  1. Well said! I agree with you 100% I have noticed that no one from Lincoln County has been on here saying a word until now. I am rather disappointed in our fans myself. I noticed at the start of the game Friday night, the stands on the home side were half full, but by the second half kickoff they were full. I am in direct contact with the team and no one is more happy to see this group of guys accomplish what they did this past Friday night but it is time to focus on the Franklin County Rebels. Anyone that knows much about football knows that it much harder to get up for the game AFTER the big game than it is to get for the big game itself. We need to focus on the rest of the season and concentrate on being the 2002 Region 3 - 5A champions.
  2. I will have to go with Lincoln County to win it. This week should go a long way as far as shaping up the region picture. With only 4 region games remaining, a loss could devestate anyone's chances of winning it. I think both teams will be over the jubilation of their big wins last week and will be ready to go for this one.
  3. Hey dude, you want to know why LC is not liked? You are doing a pretty good job answering your own question on here doing all this trash talking "lil rich boys" crap. Don't be on here posting that garbage. Let the football team speak for itself. That is what this board is for, to post the positives, not getting on here arguing back forth.
  4. Lincoln County over Franklin County Cookeville over Warren County Cumberland County over Coffee County Riverdale over Blackman Oakland over Lebanon Smyrna over Mt. Juliet Gallatin over LaVergne
  5. I hope Murphy loses his butt this year and gets stuck holding a lot of unsold books. When he had it published locally, it was always available 2 to 3 weeks before the season started and this year they were no where to be found, until the last few days. Even if it was not Murphy's fault, he knew he was taking that chance when he went to syndicated publication. I have bought one for the past 8 years, but do not see the need to throw away 7 bucks 4 games into the season this year. [Edited by LCstatman on 9-14-02 10:16P]
  6. Show me on that tape where Riverdale shot themselves in the foot even once. They did not turn the ball over even one time, they intercepted a pass in the endzone on the last play of the first half to prevent a touchdown by the Falcon's, they only had 6 penalties for a total of 45 yards, not to mention the fact that Lincoln County ran zero, yes I said zero, offensive plays in the first quarter. The Falcon offense never touched the ball until 11:00 minutes to go in the second quarter. The only thing I saw the Warriors do wrong was the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty by the receiver who caught the lone touchdown pass which backed them up 15 yards on the PAT, causing the kicker to miss it which ended up being the difference in the ball game. That was a lack of discipline by one player, not the whole team. I can't blame you for having faith in your team, but after having seen what happened to them against Coffee County, I just don't see it happening. b>Cookeville was very UNPREPARED in my book. Lastnight they showed what they can do if they come together as one team and play their hearts out. Im telling you straight up...Cookeville is not finished! If you cannot be prepared for a region game when you only have 5, then that is nothing but poor coaching. I have a feeling that Coach Joslin had them prepared for the game, they just didn't execute. I don't see where you can say they are region champion material when they have beaten a winless White County team, a 1 win 2 loss Lebanon team, and lost, which was a region game, to 1 and 2 Coffee County and is the only team the Red Raiders have beaten. I see them as a first round road team if they finish in the top four. [Edited by LCstatman on 9-14-02 10:27P] [Edited by LCstatman on 9-14-02 10:28P]

  8. I would like to say that bleedblue's opinions are not those of the entire Lincoln County community. It was a tremendous game between two well prepared and coached teams. Riverdale did not turn the ball over a time, and the Falcons had an interception in the end zone on the last play of the first half for their only one of the night. It came down to who excuted down the stretch and on this night it happened to be Lincoln County. Riverdale has a great team and will be a force to be reckoned with in the post season. Anyone that thinks they won't needs to wake up. Last night's game could have served as a wake up call for the Warriors. Lose in the regular season, you play next week, lose in the playoffs and your season is over, ala 1999 when Dickson County knocked the Warriors out in the first round in Murfreesboro 21 to 14 in OT. I would like to congratulate coach Louis Thompson on his victory, maybe it will help to quieten down all the whining I have been hearing. Maybe whoever the coward was that planted a tree on the field a couple of weeks ago has it stuck where the sun can't shine on it!!!!!
  9. After week 3, does anyone wish to change their order of finish for this region? It sounds like it could be tougher than it is given credit for.
  10. Riverdale didn't look too flat from where I was watching. Both teams were pumped and ready to go. This was a war between two rival teams. In my opinion, the better team won tonight. Taron Henry #4 was the player injured for the Warriors. The last report I heard, which came from a Riverdale team doctor, was that he had a dislocated right knee combined with a broken right leg and is scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday.
  11. That is a good point, but I have played against Cumberland county and they play very well. Their main weapon is thier linemen especially on the offensive side. I havn't played aginst LC yet so I can't really say much about them until next Friday when we play. don't yall see that if coffee county beats warren county, like yall are predicting, that there is no way that they can finish 2 to last? you only need 2 region wins to make the playoffs. did you all forget that Coffee beat Cookeville?!? [Edited by footballfanatic on 9-12-02 9:37A] No, actually I didn't forget that Coffee County beat Cookeville, and the more I hear, the more that Coffee County sounds like they might very well win more than 2 region games. They are either better than Cookeville thought, or the Cavaliers geared their defense to stop the pass and the Red Raiders beat them with the run. At any rate, I still say that next Friday night should really shape the picture of the region after Lincoln County travels to Winchester to play Franklin County, Cumberland County plays host to Coffee County and Cookeville journies to Warren County. After that, the picture should start to clear up a bit.
  12. LC, this is a tough one since I haven't seen CC play or anyone they've played this year! If i were going just by tradition and strength of schedule that's a no brainer, LC of course! I know that's not exactly the answer you wanted, but at this time that's the best I can do! Hope this helps. Be talking to ya later, I got to go to work!
  13. You seem to be knowledgable on high school football. Let me ask you a question and get an outside the region opinion on who you think will win our region. Everyone seems to be thinking since Cumberland County is 3 and 0 that they are going to take it. Compare their schedule to Lincoln County's and look at each teams strength of schedule, not to mention opponents overall records, as well as past history and tell me your opinion on who you think "should" win this region this year.
  14. I agree, the Franklin outcome should have been different. We fumbled going in on the 1 with about 10 seconds left and lost 7 to 6. But hey, that is part of the game, you have to hold onto the ball in order to win. Against Blackman, we were down 14 to 6 when Blackman tried to run a reverse and our defensive end hit the reverse guy causing a fumble, which we recovered, but the refs called an inadvertant whistle and gave the ball back to Blackman and then they scored and then scored again on the insuing kickoff when our guy let the ball bounce by him rather than falling on it and they recovered. That call seemed to take the wind out of LC's sails but I still think Blackman had the better team. If I had to make a pick on the game this week, I'd say that Blackman wins by 4. Too much overall balance, however, I would not consider it an upset if the Rebels win, they have a good football team as well. Good luck to both teams, I will be anxious to hear the final score.
  15. That is a good point, but I have played against Cumberland county and they play very well. Their main weapon is thier linemen especially on the offensive side. I havn't played aginst LC yet so I can't really say much about them until next Friday when we play. I will be curious to see who you think will win the region after you play Lincoln County September 20 in Winchester. It should be a good game, it is a great rivalry between two schools who have played against each other for years. See you there!
  16. Just because Cumberland County is 3 and 0, lets not go jumping the gun. They have defeated 3 teams with a combined record of 1 win and 7 losses. That does not constitute them being a powerhouse. Lincoln County has lost to 2 teams that are both undefeated. Look for the Jets to be sporting a better record when they host the Falcons come November 2nd but the Falcons should still take care of business on their trip to Crossville. Lincoln County still has to face 2 defending state champions in Riverdale and McCallie that should toughen the Falcons up for the stretch run in the region. I still say it will be: 1. Lincoln County 2. Cumberland County 3. Franklin County 4. Cookeville 5. Coffee County 6. Warren County
  17. It was my understanding the game was postponed until tomorrow (Saturday) night due to the weather.
  18. Those rankings are a joke! The only logical way I see that they came up with this dishonor to Tennessee High School Football was by taking all of the teams, putting their names into a hat, and allowing a 2 year old to pick one at a time and rank them as they are pulled. I have printed this article and am looking forward to the final regular season ranking so I can compare it to this one and send it to them to prove they need to stay out of the ranking business. [Edited by LCstatman on 8-21-02 3:45P]
  19. How do you guys think this region will finish this season? Here's my 2 cents: 1. Lincoln County 2. Franklin County 3. Cookeville 4. Cumberland County 5. Coffee County 6. Warren County Let me know what you think!
  20. So, how do you think they will finish in their region?
  21. What are you guys' thoughts on Warren County's region? Where do you think they will finish? Who do you think will win it?
