  1. who will pitch friday for beech?
  2. i bet notre dame isnt anywhere near as good as the Melrose team white house faced last year in the semifinals in 4a. and yes i know its a totally different wh team and they are in 3a now but those kids where there to and they got a feel for what it takes to win big games. i'll go ahead and mention the hillwood game last year to. lots of people saying hillwood would stomp white house and it was the other way around. wh will be ready to play. no doubt about that.
  3. I heard from a source out of Gallatin that McGuire was kicked off the team for getting into trouble again. Is this true?
  4. Another poor performance by White House. Outstanding job by both pitchers. Lavergne wins off 2 unearned runs. 4 errors by White House gets them the loss. Kevin Whittaker pitched 7 and gave up 2 hits. Harrington pitched 7 and gave up 4.

    Beech

Hayes cant swing a bat, throw a pitch, or field a ground ball so I dont see how its his fault that his team is underachieving. All he can do is coach them to the best of his ability and put the guys on the field that he thinks has the best chance to get him a win night in and night out. Beech isnt a bad team, theyve had lots of great players come through the program almost every year, they just seem to underachieve every year also. Most people will put the blame on the coaches for this and I understand that, but I know Coach Hayes and I know what kind of coach he is and he's one of the best coaches in 9AAA I think. I never played for the guy but I played against him many times and he knows what he is doing. All it comes down to is the players performing. Yes I agree something needs to change at Beech, but its definetly not the coach. A little support from the parents and fans instead of whining could do a world of good. All controversy does is make things worse. Let the guy do his job and give it a rest. I'll tell you one thing...I'd take him over Coach Hendrix at H'ville any day of the week. No disrespect to Coach Hendrix but he's just been blessed with loads and loads of talent. Thats just a perk of living in a big city like H'ville though. Good Luck to Beech the rest of the year. Except against White House.
  6. the Sullins twins will not be playing.
  7. dang, what happened in the wh-smyrna game? who pitched and who had the big hits.
  8. White House: Soph Zach Miller SS/P Fresh Cory Collins SS/P Fresh Cody Midgett 1B/P
  9. In my opinion, 9AAA's best pitcher will not pitch this year and that is Beech's Zach Hendren. From what I heard he messed up his shoulder back in the winter and wont pitch this spring. Some other guys that should be tough to beat will be Brandon McClurg (H'ville), Cody Sullins (WH), Seth McAdams (Beech), Kevin Whittaker (WH), Caleb McGuire (Gallatin), Matt Shao (MJ), Caleb Cotham (MJ). I think most of the top teams from last year lost their #1's so none of these guys are really proven besides McGuire who won the LHP of the Year award for 9AAA last year. Sullins in WH is hurt right now but should be ready to go by early April. Aces for some schools last year that graduated were Toole (WH), Hardy (MJ), Adkins (WC), May (Beech), Parker (WC), Pickett (WH). Smyrna didnt have anybody that they could call an ace last year so until they have a guy that wins more than 10 games this year then you cant call anyone an ace. Same goes for Lavergne.
  10. WH tops Portland 4-2. Jordan Smith got the win and Cody Midgett the save. WH didnt play that great but came out on top so that's all that really matters I guess.
  11. Just because White House won this tournament doesnt mean jack. They have to prove how good they are when district games roll around. All of these tournaments are just warm-ups to get ready for district battle. Gallatin won this tourney last year and had a bunch of hype going on about how good they were and looked where they finished in 9AAA. In the big 8 spot. Celebrate the wins on Sunday, but White House better get back to work on Monday because they still havent proved a thing.
  12. Coach Mills is a great coach. He had some tough shoes to fill when Coach Long left White House 4 years ago and he has done a heckuva job doing so. Its pretty when you lead your team to the 9AAA district title in only the 3rd year of being in that district. Not many teams can step into a district with powerhouses like Mt. Juliet and Hendersonville and accomplish something like Coach Mills did so quickly. He's a class guy and a great coach.
  13. prolly no one because if their stuff was that nasty then they would be playing varsity ball not jv. this has got to be one of the dumbest posts ever.
  14. White House only graduated 4 seniors last year but they were four key guys. The biggest of them all of course is district MVP for the past 2 seasons, Justin Pickett. They also lost their ace in Shane Toole who went 12-2 last season I think. Lost their lead-off man in Chase Reynolds and their starting CF in Robert Hunter. They're starting shortstop coming into this season quit because of football and as of right now they're #1 pitcher Cody Sullins is out with a shoulder injury. Another big injury to this years team was they're best outfielder Kyle Halvorson broke his elbow during football season and was suppose to make a full recovery by baseball season but had a set back and had to have more sugery on the elbow. So in best case scenario he'll be back by mid-April. On the bright side, White House returns both Cody and Cory Sullins. Starting JR third baseman Cory Allen and P/RF Kevin Whittaker. The middle infield we'll be played by JR 2B Jordan Smith and SO SS Zach Miller. Both have to step up and fill some big shoes left by Broadrick and Reynolds. They have a solid catcher in Jeremy Wiss who backed up arguably the best catcher in the midstate last year in Pickett. This season should be interesting to find out how White House we'll do.
  15. He still wasnt as good as Pickett at White House the past 4 years. Nobody has put up the numbers he did in the three years White House was in 9AAA with him.
  16. This is how i see it panning out..... 1. MJ 2. H'ville 3. Beech 4. Lavergne 5. White House 6. Wilson Central 7. Smyrna 8. Gallatin
  17. Ah, timbdp, i hate to break it to you but your in for a rude awakening.

    Middle TN

Beech has got the potential to be pretty good this year. But....they havent started playing yet so you cant say they are going to do anything. As far as the coaching staff goes they have one of the best coaches in middle TN in Coach Hayes. I really dont think the assitant coaches have that big of an effect on a team. Yeah some can, but in most cases the head coach is who the players are going to look to, to lead the team in the right direction. Beech has to prove they are good enough to get through one of the toughest districts in the state before they can talk about going to state. Last year around this time people from Lavergne and Wilson Central were on here hyping they're teams to be the best in 9AAA. Oh yea what happened? White House came out of no where and took it to everyone. Now no one on here can sit here and say that this time last year they thought White House would go 12-2 in the district and host the 9AAA tourney. All I'm saying is Beech better not be gettting too cocky and choke when it comes time to play. Ive seen it happen before and wouldnt be suprised at all to see it happen with Beech this year. They've got to prove the can score runs and play defense. Something they couldnt do at all last year.
  19. First of all, I'm a guy so I guess that means I couldnt play for the girls team right Drika? Second, I got a lot more than my fair share of play while I was at White House in the sports I played. I am going to say I went a little overboard with the saying that Heritage will NEVER be able to hold a light to White House in baseball and football. In the forseeable future...yes I believe that. But 10-15 years down the road yea that could change. This is gonna be a big rivalry in years to come. Maybe bigger than White House-Portland in a decade or two.
  20. Ha, all they need to do is play more together and they'll gel huh? Try and tell White House's girls team that for the past 3 years. Of course they didnt have a coach technically. Not one that any of the players could stand at all but she was called a coach. That was the case for both the girls and guys basketball squads since they moved up to 3A and got the two horrible coaches they had. Heritage's guys team is on a good path right now. I've seen them play and they have some talent that is only going to get better considering the majority of their starters are sophomores. White House has FINALLY gotten a guys coach and looks to be on the right path. They'll move down to 2A next year and do a lot better I believe. The girls team on the other hand is a toss up. They need to improve big time quickly. I dont care if the majority of their starters are freshman. Something has to change on that team quick or the trend is going to keep on the same path. But when it comes to football and baseball...Heritage will never be able to hold a light to White House. Oh, and OnlyChevy...how can we stay on our side of 31W if we are suppose to support the people we grew up with? Obviously you dont go to White House so you dont know what BDP is either so quit yappin.
  21. FatCat, If everyone always went by statistics then no one in baseball would beat the Yankees, if you went by statistics then the '01 Patriots wouldnt have beat the '01 Rams in the Super Bowl. If you went by statistics, White House would beat Greenbrier every year. Wait a minute White House does beat Greenbrier every year, my bad. My point is....statistics are overrated and mean nothing once you step on the field. That is unless....your a Bobcat.
  22. This game is gonna come down to who wants it more. Both teams are 12-0 and have won the majority of their games this year convincingly against opposing teams. Levering has got to have a better week and Ladd has got to run well for a White House win. Hillwood is in the quarterfinals for the first time ever...thats gonna be enough motivation for them to show up. White House's defense has got to step up big time especially in the secondary. If White House can shut down Hillwood's pass offense then I'm gonna give WH the edge. If they cant do that and they cant get their own offense going then they could be in some trouble. There are so many scenarios you could take for this game. So many that I cant explain every one of them. I'm a WH graduate and I definetly want them to pull this one out but to be honest I have no clue who will come out on top in this one. Kinda like those WH-Portland games in the late 90's. Who knows who's gonna win this one. As for WH, guys dont let them stop you now. I know how much work and effort you put forth for this team year in and year out. This is what all those 2-a-days in the summer are for when its 95 outside. If you want it then take it. Nobody but yourselves can stop you. Just ask the '97 team. Everybody said they couldnt do it either and look what happened. I hope you guys get to take that trip to Memphis next week. Good luck.

    Portland

Personally I hope Portland gets blown out in the first round. Prolly just cause I'm from White House and I want Portland to lose any game they play. Good luck..hope you lose.
  24. Man, White House has faced teams with speed all year long. You trying to tell me that Maplewood, Northwest, Northeast, Whites Creek, Pearl Cohn, Greenbrier(mostly just Herndon) do not have speed? Please man, you really dont know what your going up against in White House. You have to shut them down in every aspect of the game to beat them. If you focus in on the run and stopping Ladd, then you'll get beat deep by Levering and Harmon. If you focus on stopping the deep ball, then Ladd will smoke you on the ground. White House is way to much for Columbia in this one.
  25. Columbia can bring their "A" game all they want but if White House is hitting on all cylinders like they have for the last 10 straight games then Columbia doesnt have a chance. We'll see who the clowns are after this one. White House +24.
