  1. I'm an assistant on Powell's team and we were very impressed with the way Greeneville played. We managed to get some film of them from pretty late in the year and they did not impress that much. I think that they were playing down to their competition. In any event, we sure were impressed last night. Duncan's 1-1-2-1 half court trap could give the team from Memphis problems. Greeneville started man-to-man and we were up 7-4. Then, they changed to the trap and we just did not execute. Next thing you know it was 26-7. I hate it for our kids. They overcame quite a bit this year, from injuries to immaturity, but they are quality kids and we did have a very nice team. Greeneville was very good last night and I wish them nothing but the best down the road. All their players acted classy after the game and had nice things to say about our team. Wiggins and Moore are great, but Anderson runs the show. Good luck Devils!!!
  2. Very, very sad to hear about this. Must have been a great guy to have this many folks pay their respects.
  3. Yes. He played last night and had a nice game. He hit several clutch shots last time to pull out that game.
  4. We play Halls in the Championship game at 8:30 at Halls. Hope to see you there.
  5. LOL It would not go through at first. We will miss Jared and wish him nothing but the best.
  6. slick24, No more comments on this matter on this message board. You have been warned.
  7. People should not be trashing ANY players on this board, whether they be McGaha or those with "crappy passing ability or no ability" throwing passing him the ball. These are local high school kids who are justing their tails. This is a free country, but how about following the Golden Rule on this board. These kids are special to me and I don't like or appreciate the cheap shots being taken here on this message board by people hiding behind a screen name.
  8. The only reason that I am going to post this is to stop unnecessary speculation. We played a game on Monday, therefore we had a practice on Sunday. Smith could not make it to practice for an acceptable reason. However, the rule is that if you miss practice the day before a game, you don't start. It is that simple. The same rule has kept Chris Conner out of the starting lineup twice this year. Both kids are great kids and have been very coachable this year.
  9. I don't really think that I will comment on anymore players, especially my players, although I do think that Lee Smith is a D1 football player. There are quite a few very talented players in our district and I will just leave it at that.
  10. Prepwatcher: You know, it's kind of funny if you think about it. I did sit on the bench at Powell quite a bit. Now, twelve years later, I'm right back on the bench at Powell. Of course, growing four inches and gaining thirty pounds after my Senior year helped me realize my dream of playing D1 ball, even if it was as a walk on. A thirty-four inch vertical leap helped as well. The fact is, in the course of my life I have played basketball with some of the best players in the world, including Kevin Garnett and Alan Houston, among others who have gone on to play professionally. I received a substantial amount scholarship money at UTC for academics, so being on "scholarship" was never an issue for me. I lettered three years out of four and I became as good a player as I could be. I don't feel as though I have anything to prove to anyone as far as whether I could play or not. Ask my teammates. The fact that you would try to call me out here on a message board means that you are probably chicken crap and I will probably never get to meet you face to face. You are probably someone who never quite reached their potential and takes joy in trying to bring others down. I think that is pathetic, but I understand it. I also understand what a D1 player looks like whether you like it or not. Now, in referring to Sharp, I've stated my opinion. Time will bear witness to whether I am correct or not. When he signs that letter of intent, I won't even get on here and say I told you so.
  11. LOL, we heard you the fourth time. By the way, dewayne, having played college ball myself, I can tell you that Cameron will, in fact, probably play D1 ball. Remember that he is still just a junior and has a bit of growing left to do. If Cam continues to increase his physical strength and outside game, there is no reason why he cannot play at least at the Mid-Major level. He's already better in my opinion than the point guard from Bearden a couple of years ago that is playing D1 ball at Alabama A & M.
  12. West 56 Powell 66 Good, hard fought game. I was really impressed with West. They play really hard and Pearl makes his teammates better.
  13. This should be a whale of a game. I'd love to watch it but I will be occupied. I see this game as a close game. I love the way Halls' players play together. They really are a "team". On the other hand, Oak Ridge has the swagger that all great teams have. Grant Domsic is probably the most mentally tough player I've seen in the district in several years. He just makes play after play down the stretch. Plus, Oak Ridge has great athletes and a great perimeter shooter in Younkin. They are tough to beat. I would imagine that Coffey could give Cameron some problems from a physical standpoint. But, if Halls gets up early, they will be tough to come back on because those kids know how to play with a lead.
  14. Any thoughts on this game?
  15. LOL, that sounds like Jeff HUnter talking. Can't say that I disagree.
  16. I like John. I think he works hard for the program at UTC. He is also a fine bench coach. He won a Socon Championship in his first season as coach. Enough said.
  17. 79-72 Younkin and Domsic were really good, but they had good efforts from all those who played.
  18. I would expect that the score would be a little closer than that, but Clinton is so hard to beat in the Den.
  19. Powell's freshman team is off to a really good start and they have several good players, including Andrew Hansen. Hansen has the potential to be one of the best point guards to come through Knoxville in quite a while. He sees the floor better than most Senior point guards. Keep an eye out for him.
  20. I seem to remember Halls beating us two out of three last year. The players and coaches at PHS have nothing but respect for Halls and their highly talented junior class. I went and watched Halls just dominate Anderson County last week and I did not see too many weaknesses with the Red Devils. The fact that Karns played them close is more a testament to Karns than a knock on Halls. Karns is much more patient on offense this year than anytime in recent memory and they are well coached. The fact that Halls won over there with Cameron only scoring seven points just means that Halls has a really solid team.
  21. Lee is a good coach and it will be a real tough game. Count on it.
  22. Maybe Halls is too good for us, but I'd say that we'll probably show up and play the games anyway. Who knows, maybe we'll surprise some people.
  23. Halls played really well. That's pretty much the whole story.
