  1. No one is talking about the Trousdale game...I am referring to the 4-3A fan base that always wants to throw up that fact that Speed will be crushed in the face of Size!!! We have proven that formula wrong many times, this and other years!!! My point is this, dont underestimate the Speed and dont lull yourself into thinking that we are going to be pushed around. You dont make it to the Semis 3 years in a row on Speed alone! Go Falcons...Time to Represent!!!
  2. Antwan....dont get me wrong, I am sure Smith has plenty of weapons and talent, or they wouldnt be where they are. I just get tired of the posters (especially the fans of Trousdale and Macon) that get on here and say that we are gonna "get hit in the mouth" and then we will forget how to play. anyone that has followed the Falcons and the Semi-final matches knows that we are not one-dimensional. I think this will be a great matchup. Home field advantage will be key for Owls and should prove to make this another classic in Middle-Tennessee Go Falcons!!!!!!
  3. Allin- More aggressive teams always have more penalties than their opposition. Like you said, "coming from an outsider." If you know anything about our program, we never are one to blame the refs or use them as a scapegoat. What you look for from the refs is consistency and calling it both ways...that didnt happen last night!!! No one is using it as an excuse...Just stating that it is nonsense to have the refs affect the game that way. Enough about that...Yet again AE is nothing more than a bug on our Playoff Windshield...Bring on the Owls!!!
  4. This sounds like a regurgitation of the last 2 years in the Semis. Of course, Fulton has the speed and quickness and the 4-3A teams have the Size and strength. And I already see the same fans that were on the boards the passed 2 years saying that the size will overcome and stun our speed…just ask Macon who hit who last year. I think you will be surprised at our size, as well. Like I have said throughout the playoffs, we are defending Champs, but we still have something to prove every week, especially with this team…this was suppose to be a rebuilding year, but forget that, now-a-days we just reload. The Owls better be ready to run come Friday and watch out for the Deuce! Go Falcons, Keep the Streak over 4-3A alive and let’s get back to the show!!!
  5. KWalker - I totally agree with everything you stated, especially about the phantom penalties. It would have been a travesty to have to sit here post-game with a loss that was ultimately decided by the refs. All the late hits and unsportsmanlike penalties were as bogus as you can get. I really dont know what the refs were trying to prove, but someone with TSSAA needs to take a good look at the game film. Like I said before the game...Preparation, Motivation and Intangibles would decide the game. We definitely came out with fire and showed the fortitude to overcome the refs and a late charge by the Runners. Congrats to the Falcons players and staff!!! Off to Smith County for a modern day battle of Carthage!!!
  6. You dont have to cross a two person bridge over a bed of limestone, to get to the visitors side like at the Creekbank, do you???
  7. Thanks Antwan...Looks alot like Trousdale's visitors bleachers.
  8. I think the people in Region 4-3A know plenty about the Falcons and our style...tell us a little about the Owls, besides Al Gore being your native son. How is the stadium and field? Does anyone have pics? Feels alot like 2002, but this time the road to State travels through Carthage, instead of Hartsville. It seems like every year we have something else to prove. Great job jumping on the Runners and also overcoming some questionable calls!!! Good Luck Falcons!!!
  9. The Reports of the Falcon's Demise, have been Greatly Exaggerated What is lost in all this rhetoric and discussion, is the fact that the Falcons are a Program on a MISSION! Yeah, Fulton lost plenty of All-Star caliber starters the last 2 years, but now-a-days we just Re-load and our players develop confidence and know how to be WINNERS, especially come playoff time. This fact will be the ultimate factor that decides the game on Friday night. Preparation will also be key...and no one can argue with the fact that our coaches are master motivators and skilled strategists. You can be sure that we will be prepared for battle. No doubt that AE has a fine team (both must or they wouldnt be this far)...but the Falcon's intangibles and discipline will decide this one. Go Falcons!!!!!!! -M. Smoker
  10. AERunner- Your reverse psychology is quite humorous. I guess you subscribe to the adage...If you say it enough, maybe it will come true?!?!?!? Good luck with that fantasy!!! Well, over here in the Falcon's REALITY, we plan to go out Friday with the same attitude we had last year in our playoff matchup. And I dont think I need to remind you of that outcome...I’m sure that agonizing memory is planted deep in all the Roadrunner fan's minds. Like you said, it is going to be a long weekend…or better yet a long year. But look at the bright side, you can always tell everyone that you play in the same district as the Mighty Falcons!!!
  11. Contrary to the AE opinion...I think the pressure is actually on the Roadrunners this week. They are the undefeated team, with #1 ranking, playing at home and already won the earlier matchup...these things definitely put the pressure on the Runners. Fulton will play as the underdog and that is just the way we like it. Furthermore, I dont think that this Fulton team is resting on last year's laurels or successes. The players and coaches have treated this as a new year, a new challenge, from the beginning...Let me remind people that the rings were put on the shelf when preseaon started. Fulton has really developed their strengths on offense and the defense has played outstanding all year, especially as of late. Look forward to the game on Friday. Go Falcons!!!
  12. AERoadrunner- One word for you...DILUSIONAL!!! Fulton clearly came out with the momentum in the game. If we keep even a portion of that momentum, we would have made it come down to the wire. In the second half, we began to sputter on offense and then started forcing some ill-advised passes for turnovers. Not to take anything away from AE's defense, they played phenomenally...but to say AE “flat out beat Fulton,” is a bit of an overkill. In a rematch, I am sure we would make the appropriate adjustments. Seems like you have a short memory...let me take you back to last year's playoffs!
  13. Also went to the movie tonight and have to put it with Remember the Titans in a toss up. They are actually 2 different types of movies. Remember the Titans was more inspirational and FNL was more thought provoking. I tend to lean a little bit more towards Remember the Titans b/c it more closely relates to the type of football and social situation of my highschool. If I went to a 5A school in Texas (or a rural school for that matter), It would have probably touched me much more. When one considers the question of the best sports movie, I think all people, according to the experiences they had, would claim that certain movies touched them differently. For example, I think Hoosier was a great movie, but b/c I didnt play highschool hoops, it didnt move me like a highschool football movie does. Enough on that subject, back to FNL. Since reading the book in 1995, I have referred numerous people to this book. I have always been intrigued by the way that the people in this town developed their identities and esteem from the statis of the team, year in and year out. The book stated, "in bad times, the unemployment rate skyrocketed; in good times the murder rate skyrockets, but every Friday night from Sept thru Dec...all troubles seem to vanish and this hardluck town becomes a place where dreams come true." I couldnt imagine, putting the psychological burden of the town onto the shoulders of 16 and 17 year-olds (kind of reminds you of how some people are with UT football, here in Knoxville). The movie was extremely consistent with the book, esp. by portraying how depressing the city looked. The coin flip was classic...seems like an odd way to settle a tiebreaker (it would be kind of like having the Commissioner himself pick the tie-breaker for the SEC championship game, if 3 teams tie in division...oh yeah they actually do that...crazy!!). Booby was to the "T", except for not having the "Terminator X" towel, although he did have the Public Enemy jacket to make up for it. Some things that didn't correspond to the book dealt with the mathup with Carter: game was played in Austin at Univ Texas Memorial stadium in the pouring rain, it was a semi-final matchup, and the score and ending was a little different. Nevertheless, the movie is a must see!
  14. I had to read the Book in my History of Sport class at UT in the mid 90s. One of the best sports books I have ever read...Cant wait to see the movie. Just hope it does the book justice! I also remember that at the end of the book, they briefly mention Permian/Odessa losing to Dallas Carter in the State finals and the fact that many of the players from the Dallas Carter team (i.e. LB Micheal Barrows) were involved in recruiting scandals...it seems like the book implied UT and Fulmer to some extent. I will see if I can find the book and give the details, if anyone is interested.
  15. Knoxville (not previously mentioned): Reggie Cobb- RB Knox Central, Tampa Bay and Green Bay. Mike Cofer- LB Knox Rule, Lions JJ McCleskey- DB Knox Karns, Saints John Bruhin- OL Powell, Tampa Bay Jackie Walker- LB Knox Fulton, Cowboys DD Lewis- LB Knox Fulton, Cowboys Jykine Bradley- WR/DB Knox Fulton, Bills practice squad Reggie and Raleigh McKenzie- Knox Austin East, Redskins and Da Raiders Joey Clinkscales- WR Knox AE, Pittsburg Craig Colquitt- P Knox Bearden Knoxville Area: Spencer Riley- OL Jefferson County, Pittsburg? Shannon Mitchell- TE/LB Alcoa, Chargers Billy "Turk" Williams- WR Alcoa, Phoenix Cards Andy Kelly- QB Rhea County, Pittsburg Charles McRae- OL Clinton, Tampa Bay "Little Man" Stewart- RB Morristown West, Jacksonville and Lions Bruce Wilkerson- OL Philadelphia, TN, Da Raiders Dale Jones, LB Cleveland, Cowboys
  16. Copeland was also a huge hit in the now defunct XFL.
  17. HTV, Thanks for the info!! Good stuff!!
  18. How did the scrimmage go? If it was anything like last year, Powell couldn't handle the speed...but that was the case for most teams last year!!!
  19. I am not taking anything away from CAK...I was simply stating that 4 players from any school is a stretch. I realize the team is purely your opinion...My opinion is that your team looks silly and very biased and unresearched.
  20. To All: If you had been following my posts on this subject, I never got on here crying about certain players not be on the team...or saying we should have had this player or this guy b/c of the stats. I never got that far b/c I read the earlier posts on how it was determined and started to expound on my argument that I thought that it had NO MERIT!!!! I am not attacking the fact that Fulton didnt have players on the team...I am attacking the structure and nature of the selection process. I still say the selection process is bogus and therefore the team is NONSENSE. Heck, I have a parallel idea...I could invite all my boys over and we all could vote on a team and then when we are done, post the team on its own website or send as a Letter to a newspaper Editor!!! Does this make the team a legit allstar team or the TFCA team a legit team...I SAY AN EMPHATIC NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! We can set here until next year and argue about who should or shouldnt be on the team, but tell me...Can you argue against the facts that I have stated above?
  21. There are players in 8 man football that amass 3000-4000 rushing yards per year and dont go as high Div 2...what does that tell you????
  22. HMMMMM...So if Mike Vick played in the KIL, he would have the same stats as if he were at UT...INTERESTING LOGIC!!!
  23. All these people saying to "stop crying" are fans of the players that have unjustifiably made the team...GIVE ME A BREAK!!! We were too busy winning a state championship to go to the Bull Lodge to sip capuccino and vote our losing team's players onto an Imaginary All State team!!!
  24. And who do the mighty CAK play??? That's what I thought!!!
