  1. This will be a great region watch this year. Clarksville is hands down the favorite as they have been for many years. Can they dominate as they have with the region going back to the old region 7? I guess we all will have to wait and see.
  2. You never know when something bad happens what good might come of it. I can remember the articles that Ward Gossett wrote about Jeff Jordan when he was trying to sir trouble up in Clarksville. And then the TSSAA demanding Jeff to be punished because he used his first admendment right of free speech. Coaches claiming that we had some type of advantage in the duals. We really didn't know why these things were happening to our program. Look what good things did happen to wrestling. If Clarksville and Jeff Jordan had to take one on the chin to improve the State Tournaments I couldn't think of anyone or any program that could do it as well. This is great news for middle and west Tn.
  3. New Beginings Cage Fight is tonight at Clarksville High's gym. First match starts at 7:00.
  4. The fight card is done by SSF Academy and Cage Promotions. These will be trained fighters going at it. We are really excited about this new fundraiser.
  5. Clarksville has teamed up with SSF Academy to host it's first in a series of MMA fights at Clarksville High. Our first event will be April 11th at 7:00 in the main gym. Come out and enjoy a great night of fights
  6. Having been in a very simular situation and losing a state semi-final where a kid never earned a point, I know how your kid feels. But the fact that other refs never called rule fractions is not a valid argument. Just because one cop doesn't pull you over for speeding doesn't mean the next one shouldn't either. Tim is a great ref, but he is going to call every fraction to the rule book. Other wise what good is a rule book. If you are upset that Tim called the match by the book and other refs have let things slide this year, who is really at fault. Again I fell sorry for your wrestler and the way the match ended it's tough to live with I know. I promise you Tim feels the same way about your wrestler as I do he called it like he saw it and doesn't feel bad for calling it by the rule book. I wish Max al the luck in the world from what you have posted about him looks like he will continue to work hard and will prove to be very successful in life.
  7. Cobrakid If you are who I think you are, your dad is a great ref and I would understand why you would take this to heart. You must first read carefully and read everything that is posted to get the full picture. Jordan never called out a ref; if he called anyone out it would have been Parker. He has for several years asked for neutral refs, but has been turned down at every avenue. He felt there was no other way to bring this out and have the situation fixed. CB being out of town you would not know that Jeff sent a letter to the Refs across the state where he did explain his reasons and that he did not attack them as many have implied, that he had the up most respect for them. I was asked in earlier posts was this past tournament the straw that broke the camels back. The answer is yes. The coaches were thinking CHS would host one more year after 2008. I have wanted to get hand it off for the past 3 years. But after things were pointed out that it may not have been a level playing field the decision to end it this year was easy. I have seen the duals as just the opposite for us. While most teams are arriving at their hotels my guys are hauling and setting up mats. While schools from all over the state are practicing cutting weight my guys are sitting in school turning in home work and taking tests. On Monday while everyone else across the state is practicing for regional and holding final challenge matches my guys are busy loading and delivering borrowed mats. So yes I can't wait to drive across the state and sleep in a hotel and wrestle on someone else??™s magical mat as ours has been referred to. I hope this clears everything up for everyone. If you have anymore questions just ask. Sharrock
  8. Ok UncleDoug that was one post to many. I was with you till this one. I like Jeff as well as the next guy believe me. Please tell me where in the rule book it states you can not ref a match of a team from the region you are from. I am still waiting where is it. I will wait a little longer. Can not find it can you. I did not think so. rasslinlight first read my first post. Than I'll do one better straight form TSSAA's Bylaws. We never brought it up but it is there in Black and White. Section 16. (a) Officials shall be agreed upon by both schools. (/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> These officials must be registered and approved by TSSAA. If a registered official who has been engaged for an athletic contest fails to appear, the principal of the home school may, with the approval of the visiting school, select an official for the contest. If this is done, the principal of the home school must mail to the Executive Director within 48 hours evidence showing that a registered official was employed for the game and that the official did not appear. The principal of the home school shall give the name and address of the registered official who was employed to officiate the game, and the name and address of the non-approved official used as a substitute.
  9. Very interesting article, Ward stirred the pot to invent this story and then has to twist truths to make a personal attack on Jeff to make a story. Jeff's question for years has been why put a Middle Tennessee ref or Chattanooga ref on the mat with Middle Tn and Chattanooga teams on the mat. It's not done in any other sport. Has nothing to do with the ref themselves, but more how they are assigned and why. Several years ago when Clarksville and Bradley met in the finals, I went to ask Ronnie Carter to please put two West Tn refs on the mat so there wouldn??™t be any perceived notions of favoritism. He personally told me OK, when we got started it was a totally different case. West Tn officials did not report to the mat, when Jeff questioned Ronnie Carter, he became very angry. Yet when I asked him it seemed like it wasn??™t a problem at all, I can only speculate this came after talking with the man responsible for official assignments. Why the TSSAA doesn??™t want to treat wrestling like all other sports makes a person wonder. But Ward didn??™t want to report that Clarksville has been working on this for several years now, or that Clarksville has wanted to do away with the duals for awhile. (I have been begging to give it up because it has become such a distraction for the team. I think we should be able to show up and wrestle like every other team.) It appears Ward just wanted to make a personal attack on Jeff. By the way Ward couldn??™t report it because he never asked, the threat occurred when there was a blood time out in the 285 pound weight class. Cleveland didn??™t think there was blood and our wrestler was gased. I won??™t repeat what was said but I heard it as I watched the coach say it. I wiped the kid??™s blood out of his mouth without gloves in order to speed up the stoppage. I even got blood on my finger and can be seen walking across the mat to the trainer during the match to get it cleaned off on our video, which should be very clear on Cleveland??™s two cameras. The coach has even admitted that things were said that shouldn??™t have and that??™s why he talked to Jeff after the match. What was said is not really of importance but the fact that Ward is attacking Jeff??™s character surely shows his lack of and poor journalistic abilities.
  10. My friend shortstuff, I think you need to rethink your post before I see you in the morning. There is an edit tab that you may want to use.
  11. The following is a note from Clarksville High's Jeff Jordan that he asked me to post for him In 1999 the state duals were at Overton High School, we lost a close final to Bradley Central. The bigger loss was the possibility of losing the state duals because the TSSAA was losing money on them. I asked that they come to Clarksville. They stayed because the duals were profitable. I have done two other things concerning the state duals. First I worked out a plan to make the duals possible for both public and private in the same gym. Then I worked it out so that we could expand using limited facilities. We found a way to add double elimination, region runner ups, small schools, and then expand the small school tournament. My second contribution was to put the finest, most selfless people in charge of running the tournament. Contrary to popular belief, I have never requested or assigned a single match. Because of these fine people I have only coached. This past weekend after the tournament, Heath Eslinger informed me that he and most others feel that hosting the tournament gives us an unfair advantage. I am in no way interested in unfair advantage. I have spoken to all those fine people who have donated so much for so long and told them that Clarksville High cannot host the tournament any more. Thanks to those who have been appreciative, and I apologize to any who we may have offended. May the duals continue to get better throughout the years. Sincerely. Jeff Jordan

  21. I hope that both schools can find some great coaches to take the helm. UTC wrestlers need to take notice, Clarksville would be a great place to start a career.
  22. I wasn't trying to say our guys don't do a good job. I just saw a different timing and wondered if it was because the video sped it up or if GA refs called things quicker.
  23. I've got a couple of old guys looking to wrestle open tour. Are there any around?
