  1. I was also at the game and did witness the parent or fan running after the officials as they left the field while players were shaking hands. Just another example of what has been said by coaches and officials for many years,"kids would be better off if the parents stayed at home." Now almost every parent attends practice as well as games to be sure their child does not get mistreated or yelled at. I myself have coached for a number of years and had children play sports coached by someone other than me and never did question their judgement or particular play calling on the field. Maybe some of the Springfield parents or fans should do the same and set a good example for their's and everyone elses kid's!! I sat on the visitors side because I was late and the DC side was alteady full, but in all the years I have been attending football games I have never heard parents of kid's playing on the field talk so bad about how their coach was running the football program and play's that were being called during the game. Now, some of you are going to say that you have that right as a parent or fan, but just give the coach a chance before you feed him to the wolves(or chase HIM down the field)and by all means, LET THE KID'S PLAY!!
  2. Come on Springfield fans, I guess the officials were to blame when the Jackets played Clarksville (12 penalties plus a few turnovers)but no complaining because you won and then Henry Co.(several TO's plus penalties)and you blame WHO?? Officials and Coaches!! Just let the kid's play! Springfield is a young team and will get even better when they realize you do not have to be flashy and learn to play fundamentally sound football. I am sure your coaches stress this every day in practice. As for DC, they still have games to play before HC comes to town, so they better get some people healthy and cut out some of the mistakes that can take you out of a ballgame like it did in the second half last night.Good luck Springfield next week and let the kid's play!!
  3. Kevin38....you did not lose because of a penalty...you would still have to score somehow if and when you got the ball back! This was a very tightly officiated ballgame with questionable calls on both sides, but good teams find a way to bounce back and Springfield almost did. Dickson Co. needs to get back to basics and play a full game or they will find themselves with a loss somewhere down the road!!
  4. Dickson Co. has no speed, size or athletic ability whatsoever! Columbia should just look past DC and worry about the next game on their schedule. DC will rollover and let you win after halftime.
  5. Why don't you ask Hunters Lane how that kitty cat tasted? DC will bring what they always bring to Williamson Co. and that is a football team that is better than you think and will get after you until the whistle blows!! Good luck to both teams and bear meat will taste pretty good for a pre-game snack!!
  6. Dickson Co. has always played a tough schedule in any district or region!! Look back over the years and see we have been in the Williamson co. region and except for 2008's team we were always playing for a region title with all the Brentwood, Franklin and such schools. Tell me which region other than 6-5a over the last 4 or 5 years was better?? Our non-region schedule also included Riverdale for several years along with a Brentwood Academy game thrown in every now and then. When you build a new high school in a county rich in football tradition as DC was and is now, you split up the athletes and some years are not as good as others. Look at Creekwood and DC and tell me what kind of team they could put on the field together and you might see another state championship back in Dickson Co. some day!!
  7. WOW!! Talk about homecooking!! The zebras sure helped out the home team on 3 or 4 calls my HC faithful!! HC played a little better than DC, but not 34-14 better. The bad calls and 2 fumbles (told you about DC and wet weather) sure did make it a little easier for HC. This HC team is good but not as talented as last years and better look out for a Rossview team that just might sneak up on them next week! Also, why did our band get un-invited at the last minute? I know it was senior night at HC, but most schools do stuff like this before the game (7:00 pm) as not to interfere with the normal schedule. Good game HC and good luck next week!!
  8. DC has trouble holding on to the ball in games played in wet or muddy (Northeast-looked like a cow pasture) field conditions. Maybe coach's at DC need to let them practice in the rain a little instead of in the gym?? Just a thought!!
  9. DC playing alot of sophomores and juniors buy still might give HC a fight if play calling from the sidelines is better than it has been the last few weeks. DC plays a good game one week then looks like a junior pro team the next, but this is HC week and this tradition has been around a long time!! I think DC will have no problem getting up for this game and we do bring a pretty good crowd to most games also!! DC-21 HC-14
  10. Dickson Co.--not many players returning--offense is slow--defense is small--not enough athletes on the sidelines--can not throw the ball--no football tradition whatsoever--no community support!! Just a few remarks that are usually thrown out by our region counterparts from Williamson Co. every year but we are always competing for the region tltle at the end of the season and getting ready for the playoffs. As coach Bledsoe says, " 3 yards and a cloud of dust" will win more than its share of ballgames. DC will always come to play, does not matter who is standing on the opposite sidelines!!
  11. Dickson County plays in the toughest region in 5A-- always a contender for region title--but still gets no respect from the Williamson Co. teams. I am glad to hear that most HC fans still know that no matter what the talent level at either HC or DC is, these two teams always line up and play a good, hard-nosed football game and show most area sports fans that you can have a good rivalry with another team and still show excellent sportsmanship, just like both teams have shown over the years! All I can say is, this is not Clarksville NW you are playing this week--so be careful on your way across the river and bring a BIG crowd--we have plenty of seats on our visitors side. Hope we have 0 injuries and good weather!! GO COUGARS!!
  12. More skill players than Riverdale?? no way!! saw Riverdale play DC & witnessed great teamwork on both sides of the football. Can they be beat? YES! Have not seen Lebanon play but know several fans from wilson co and from what they say too many individuals & not enough team. Riverdale wears you down with it's run game & then throws it deep when ever it wants (ASK DC).Any team can have a off night but in my opinion Riverdale wins this one by 2 TD's.
  13. dickson co...running game hitting on all cylinders...this was big question mark to start the season but smaller than usual unit has shown alot of heart and desire. Of course having the QB and RB's this offense has also helps! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. Dickson Co.... key players hurt or lost for the year....playing alot of young but promising guys !! Need to find some people to step up quick.... next three weeks will make or break the Cougars, region 6-5a is looking alot like last year with five or six teams looking to get playoff spots!!! thumb
  15. Well....Looks like again people are forgetting about Dickson Co. What do you have to do to get respect from people in Williamson county?? This program has won district and region titles throughout the last 20 plus years!! They have played and beaten over the years the MBA's, Brentwood Aca., Riverdales, Gallatin's and Franklin...(not to mention others I can't think of right now).Granted, Franklin's program is on the upswing right now but, it wasn't long ago that they were not very strong at all. Dickson Co's program has lost a little bit of it's swagger over the last year or so but so have alot of other schools who have opened a new high school in their county(Creekwood). Needless to say,I think you should not overlook the Cougars!! (Dickson Co., not Centennial, we had the name first)
  16. Hey Big Dog...Seems to me you still give no props to Dickson Co!! WHY?? Maybe because we can compete with your Williamson Co football teams?? We did share the region crown with Franklin & Brentwood last year, REMEMBER?? Guess who is 3-0 in region 6-5a just like your Franklin Rebels(who were lucky to get out of Centenial with a win). If your programs would play a tougher non-region schedule like Dickson Co (Hendersonville-Riverdale-Beech) then it might help at the end of the year when it really counts. Needless to say, Franklin has a very good team just like last year but you never know what can happen on Friday nights in middle tn.!! Not meaning to sound p---ed off but give some credit where it is due.... I know it is just an opinion... but to pick Henry Co over Dickson Co...come on !! Not to take anything away from HC but I think there might have been a little bit of wishful thinking going on in your prediction and thats ok...but as I have said before on these threads, don't forget... we do know how to play a little bit of football here in Dickson Co...see you in a few weeks!!!

    Best fullback?

Stanley Brooks....Dickson County....Hard nose runner and great blocker, has lined up at tailback on occasion. Total team player !!! ( not a bad wrestler either) thumb
  18. Dickson Co. hurting after Riverdale left town (mentally & physically) but,as usual I feel the coaching staff at DCHS will have them ready to play a much improved HCHS team. This game is always a slugfest and I have no doubt that Henry Co. is pumped up after a big win last week but, Dickson Co. will be out to prove to everyone that they are a better team than the one that showed up against the Univ. of Rankindale.... I mean Riverdale ( YES...they are that good). If we don't show up with our A-GAME... should we just stay in the field house and let the cheerleaders play the game ??? Just joking...hope you have a safe trip from Henry Co. and good luck!!
  19. smokey16 is correct...some of these predictions are way out there...I think a few of the posters on this subject are either too young to remember or think that football is only played in Rutherford or Williamson countys!! Well, I hate to tell you but, we have been playing football here in Dickson Co. for a few years also. We have played the Gallatins, MBA's, Brentwood Academy's,Father Ryan's, Oaklands, Lincoln Co, and YES Riverdale. Sure we did not win all the games but we won more than we lost. Dickson Co. football is well respected in the state of Tennessee and as one old coach at DC once told us "everybody puts their pants on the same way, one leg at a time". This game will be decided on the field by young men who know all the talk on this board means absolutely nothing... So, show just a little bit of respect for Dickson Co.,I am sure coach Rankin is telling his team to expect a dog fight from DC and I know coach Bledsoe is telling the Cougars how good the Warriors are!! Good luck to both teams and have a safe trip from Rutherford Co., see you at Dickson Co. Stadium, the one that is FULL of COUGAR FANS!!! ( "3-yards and a cloud of dust" - Paul "Bear" Bryant, Alabama)
  20. dickson co has a first class fieldhouse and stadium, plus anyone from region 6-5a will tell you how the fans support this program !! playing field is fantastic plus home bleachers and visitors side seat the same number of fans (10,000 plus in 1988 against hendersonville, year dickson co won it all).some have said looks better than many college stadiums !!
  21. nobody gave lincoln co or dickson co a chance last year...but look at what happened !!
  22. DICKSON CO...four yards and a cloud of dust...COUGARS by 7 !!!
