  1. Well, it was ugly but somebody had to win and luckily the Mustangs came out with the w. 17-10 in a three hour marathon. Four homers, 2 by Brandon Turner and 2 by Kylie Loveday, one a slam. Nine hits, 2 errors by WV. Six hits, 6 errors by Central. Walker is still in the driver seat of the district with Central an assured 2nd place. After tonight though I am not sure either side will be content with that. The two teams meet again tomorrow- this time with homefield advantage going to Central. It will be interesting to see how the two teams will play after a game like this.
  2. anyone know yet if this game will be played or not?
  3. weather looks like it may not cooperate. hopefully, wv will stay focused and close out the district with wins. lovedays sure have been hitting well so they should be pretty competitive games and fun to watch. understand that the rained out polk game will be next monday after the lenoir city classic. if anyone knows for sure, post it please.
  4. hey kingstonkrazie, I missed the game so what did ya'll do to beat WV? What was the score, who pitched, etc? got any tips for any other teams to beat those over-rated, cocky Mustangs? Oh, never mind. I just heard they put it to ya' 8-0.
  5. Glad it's over. Great crowd. Now it is time to get back to focusing on Memphis. Big district games for WV next week. Hope everybody will make it out to Turner Field again. Couldn't ask for a better place to eat dinner!
  6. excuses, excuses, excuses-
  7. check all of their other pitchers' records and I think you will see that they have more than one pitcher who can pitch and shut down teams. Stephens, McGuire, Sorah, Matson, Kugler, Evanyek, Frazier, Powell. It takes more than one to get a 23 and 2 record. If anything, their pitching depth is a tremendous asset. Pitchers still have to throw when their team is only scoring two or three runs behind them.
  8. Pat threw a no-hitter last night against Polk, Stephens did pitch the McCallie game. Both did well. Saturday, WV will face Notre Dame at home, 12:00.
  9. WV gets a great one over a very good and classy McCallie team. Stephens struggled early giving up a slam in the first but WV rebounded quickly with homers in the bottom by Turner, Stafford, and Dye. Mc goes right back on top with a superb squeeze bunt in the 2nd. WV countered tieing it up in their half on a fly out by Kugler scoring McGuire. The scored remained at 5 all. Mc changed pitchers a couple of times and Moore only faced 2 maybe 3 batters before being pulled in the middle of a 2-0 count. Bottom of the 6th McGuire reached first, Kugler bunted him over, Fromm walked. Stafford had his 2nd big hit singling in both McGuire and Fromm with 2 outs. Mc scored 1 more in the top of the 7th when Sorah finished it off for WV. It was a good victory for WV who remains 2nd in all classes in the state. WV returns to district play Thursday v. Polk in a make-up game at WV. Nice to see the sun return and at the same time the bats for WV.
  10. my husband and I thank you for your reply and I did not know how to do that so again I thank you.
  11. how often do moderators check the boards? I had a reply to a post that was absolutely inappropriate and I am wondering why it is being allowed to stay on the boards?
  12. bear22- guess we know about how solid bchs defense is after blowing last night's game. soccerplaya9- put on a baseball uniform and then you can see for yourself, if you keep up with baseball you must have been at all of wv's games, how mant would you say you've been too?
  13. oh, I forgot to mention, www.tcba.org has wv ranked 2nd in the state in ALL divisions.
  14. The way to solve all of your questions about WV is real simple: GO SEE THEM PLAY. Their schedule is posted and wv would love to show off the great facilities, the Mustang Grille and the wonderful atmosphere at Turner Field or have you come watch them wherever they play. It's the best way I know of to spend a couple of bucks. Then decide. I will say this, ask the players, ask the coaches, THEY EXPECT to lose and THEY KNOW they can improve and CAN BE BEAT. They also know that unless they win the state, never will they get any respect.
  15. wv which was the only undefeated team out of pool play opted out of Sunday's games.
  16. I sure hope the local media covers this, they have been known to be very slcak in their coverage of wv...
  17. It is one thing to fuss at your OWN team, say things to your OWN kids, disagree and argue with officials- but never have I witnessed such unsportsmanlike conduct from parents and fans as I did at this tournament. Derogatory remarks about the other teams' players are just plain classless and I hope that I never have to sit at a ballfield with Chatt. Central fans again. I listened to it all three days and it just got worse. Parents, you should be ashamed of yourself and think about the example you are setting for your kids. Fans, you are doing a disservice to your team. I had heard other teams poor-mouth Central before and I guess now I know why. If this type of behavior was mild, I would hate to even think what it might be. It was a great tournament, and for the most part a good atmosphere with good competition. My hat is off to all the other teams who played hard and were gracious in winning and losing.
  18. luckyday- I agree with you and do not believe that you were being disrespectful to Coach Lewis as I was absolutely not when I said basically the same thing you did just on the other thread ...wv what happened? I think that anytime their is hard feelings over a situation or the loss of one whom was beloved by many as Coach was then we have to be careful or things can be misconstrued. Hey, it is 75 degrees outside- how about we all give thanks for a beautiful, early spring day and go outside and enjoy it. Anyway, I've got to ru get a Knoxville paper.
  19. Most players of wv had not heard of these rumors so I am not sure that affected their play last night or in the district finals against McMinn Central. If they do turn out to be true, then I will be disappointed in Coach Moore and the things that he has done for this program. I have missed only a handful of games since the beginning of wv and saw how the team operated under both coaches. I had the greatest respect for Coach Lewis and the genuine love he had for the kids and it was all about the kids with him, but that doesn't necessarily equate to a winning program. Let's face it-on the High school level and especially in our fair town it is about wins and losses and Coach Lewis's teams were viewed as underachievers so the change was made. Politics played a huge part in hiring the head coach and the assistant both the first time and the last. This should come as no suprise to anyone who has been connected to or followed sports in Bradley County. I feel that Coach Moore has done a fine job with his players and maybe had he had these boys for more than one year, all the kinks, misqueswould have improved and team chemistry would have been better. I personally hate it for the kids who were seniors, worked so hard all year at practice, sacrificed their bodies, their positions and their egos to become a winning team which they most definetly were. These kids were undersized (no starter over 6"2), were bad-mouthed by other teams' players and fans, and NEVER earned any respect for how well they competed. I applaud their season, Coaches Moore, Shepherd, and Smith and especially the kids. Good luck to all the local teams that remain alive in their respective regions and hopefully when you win or lose you can do it with the same dignity that I have seen ffrom the WV Mustangs this season.
  20. In retrospect: why would a college coach be on this thread replying to anything about someone he/she is attempting to recruit? athlete12- you must be obsessed with KP. every thread you start is about him. I guess you have to find some way to keep selling him since he won't be on the floor for awhile and isn't it silly to presume any player is going anywhere? coaches and teams recruit who will fit THEIR program the best not necessarily who the fans think is the best so let's let the guys who get paid to recruit do their job.
  21. mixitup- Your remarks could not have been because of MY other posts, the only one I had was in direct response to you and I will have no more. It was just difficult to ignore your inane comments of the game. luckyday- please don't confuse me with tnwareagle, it was me responding to Coach Moore being misquoted not her.
  22. mixitup Doubt Coach Moore would want you speaking for him. Don't see any guide dogs leading the WV boys to the basket, check their stats of other games, they like the 3-pointer and they shoot it well. Two minutes to go and it was a 5 point game. I guess if scoring 86 points is a "bad" night for Bradley and WV had nothing to do with it, then when White Station only scored 55 against Bradley, the Bears shouldn't celebrate that win because White Station had a "bad" night. Just a little credit and respect would be nice. And no you can't compare apples and oranges, that's why the way WV played should be applauded.
