  1. My limited understanding is that there was a confrontation by a parent to a player after the game and possibly there have been other situations that dad thought were more than son should have to attempt to deal with and thus the decision was made. I understand having children in "tough" situations and the pressures they can feel participating in sports and gaining the hoped for lessons of life from these ventures...some parents may see things differently for their children and being that these are still children we are talking about, the parent(s) gets to make many of the calls on what takes place...my children were never allowed to quit, but I am not trying to raise other people's kids...everyone parents differently, I'm just saying there are an awful lot of decisions and declarations being posted when we don't know the entire story to even come close to trying to develope an opinion... Cap how is the college hoopster's leg?...mine just tore his ACL last Friday at practice Roll Tribe Roll
  2. I realize I, like most everyone else on here, don't really understand the entire situation, but it seems to me this is a situation of a parent protecting a child from a situation... Regardless, there is too much persecution and not enough compassion and empathy...but then that is how posters on this website have been the past year or two... Roll Tribe Roll
  3. No, they evidently have something else to do... Roll Tribe Roll
  4. Wrong...the coaches don't have anything to do with the fundraising by the D-B QB Club, there is a board that sets committees and activities...so parents are not pressured or even asked by coaches. Wrong...person in charge this year was a dentist; has been an Eastman engineer, a couple of insurance agents, and in a couple of previous years the same dentist as this year. Wrong...many players play and start whose parents have never been on the BMS campus (to assist with the fund- raising)...and not just referring necessarily to this season. Wrong...didn't cut anyone from the team long before the race situation came about...it has nothing to do with the number of players. Wrong...there are only six or seven people, at the most, that will put in 50-60 hours...there are two fairly short days and two long days twice a year, but most people don't work but one each season... Wrong...don't spend $50,000+... What the QB Club does is a good thing...come be a part of it and see for yourself. I don't know anything about the situation that brought about this thread and don't know that I want to, but whatever it is, is a shame...and it is wrong of you Watchdog to attempt to explain, or justify (or whatever it was you were doing with the situation with untrue statements)...you are, however, very correct with your last sentence; I am with you on that (not that you would think that was a good thing). I know you and I have for whatever reason(s) butted heads some on here...I can say I do think you have had some good thought provoking posts during the course of the season, but this isn't one I would categorize that way. 5. That would be a fairly short thread as you have it, because it is SENSABAUGH...!!!... Roll Tribe Roll
  6. Now that one is funny... Roll Tribe Roll
  7. Coach Robbie Norris is the head coach at North...?????...this is his second season at the helm...etfan, first you misspell Sensabaugh (on another thread, trying to be a smart aleck) and now you misidentify a coach...??? Roll Tribe Roll
  8. He practiced Monday and yesterday. Roll Tribe Roll
  9. worlhead, Brandon went on and played at Appy State. Cory played QB at D-B (was a back-up to Ryan Wagner, now on the D-B coaching staff)...Cory played quite a bit and did a fine job...he also was an outstanding pitcher on the D-B baseball team and he went on to pitch at MTSU for 4 years... Great family, that happens to have a bunch of fine athletes in it... Roll Tribe Roll
  10. tricitiessportsfan, Travis Sensabaugh actually played basketball at D-B, then at Walters State, then at Gardner-Webb...(not at Tusculum). Roll Tribe Roll
  11. Watchdog, That was the rain game that Bo Burton broke his foot in and Sam McCord had to come back in and play QB and reinjured his shoulder... Oh and you had mentioned me being aware of muffed punts in a previous post, if that is directed as a slam on some of my family members, I will remind you that there were only two muffs by my family members in over three years of returning punts, oldest son against Karns @ Karns (before he was knocked unconscious) and younger son last year against South (made up for it, though)...youngest son hasn't had a turn yet... Now, I do remember a muffed punt by a teammate my junior year of high school that led to a playoff victory for Knox Fulton, which was quarterbacked by none other than Sevier County's head football coach Steve Brewer...it is such a small world... Trivia Question: Bart Ring completed his first high school touchdown pass to whom against whom? Roll Tribe Roll
  12. yes, absolutely yes, they are one of the best anywhere...yes Roll Tribe Roll
  13. Happy Homecoming '07 to the entire Dobyns-Bennett Tribe. Roll Tribe Roll
  14. Gate City just perfected it. Roll Tribe Roll
  15. Bo Burton from Dobyns-Bennett. Roll Tribe Roll
  16. Steve Spurrier Reggie White Bobby Dodd Doug Atkins Bobby Cifers John Hannah Todd Collins Troy Fleming Roll Tribe Roll
  17. Ring wasn't the one who pitched it to Hogg on the fumble, Crawford was in at QB...Ring was split wide right... Roll Tribe Roll
  18. Oak Ridge and D-B fans remember to enjoy the tailgate dinner sponsored by the D-B PTSA...it will be in the dry of the lobby of the Buck Van Huss Dome...Pratt's Bar-B-Q pulled pork or chicken sandwiches, beans, cole slaw, dessert, and tea; only $ 6.00. We have seen so many classics between these two fine institutions, I hope tonight can also qualify as one to remember. What is the status of the two linemen discussed previously as possibly not playing for the "Cats"?...they are listed on the probable starter line-ups I have seen... Rain is still falling in Kingsport... On a personal note, many of you Oak Ridge fans have spoken with or to one of the D-B faithful on here (and all the D-B fans know him) Art Vandalay, well Art's wife has had some medical concerns and could sure use some good thoughts and prayers...so...thank you for your time in that regard... Everybody please drive safely, enjoy the game; let's appreciate these young men and woman as they are, as Coach Clark puts it "trying their best to be great"... Good luck and good health to the Wildcats. Roll Tribe Roll
  19. boyfromsi, Yeah...Adam Black...he had a great game...thanks for the assist...what are Black and Thompson doing now? Roll Tribe Roll
  20. ORidgeKat, I would add Daley Thompson from Oak Ridge and Walker Throp and Phillip Tritapoe from D-B as they all three were huge in the two classic games from 2003...Daryl "purple" Hayes from D-B was huge in the 2004 game at the "Ship"...and I think in your only spelling error you were going for Josef Throp...and there was another defensive back for Oak Ridge who played great in the '03 playoff game and i can't come up with his name... Roll Tribe Roll
  21. Watchdog, It was actually three (3) coaches. Roll Tribe Roll
  22. OakRidgeCat, The Dobyns-Bennett PTSA is the sponsor of this week's tailgate dinner and they are serving Pratts' Bar-B-Q (a local bar-b-q legend) pulled pork or chicken sandwiches, cole slaw, beans, and a dessert, with iced tea for only $6.00...Cat all of you Wildcat fans are certainly welcome...they are serving in the Buck Van Huss Dome lobby at the top of the ramp just beside the main entrance to J. Fred Johnson Stadium...have a safe trip up (and back) and come eat with the Indians... Roll Tribe Roll
  23. Bearden fans, the Dobyns-Bennett Quarterback Club is hosting a Tailgate Dinner from 5:00pm until 7:15pm tonight in the Buck Van Huss Dome lobby (the lobby of the D-B Dome) with outstanding bar-b-q and the fixins from Broad Street Bar-B-Q (a local bar-b-q legend) and you are all certainly welcome and invited to attend. The cost for food and drink is only $6.00 (it is a fundraiser for the QB Club). Should be a great game tonight with maroon being the color-me-beautiful color of the night...have a safe trip. Roll Tribe Roll
  24. D-B's varsity has had very few cramps thus far this season; much less than their first two opponents. D-B has also had two kids (I am aware of) transfer to North to obtain desired playing time. I coached Bobby a couple of years and know him to be a real good kid and a hard worker...was at one time a pretty good straight on kicker. Roll Tribe Roll
