  1. Not many teams actually run the true triple option. There is a difference in the veer and the triple. Fomrations and blocking schemes mostly. We used to run this out of double slots exclusively, but have gotten away from it because we have had more passing type QBs in the past few years. I play in a triple option offense right now in college and it is much easier to run this in college because of the rules. Cut blocking on LBs and on the outside is allowed. I think that it is hard to run it in high school because of the rules. Hard for a WR or slotback to stalk block on the perimeter. It's hard to be exclusive, but if you mix it in like Coach Clark has over the last 7 or 8 years, it is a good high school offense.
  2. that was 98 and 2000 and 2002 teams that were in the semis. We weren't bad that year but an 8-4 or 9-3 record (can't remember)was not good as some of the other recent teams. The senior class that year was not as strong as the ones that we have had since 96 (when our string of great teams started). Most of the starters in 99 were juniors and sophomores. In 98, the starters were seniors and sophomores.
  3. Talked to T last night about riding down to MTSU if we get there. I wish that I could be there tonight. It used to be that games like this were common for us. I wish my boys well and hope that they can pull it off. Either way, they need to realize that they have made alot of people proud and guys like me jealous that I wasn't able to host a substate in my day. Good lusk to Charlie and the TRibe tonight.
  4. Treadway, I just hated you guys and I wanted to group you with the other teams that I hated. There was one excuse that I always heard and it was when you guys would lose to us in anything. "We're not as big as DB or JC, that's why they beat us." Glad that you guys finally decided to drop down. Also, you guys would not play us in football until 99, when you thought you would beat us because it was the worst team we had since 95. But it was the same result.
  5. Good job Indians. Treadway must be mad that his boys can't come in 3rd in the district and region anymore since they only have to play the "powerhouse cougars" to win their district anymore
  6. OR was one of the worst beatings that I ever took on the hardwood. The 75-25 beating we took my sophmore year to the Hill at home after we almost beat them in JC that year was probably the low point in DB basketball history. No offense to Daniels (JK) but I wished that I could have played for Charlie. Anybody gets the DB score during the game, post it.
  7. I agree that DB fans are acting like what Elizabethon, Bristol, or South fans act like when we lose. However, this is how everyone reacted to DB getting beat in basketball until the mid 90s rolled around. With a couple of more successful seasons, we will be back to that status. Science hill's talent is declining because they don't have any Jovann's and Field's any more. But the system is in place and as long as Poe can get his players to buy into that, they are going to be real good. People forget that Poe is a great coach. When he was at Crockett, he was the best coach in NET not named Pitts. As much as I hate to say it, they aren't going away anytime soon..
  8. As a basketball alum, I want to say congrats to the boys. Even more congrats if they win this evening. Way to go. It is good to see that we are playing for the region title for the 1st time since my freshman year (95-96). We were lucky to get there that year when we beat that great Betsy team in the semis. Then we proceeded to get drilled by JC in the finals (Jovann's senior year) and Oak Ridge in the substate. Hopefully, this edition will be better.
  9. I hope they beat the crybabies by 100. I hate TN High more than anyone around. They are DB and Science Hill wannabes. Then we need to get to get ready for a slugfest in the finals. I miss tourney time
  10. You still got the same e-mail address? [Edited by DBIndian99 on 3-5-03 2:17P]
  11. Lamon Williams: Dobyns-Bennett. I know that this guy's name is showing up everywhere but he is a stud. From what everyone has told me he was the best player in the school as a freshman, but Charlie thought he was immature(or something like that) Then this year he was on the JV until after Christmas. He has an excellent chance of being the best all-around athlete that NET has seen in many years.
  12. Sounds like it was a tough one. Hope that our roll continues. I believe that if we can get the hill or Greeneville, we can beat anyone that region 2 can offer. Hopefully, if we can make to the state, I can make it. By the way, when is the state tourney?
  13. I'm not trying to say that he isn't a great player. My point was that just because you are a great high school player doesn't mean that you will be a great college player. Cecil made himself a stud. I'm the biggest DB fan in the world and I want to see Lamon go Miami or FSU or any other top notch school. The teams that Lamon is putting these numbers up against are not as tough as the teams that guys like me and Teddy faced. Lamon is the go to guy as a sophmore. Most times at DB, people have to wait to be the man. He hasn't. That shows that he is a stud. I wish him well and hope that he gets some help because the next2 years people will worry about him first.
  14. is JPATS5 a DB boy because he sure sounds like it. Thanks for realizing a good program when you see it unlike the rest of the DB haters. And I saw in another thread that Science Hill people were talking about their recievers. With the exception of Abrayo and Miller, they haven't had squat in the past few years. Bryson is nowhere close to Lamon. We put out the best skill people year in and year out in East TN. Gaines, Graves, Sensabaugh (will be in the NFL), Chris Henry just to name a few.
  15. I can't believe that people are comparing a guy that is going to the league with a guy that has played only one year of varsity. Lamon might be a better high school player than Cecil but that definitely does not mean that Lamon is going to be a college stud. Cecil played for a terrible team. Believe me, this guy could have played for any 1-a team in the country. He's a linebacker playing WR. He's a freak of nature. Unfortunate that there were QBs at Sevier and Robinson middle schools that were better than ETSU's QBs. I hope that Lamon turns into a great player, but there is no comparing Cecil and him right now. Good luck to both and I hope that Cecil does well in the league.
  16. Garber, Trangarger, Dalley, the whole starting 5 (Mills, Black, Smith, Carnes,Corum) from 93 and Ricardo Hale, Rashad Wolfe, William Miller (if he'd staid out of trouble) There would have been more but they wasted away in the "dark days". I'm sure that there are a few more. Garber, though I wasn't old enough or maybe even alive, was the best from what I have heard. I wasn't too bad when I wanted to be. I don't deserve to be mentioned with any of those guys up there though. [Edited by DBIndian99 on 3-3-03 8:30P]
  17. Butch, what is going on big man? This is Jesse. Where you going for the region? Do you get sent to region 2 or 3. Anyway, you always had a thing for the Hill and don't lie. Just messing with you. I bet you like Charlie alot more than that guy I played for. Say what's up to your dad and Barrett when you see them. By the way, your opinon counts here, so who is better JC or DB? You don't have to answer that if you don't want anyone from Johnson City to get mad at you. Good luck to you and I think I am the only guy in Kingsport who thinks that you and Whitson were fair to us.
  18. falcons03 or whatever is a genious. He just lost his privileges to post on this thread since he doesn't even know that betsy is AA even though they are in his district. Very bad
  19. if it is over my spring break which is in 2 weeks. Because I'm coming to Kingsport on my break because I am broke as a joke in GA. tired of this place and ready to get out But anyway, for all of those people that say we can't beat Maryville, they are crazy. The one game that I saw all year and it was probably about as bad as they played all year. Billy Donovan's boy was on fire, but down low is where Maryville won the game. Wooten did not play and I thought that Morrison was the worst post player DB had ever had by the way that he played that night. He got bullied around. Apparently he is good by the way that everyone on here says. (Unless the only people that post for DB are his parents). Anyway, don't want to jinx them because DB is cursed. Good Luck to our boys and represent all of the has beens and never was.
  20. of course, how you doing? Just enjoying the fact that we can finally beat the hill again. upset that I can't see it
  21. Just want to know who you are. You are a great fan. I graduated in 99 and wore 14. That should give away who I am. Your outlines of the game are great. Good luck tribe
  22. Don't blast church hill. Good people come from there. My parents, half of the football coaches, and some of the best athletes in DB history come from there. It's a good place. Worry about Johnson City and Bristol. Quit blasting them. By the way, kick Johnson City's butt. Never did when I was playing except for three years in football.
  23. Friday night is not going to settle this fight. Barring a mejor letdown, DB and Johnson City will play in the regional finals. I wish they could see them play. I wish I could have seen Dale cry last night as his team got handled. Not much gave me as much pleasure in high school as beating those babies from Bristol and lsiten to their fans and players cry. My senior year was the best when they had a big lead on us at the half in the first round and we came back and spanked them. One of the highlights of my prep career.
  24. WSP, you don't sound too smart, but your DUDE reference was absolutely classic. If they would let me give you a good mark I would
