  1. CPA freshman Alex House got a start when All-State LB Will Hooper was recovering from a concussion the first 3 games. He has never left the lineup and probably has 70-80 tackes this year. CPA freshman tailback Austin Harrison has had some injuries and missed some games, but he is cut from the same mold as Chris Wooden of DCA but maybe will end up being a little faster. With Austin a soplhomore next year and Luke landers back for his senior year, CPA's running game wil be sound.
  2. What's really interesting about this year is that of all the teams that have a good chance of winning, CPA wasn't one that was predicted to be that good. They lost great seniors and last year's junior class was average on paper. The seniors have really stepped up and surprised folks this year and team speed has made up for size with the younger guys maturing faster than thought. Next year will be different. They will be expected to win and very likely could make it 4 of the last 5 years if they win this year.
  3. You guys get off work too early for me to enjoy the fun of this thread. So I'm catching up. 1. Bighurt, you've never looked better. 2. The autograph booth I recommended was for us to sign autographs, not Coach Fisher. 3. Where is the tailgating? Is Middle School next to high school? We're getting there at 5:30pm. 4. Greenman, tell the visitor side concession folks to be prepare for more hot cocoa this year. They ran short last year in the cold. 5. Key to the game - start all pays from the middle of the field and pick up speed as you run downhill to the sidelines. Aim sideline passes at the receivers feet so it hits them in the chest. Just kidding, Collinwood, even with the big crown in the field, great hosts and a great atmosphere for a game.
  4. I have heard Bighurt called many things, but sophisticated was never one of them I will be there at 530 tailgating with a lot of the other CPA crazy parents and siblings. Don't like the drive, but love going to Collinwood, where they love football as much as we do. Greenman, ask your fans and friends to let Fisher watch his son plan and do autographs before the game and at halftime. He deserves the chance to watch the game like everyone else. If you like Robjim, Online, Bighurt and I will set up an autograph booth.
  5. Sikes is close now and will be next year the #1 receiver in the state. As my son says, he is "money" when CPA needs a big play. Of course, the other receiver #5 ain't bad, but, of course, I 'm prejudiced.
  6. Remember guys, you are only as old as you are. LOL. The last 2 years with CPA clawing back from 3 opening losses last year and 2 losses and 3 forfeits this year would age anyone quickly.
  7. Bighurt, remember I'm the guy with 3 grandkids, 2 more on the way, and 2 sons still at CPA. I quit going to reunions at the 30 year mark. By the way, my wife wants me to state that I married a very young lady.
  8. Don't totally disagree, but because of 3 forfeits, you could very easily have CPA with 5 losses winning the state title. There are many teams with 5-5 or losing records in playoffs, but problem is not # of classes, it is that some regions are smaller or weaker than others and the 4th place teams are not as good as other larger regions 4th place teams. Just like NCAA basketball tourney, some teams in weaker conferences have better records than teams in strong conferences that make tourney with lesser records. Also, basing playoffs on record penalizes teams that play up in nonconference games and lose to great teams. To say a 5-5 team should not make playoffs is too easy - CPA is ranked in top 4 in almost all polls and is 5-5. It would be a shame if they didn't make it.
  9. Well said, PUJO, since my son is a senior, I will really hate to see it end. Any loss will be upsetting. As a matter of fact, if CPA wins it all, it will be upsetting since it is my son's last game.
  10. Didn't say they didn't. Haven't seen them play, but don't believe the 3rd place team in Region 6 can beat Ezell. Ezell's played well since CPA game and their performance against Lipscomb was impressive. I still say Ezell wins easy. I really would like to see Mt. Pleasant win. I would rather play them down the road than Ezell.
  11. An interesting game next year will be CPA at Riverdale the first week. Both teams return great players and even though Riverdale won big this year, the CPA team they played is not the same team CPA has now. Riverdale will probably win due to size and numbers, but score could be close and will feature 2 great teams.
  12. I believe DCA can beat CPA if we don't play well. I think Ezell can upset either DCA or CPA if they play well. I think SP can upset Boyd and either Boyd or SP can beat Cloudland (if that is considered an upset). A region 6 team might beat Ezell if Ezell is on a sloppy field. Bad weather favors defense so DCA, SP, Boyd and SP will prevail in those conditions.
  13. As I posted 3 weeks ago and I repeat: Cloudland, SP, or Boyd in the East versus DCA or CPA in the East. Those 5 teams are the class of 1A. I'd say the winner rom that bunch will be the one who can play with the least amount of mistakes.
  14. Ezell by a bunch. They could be the sleeper of the playoffs. Can score quick and some good athletes. The way to beat them is to have great coaching on defense and run the ball and the clock. Mt. Pleasant shouldn't match up.

    CPA

I've tried every way I know to drive to Collinwood, so what is the best way from Brentwood? Watch out - wandering deer and rabbits - the CPA faithful are driving down the Trace to visit our friends in Collinwood. Gret town, great atmosphere. I predict a CPA win though over a tough Collinwood team and great program.
  16. I hate to tell the other teams in 1A this, but CPA and DCA will both be better next year than they are this year, barring injuries. If CPA can somehow run the table this year, they have a great chance next year to make it 4 state titles in 5 years. CPA loses some seniors this year that are talented, but they have back; QB (Pollock), All-state WR (Sikes), all-state RB (Landers), all-state DB (Fisher), several great role players, kicker, punter, and an upcoming Sophomore class that was undefeated in Middle School and only gave up 7 points, led by this year's 2nd leading tackler, Alex House and the next Chris Wooden-type back, Austin Harrison. It should be CPA, DCA - #1,2 next year.
  17. CPA 58-FRA 6. 55-0 at half. Offensive starters benched at half. First 15 offensive plays fro CPA - 10 TD's, 2 called back for penalties. RB Luke Landers: 220 yards on 6 carries in first half. QB Josh Pollock: 6 for 6 in first half with 5 TD passes, 3 to Travis Sikes. Total domination on a FRA team that had 4 wins. CPA at Collinwood next week. They are playing like the champions they are. Should be a great game against a good Collinwood team. I look forwrd to driving the Trace again. Collinwood is a great HS football town and atmosphere.
  18. I have pointed out as most have that Cloudland plays a weak schedule, but some of that they can't control - they have to play their region, and they did schedule some Va. teams who have been good in the past. I hate to see the boys put down because of a schedule they had nothing to do with. I do think it is a shame that they will possibly be hurt by not having played in a tough game when they have to figure out how to win in the 4th quarter. Cloudland fans - have a fund raising rally or whatever you need to do to finance a home and away with one or two of the perennial 1A leaders, like CPA, DCA, Sp, Collinwood, Moore Co. or Boyd. You've had a great season - be proud.
  19. I agree even though I am a CPA fan. Any team that can score as quick as Ezell can with a great player like Geddis (sorry if that's spelled wrong) is always in a game. Their problem is stopping the run. But they are capable of beating anyone.
  20. CPA could be the first team (I would guess) in the history of the playoffs to win it all with a 5-5 regular season record (should win 8 on the field and had 3 forfeits). They have a rough playoff bracket due to the forfeits but won 4 road games last year on their run to champs.
  21. Luke Landers, CPA - a Junior with about 1,100 yards in 7 games (missed the first 2 due to mono) on a team that is very balanced run/pass. Gained 230 last week against the #1 defense in 1A - DCA.
  22. Watch out, 1A! You think CPA is good this year - they have the best group of Juniors since the 1999 team which had 6 juniors who eventually signed D1 scholorships and won the state as seniors in 2000. Potential Top 10 at their position: Travis Sikes - WR/FS Josh Pollock - QB Luke Landers - RB/CB Brandon Fisher - WR/SS Marshall Hamilton - OL/LB Other really good players who could emerge. Chris White - OT/DT/Punter John Price - Kicker Will Butler - TE/DE Kyle Hawley - WR/DB and some others including a transfer who is sitting out this year. We're not done this year, but next year - watch out!!
  23. Well, on my way out of town for a few days, but must say again: Coach Pack and staff are awesome. 2 weeks ago they showed a bunch of teenagers that winning means nothing without honesty, and since then they motivated those boys to overcome what seemed to be very bad odds. They are not only the best staff in TN, but true molders of character in young men. By the way, Bighurt, your son had a great game, probably his best-even after being injured. They've grown up fast, haven't they?
  24. Online, I agree that Fenwick is very impressive. Once DCA ran some plays where he could run or pass, they were a little more effective, but CPA defense was very stingy. Kudos to Coach Pack and his staff. Proved again they are hard to outcoach in big games. DCA line dwarfed the CPA line but CPA defensive scheme and team speed were the difference.
  25. Great to meet Landerblue and his friends. I hope their trip to Nashville doesn't cost them too much after the ladies finish shopping. By the way - has anyone seen or heard from 4Life???
