games are fine for develping players but players get better by practicing against better players. Where do they get a better idea of competition than in practice against the Varsity every week. In everything people need to learn how to pay a price for what they get. It 's not an Upward League. We live in a society that wants everthing to be equal and fair and that's part of the problem. No one wants to have their kids deal with dificulties.
  24. Look the kid was not happy were he was big deal. If there are no rules in place to address the situation of moving from school to school so be it. Friday night will be what it is all about, winning to secure your teams destiny. Settle it on the field and the way it should be. This is the time of these young mens lives and they should relish in it.
