  1. Pedo I'll give you softball, but baseball is not clear cut CC every year. Coach Greene, King, & Jones have done tremendous work in making a 1st class program and competitive (if not the favorite) in every game. 2 years ago CC didn't get out of the district & the year before that they won the district in regular season but dropped 2 in a row in the tourney final to Columbia @ Lincoln Co & got beat @ Riverdale in the region 1st round. All I stated was that most CC posters over-estimate CC talent & play down each opponent, regardless of the sport. I'm just happy that the majority of the CC fans that I hear in the stands at the various ballgames don't post because it will always be the officials, umps, refs, etc. fault. Don't you agree? Believe me...I've had close to a decades worth of CLOSE observation in many of the sports.
  2. Good season Coffee County. Here & there it could have been different but you all played hard & didn't quit. That statement is a testament to your coaches too. Now for all the CC posters on Coach T... please don't jump to the baseball, softball, track, tennis, etc. sites & proclaim that ________________ (player or team) is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It really is embarassing to read the posts of many CC supporters. Its great that you are loyal and or school spirited, but c'mon be realistic! So and so for this many (yards, td's, points, blocks, hits, strikeouts etc.) I want to think that most of you are intelligent & sports knowledgable, but CC will not win every game and you must look at the wins against teams they do get. CC has to play perfect in about every sport to have a chance to beat the suburban or urban teams. If you want to question my comment, thats fine. I wish the best for CC in all sports. I just hate seeing knuckleheads on this site talking trash and making CC look bush league.
  3. Word on the street is the Raiders travel to Oakland H.S. on Tuesday night. Game time TBA. Good job tonight boys.
  4. Correcting a misprint... it's Coffee Co. both boys & girls, at Bradley Central on Friday and both of the teams at Cleveland H.S. on Saturday. Game time is 6 EST - 5 CST.
  5. Last meeting...Week 2 of 1996 - '97 season Coffee Co 21 Lebanon 17. This meeting... prediction is 35-14 with the host team winning. I hope CC will prevail but I don't think they can match the athleticism of Lebanon. Lincoln Co pretty much dominated CC 3 weeks ago & I wasn't too impressed with the Falcons. CC needs to force some turnovers & get a lead & go ball control to win the game.
  6. I forgot about "Wildcats"...Goldie Hawn, Wesley Snipes, and Woody Harrleson. Pretty good but not gaining any Oscars.
  7. Go to espn.com and the site has a special feature on the movie. The actual 1988 events as seen & written by the author are compared to the "reel" events depicted in the movie. It also has some interviews, where they are nows, etc. with some of the former players. I tell you this as I tell my classes...you can't beat the 80's and the generation that grew up during this time. (Please excuse me there...the WWII era citizens are the "Greatest Generation" if I could steal the tribute from Tom Brokaw) The book & I bet the movie will make me think about my playing days & make me want to pull out "Glory Days" by Springsteen or "I Go Back" by Chesney.

    Alma Mater

Stratford, sing thy praises of glory, filled with honor & loyalty, o'er hill and dale. Stratford, sing forever the rally, of the thundering victories, of thy dear name. Time neer will plunder, the memories we hold. Oh alma mater, oh crimson and gold. HAIL! Stratford, alma mater of mothers, wave thy banner forever, oh Stratford High. Stratford High School...(Stratford, Conn) North Paraders (Red Devils) 115+ years graduating classes. 1 state championship, 2 runner-ups, 4 semi-finals (since Conn. began with playoffs in 1976)
  9. 1996 Riverdale 35 Coffee County 14. It was 21 -14 right before half & Riverdale took back the kick after a CC score to go up 2 td's. Anderson is a great kid & all-around athlete (track & could've been basketballer if not for the knee) I am just thinking about many of those monsters you see that run 4.5 - 4.6.
  10. Incredible book. I remember reading about Dallas Carters Jesse Armstead in Street & Smith's as a senior then seeing him when I'd go watch the NY GIANTS. (I was class of 1988) I hope the flick is 1/2 as good as the book. BTW...for any sociology or contemporary issues teachers out there, "Friday Night Lights" book is a great read for the classroom (race, economics, education, relationships, etc.)
  11. Tn radio guy... Anderson was good but no D-1 prospect at TE. Your getting way ahead of youreself. D-1 TE's are 6'3" 230+ that can run. He could play NAIA, or D-1AAA (Peay) Red raider 4 life...the Tennessean only reports stats from Middle Tn and only those that are faxed or called in. Nunley is excellent but I doubt he will get it. C. Elam was twice the back & played defense & punted on a better CC team & he only got Region offensive player of the year in '96. (Eric Locke - Riverdale POY & Mr. Football)
  12. Nunley is a very good back in a system that is suited for him - Delaware Wing-T. He however isn't the best receiver out of the backfield. Put him 5-6 yards deep & he wouldn't have the yards because the CC line would have to drive block & not just create a gap or seam - standard for the buck. Jake is one of the best in busting it to the sideline as if he was on a veer track, which brings me to my 2nd point. CC only has itself to blame for losing quality head coaches like Feguson, his predecessor who won a 5A title at Brentwood, & Browne (who ran the veer) is calling offensive shots at West Georgia. CC finished 2nd in the region in 1996 to 5A champ Riverdale with Browne, with a lot tougher schedule than CC will probably ever see. If the school board, central office & school administration gave out a fraction of $$ or got behind them for facility upgrades back in the mid 1990's than who knows if those long seasons not to long ago would have been there.
  13. We finally got all the CC players off this site from making ridiculous posts and now we have pedo 29. If you didn't play the sport in h.s. than you really don't need to be on here breaking down CC's offense & defense & making references about an ejected player who has won their appeal of a game & tape you haven't seen. I hope CC wins tonight, we sure as _ _ _ _ don't want to face Riverdale if we make the playoffs. CC fans, don't fuel pedo's fire...he needs to get on with his after high school life. Someone please tell him this at Sonic after the game tonight.

    Cumberland County?

Just like Coffee County, Crossville is in the best region that they could be placed in. We here in Manchester haven't got much speed or superior athletes. Except for maybe Lincoln County, all the other schoolos of the region have about the same demographics. The games have been somewhat competitive between the all the schools in the past few years. Your coach is a fine coach. 35 or so dressed for 5A is tough to compete with. I saw that your frosh squad has record numbers. Build on that year and the boys will come out. K-8 schools are like T-top Trans Ams... so yesterday. Good luck Jets & Coach Watt.
  15. I hope last nights game sends the message to the Red Raider players & fans that post on this site. CC really has no recent (1980+) tradition. I don't think CC can under estimate anyone ever. Historically, the team & athletic talent is not the strongest in Manchester. Regoup, support your coaches, work hard & play the game. Quit talking on this site until you prove yourself & get a quality win. Beating THS, who is severly banged up & shorthanded, would be nice but it means nothing for the playoffs. I see a game that shoud be circled...in two weeks at Crossville. Good luck!!
  16. Coffee County must have just gotten the internet because the only posters are high school players that just joined within the past two weeks. I say Coffee Co. by 2-3 touchdowns vs. Cookeville, but I'll be intelligent about it and not call anyone out. Its not to hard to trash talk against 0 - for their history siegel. Deja Vu from last year as we talked & got beat by 0 for their history Wilson Central. You won't catch the Vols gloating when they beat UNLV, they'll need to beat Georgia as CC will have to beat Franklin Co. or Lincoln Co. to gain some respect.
  17. Growing up & playing in Connecticut... Dad was the umpire of his crew & I got to see QB Steve Young several times of the Greenwich H.S. Cardinals in the late 1970's. Defensively I played with Curtis Eller for Stratford H.S. Curt was a LB who later became 2 time I-AA All American and the defensive player of the year in I-AA at Villanova in 1993.
  18. In any all star game like this one, I don't believe that it comes down to coaching or even overall talent. I've witnessed several KY-TN games from both sides of the border and from my vantage point of a former football coach what matters is heart & individual plays. Without defensive stunting & how each squad shares the number of snaps between players it comes down to who executes the key plays when given the opportunity. As for UT vs UK previously posted, that is a whole 'nother can of worms. UK can't touch UT's recruiting so 21 straight over the Cats is not emblematic of state vs. state.
  19. I hope not...word has it that 2 underclassmen starters from last year quit this summer T. Schmidt & J. West. Anybody with more info?
  20. I heard his time ...9:31 was better than his previous best by 11 seconds!!! Congratulations state champ Alan!!! (& Coach Jarrell) Good luck in the race tonight Alan & for Joseph Slater (Chi-town) in his sprints today.
  21. Sportaholic is correct...Guru & the CC program go far back and their is nothing but respect from each side. I hate to see all these "young guns" posting detrimental posts when they don't have any idea of the fellowship these coaches have. By young guns I mean the relatively new supporters of CC. Radio & newspaper fellows...your support is wonderful but you guys are supposed to be professionals. I don't think John Ward, Cawood Ledford, and most all other writers/broadcasters get on line and try to diminish other fans opinions. It should not bother adults. Hold yourself above the student and parent replys as they don't have 1/2 the informaton as you both do. Good luck CC (baseball & softball) in the regional finals.
  22. CC softball 1-0, and the CC baseball team 1-0 in 8 innings over Riverdale
  23. Congrats to Coffee County players & coaches. Good job this year. Through all the off field emotions of #7, (I know he's celebrating now) key injuries, and a late slide, the team kept at it. Good post Mike McGee. A good man and a great writer of high school sports. He always was fair & loyal to CC when he had his Sportsleader paper. Good luck in the regional tourney.
  24. The last 2 posts are correct. This type of situation facing Coach Greene has been all to evident lately. Players can't take an old-school tough competitor coach. They turn to Mom & Dad to run interference to solve the so-called problem for the individual. Coach Greene has forgotten more about baseball than any Blackman parent-player has ever known in their life. I hope the administration looks deeply into this situation and not just at the upset at losing players & parents point of view.
  25. Yeah UCONN may not win it this year but thats okay. I'll take Geno over Pat any day as well as both the mens & ladies teams, fans & following.
