OK, need some help here. Does Camden play at the school or a city park. Could someone give us an address so we can get directions. As for who will win, that will be determined on Friday, not on message boards. I will congratulate Camden on a big win over a very tough Creek Wood team. Hume-Fogg plays their home games at Buena Vista Park, which is directly behind the Z. Alexander Looby Center at 2301 MetroCenter Blvd, 37228. From the north loop, exit at 8th Avenue/MetroCenter, go north approx 3/4 mile, turn left at red light between the Post Office and Looby Center, fields are on your right.

CoachRW- Thanks for voicing an idea instead of a critcism. I'm sure the powers that be at the MTSCA are watching this thread because I have seen some of their screen names. That is what they need and want, ideas to make the selection process better, not undeserved criticism for what they are trying to do.

Fairball- Our school has been a member for one year. The reason we are a member is that I strongly encouraged our head coach to join. I encouraged him to join because I am personally acquainted with John Conditt and several of the other charter members of the organization. I believe in what they are doing and what their dreams are for our girls playing high school softball. The main reason our coach did not want to join in the past is exactly what is going on here. The naming of All-Star teams is always a polarizing event. Some people are going to agree with the selections, more people are going to disagree. The people that disagree are always going to be more vocal than the people that are pleased. That is life! The point I was trying to make in my original post is this: Understand the parameters of the selections. First, a player has to play for a member school. If the player you are thinking of is not playing for a member school, do the same thing I did and encourage your coach to join. It is not expensive and their input and participation could help not only his players but other players down the road. Who do you think will be the loudest voice with the TSSAA on the proposed softball scheduling changes? One parent, one coach, or an organization composed of 50 - 100 coaches? Second, a nominated player is discussed by the coaches in attendance at the meeting. Maybe they are a well known player from a large school, maybe they are a great player from a small school. Is this process foolproof? Do I agree with every player on the list or think all deserving players made the list ? The answer is no. Is this process fair? As fair as any other list. If you disagree, encourage your coach to join and work from the inside to fix it. Don't stand on the outside and complain but do nothing to improve it. The MTSCA is much more than an All-Star team. I think your coach will be impressed if he (or she) finds out what the organization is attempting to do.

All-Star teams are always easy to criticize. Everyone has their own team that they follow and others that they see on a regular basis, so they are naturally biased to certain players. This team is a little different in how it is selected. The players are nominated by THEIR coaches, but the coach MUST be a member of the Middle Tennessee Softball Coaches Association. If your favorite player is not on the list, check and see if your coach has joined the association. If your player is deserving to be on the list, and the coach has not joined, who's fault is it. Yes, I'm sure there are deserving girls that have not made the list. This organization does a tremendous job with the assets they have available. The more coaches that are involved the more impact they can have on the game of High School softball. If you want your favorite player eligible next year, encourage your coach to be a member next year. By the way Cascade11, your coach is not a member!

One correction to the list. On the AA team, it is Brooke Heriges from Hume-Fogg, not Lauren. Congratulations to all the girls named, it is quite an accomplishment. Thanks to the MTSCA for all you are doing for high school softball.

I happen to know that the A-AA team listed is not the complete team, so if your daughter is not listed don't panic. They should have received a letter by now. There is a reason the teams are not being announced officially yet. Players have to commit in writing to play in the All-star game. They have until the 15th to notify the MTSCA if they can play.

It doesn't look like it will matter with the weather outside, but if Sycamore is playing in Gallatin does that mean they dropped out of the Cookeville Tournament?

With the tourney Camden had I am suprised you didn't have them in the finals. They looked strong all weekend. How did the Camden/Chester Co. game turn out?

Does anyone know what hospital he is in? I would like to go visit. His girls at Hume-Fogg will be thinking of him, and of the Doctors and Nurses that will try to keep him in bed on a game day!
