  1. I wish people would leave politics out of one of the last remaining escapes for kids and adults. There are enough problems in the world without dragging them into the area of sports and entertainment. That goes far both sides, the leftwingers as well as the rightwingers. Leave politics out of kids sports, please. And don't forget, this is America where everyone can agree to disagree about anything while expressing their opinions.
  2. who is your team? also, your coach may have requested these times, check with him/her.
  3. illpetey, I have not tried it this year, but last year for any scores that you put in yourself, you could change them by clicking on the score in the your schedule page, and then make any changes you needed. Like I said, that was last year, try it now and see what happens.
  4. forecast in the 70's. may be the best weather ever for the tourney on friday and saturday, with slight chance of showers for thursday. hopefully, forecast won't change and biggest and best tournament in the state finally gets weather to match!
  5. 99 out of 100, huh? that reminds me of something old Ben Franklin (the old dead guy on the $100 bill) said, "everybody is crazy except for me and thee, and I have my doubts about thee" (lol)
  6. well put catchman, you deserve a gold star for this.
  7. Kristen White of Hendersonville. Just received a "PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP" offer from Maryville, and is also reviewing offers from Sewanee, Rhodes, and Auburn. What is commendable about this? --- These are all offers of the "cerebral" variety, of the academic kind, of the intellectual type. Kristen, also the senior SS and who either holds or is on track to break most all the Hendersonville hitting records, was also expected to receive offers for her athletic prowess, but due to having her priorities in order, will accept an academic full ride scholarship, and walk on at the lucky school that she picks, just to play ball for fun! Way to go Kristen! Congratulations! It has been a pleasure to watch you and coach you since you were 9 years old. You are the epitome of a student-athlete. Congratulations also to the fantastic job by your parents in doing a great job! http://www.coacht.com/prospects/player.cfm?id=2191 [Edited by FPFanatic on 3-6-03 10:17P]
  8. softball019, you are right, it is not fair, but all in life is not fair either. To make it fairer, the ones complaining about not having equal time in the gym are the ones that have to step up and do something. The players, coaches, and parents at these schools have to force the issue with the administrators. If that does not work, then they have a right to file complaints with the Office of Civil Rights about Title IX violations. Until they stand up for themselves, it does little good to complain on the internet.
  9. this just in, games are scheduled for tomorrow. Hendersonville and Lipscomb @ 10:30 a.m. Hendersonville and Riverdale @ 12:00? Hendersonville and Friendship @ 3:00? Hendersonville and Overton @ 6:00?. all these would be good matchups if field conditions were playable, hope everyone is a "mudder", or there might be a lot of slippin' and slidin' goin' on. 10. illpete, looking forward to seeing you in politics someday! (lol) either that or sales!
  11. beggin', borrowin', and stealin' (just kidding about the last part)(lol)
  12. rain or snow everyday for the last two weeks, it would be a miracle if the infields are ready, and I don't think mj has a tarp! the rain is also forecast all the way thru next week, so look for the beech playday to probably be cancelled also.

    Best Fields

Hoover is in one of the most exclusive areas of the state, (much like Germantown or Belle Meade in Tennessee). It probably was not the state of Alabama that funded the stadium, their tax base is just as messed up as Tennessee's. There are a lot of nice stadiums in Alabama now, but they were either funded by booster clubs or are in city parks. Hoover has one of the top programs (maybe the top) in Alabama, another good one is Huntsville-Grissom.
  15. if we catch a break on the weather, then four games would be more than enough for most teams, considering this would be the first time on the field this year. I imagine that play will be pretty ragged due to the lack of work, especially in the outfield (unless there are natural born willie mays or andru jones types out there). since its just pre-season practice, it would be a good chance to get the bugs out. that said, hopefully the mj playday along with the beech playday the following week, will help prepare everyone for the first regular season tournament (hendersonville) on March 13-15, since most of the same teams will be playing in all three.
  16. the mj playday is supposed to be next friday, of course rain is on the forecast for next weekend as well; however, would someone post the teams and the pools for this tournament?
  17. Injun, it's funny you mentioned high school practice. Has anyone had any? (lol). In two weeks for practice, some teams may have gotten outside two days. The next two weeks looks like the same. Then the season starts. So it looks like we will go straight into the season with no or very little on field practice. No other high school sport starts a season with no practice (sorry, can't include indoor practices). I don't mean to belabor the point of changing the season, at the same time, any reason for or against changing the season can be argued quite well. (also, no offense about "Injun", being of Cherokee descent myself, that is a compliment)
  18. 15 points behind and most all the regulars on the old softball board have registered in their ballots. might be time to blow off the old concession speech (lol) there are no losers in this race though, all the no's and yes's still love the game and that's what it is all about. While the yes's may be a little more avid, rabid, fanatics solely about the game, we still love and need the no's and that makes the sport great for all. The no's are vital to the game, and there is nothing wrong about them having varied interests with fastpitch, that is what makes life fun and interesting (although the game would be a lot more pure if it was not played with 5" of snow on the field).
  19. there are some hanging shads on the florida ballots that will have to be hand counted
  20. nhcoach, you could also call Future Pros in Goodlettsville and the Zone in Hendersonville. [Edited by FPFanatic on 2-11-03 7:08P]
  21. setter, What school do you go to? I need it to update the info on page 1.
  22. first of all this makes too much sense to happen, the people in charge will not allow it to happen. also, softball has taken a second class status behind other sports for too long for it to happen. not to mention that there are too many other sport coaches and players involved in softball for it to happen (this goes back to softball being second class). also, due to financial reasons, such as high school tournaments that make a lot of money in the Spring, it won't happen (also, schools won't hire softball only coaches due to budget problems). another reason is that the traditionalists who accept freezing their posteriors in the cold, just because that's the way it always has been done, it won't happen. these are just some of the reasons it won't happen as long as softball is not a "stand alone" sport at most schools.
  23. dropball, that's really good, although some of us parents like to either stand behind the pitcher or the umpire instead of the backstop when calling pitches (lol)! I saw one stand on top of the bleachers one day.
