  1. In southern middle TN...it happens more frequently than most might think. I witnessed another game where a player was fouled at the 3 pt. line...he continued his drive down the lane and made his shot...keep in mind, the whistle was blown at the 3pt. line. The refs counted the basket and gave him the foul shot. If you want me to keep going, I will, but this should seel the deal on how bad officials are, especially in Middle TN.
  2. Ifiruledtheworld...I will answer your question...What is wrong with the officiating? 1) In a game earlier this year, Giles County vs. Columbia...Columbia was allowed to start the 2nd half with 6 players...they scored a 3 pt. basket and none of the refs even realized that there were too many players...Everyone else in the gym noticed.... 2) I would go on, but whats the point...I think the first point sums it up...
  3. Who knows how this will affect the reputation of the coach, referee, or TSSAA. I am guessing the coach is telling the truth about the officiating, because it is horrible this year, but he could have expressed his opinions in a little less public manner. I don't know how long the TSSAA can allow this type of calling to continue...they need to evaluate their criteria for selecting officials. We all know that in big, close games, officiating or lack thereof can affect the outcome of the game. I hope this opens some eyes, but at the same time, the coach should be stepping back and evaluating his coaching to make sure it is flawless and his teams game is airtight before he bashes them too much.
  4. Bradley could possibly take the 3A Hardware home with them. Giles County could retain the 2A ball, if they get their act together for the Sub-state...other than those two, I have no clue.
  5. I hope that Giles County score is wrong...
  6. Well said Glyndon...Bolivar would be my pick to win it all. Like you said, Giles will have no problem with the Region. We all know what can happen on any given night, as we witnessed last year in the gym in Giles County and in the 'BORO'. Luck plays a big factor when you get into the games where talent is evenly matched. I would like to see GC make it to the BORO, but the substate is going to be their true test. Good luck to all teams and much luck to the team that has to travel to Giles County to play in the sub-state...it isn't a fun place for the opposing team...ask last years Bolivar team!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Why did you start another thread about this game...the last one is on page 2. Anyway, everyone knows my opinion...MAS...call my cell # and leave me the final score. I will be in Hunstville all night and won't get a chance to listen. Good luck Lewis...you guys will need it. Anonymousballer, in the last thread you posted...and I quote, "I hope Giles County gets beat". Now you come back saying Giles by 15...get on one side of the fence and stay.
  8. Bolivar...next 2A Champs...that is almost a done deal. This Bolivar team beat a Raleigh Egypt team, which was the pre-season #1 pick by Gomab, by 16 pts. I don't see Bolivar bowing out this year in the sub-state by a last second shot. I, like Tcross, am a huge Giles County fan, but I don't believe they have what it takes to play with the likes of Bolivar...not at this point in the season, anyway.
  9. MrHonesty...honestly, I believe that you know nothing about basketball. The CATZ are a mediocre 10-5...LOL...LOL. Two of those losses came to Bradley...#1 team in the state, as of now. They had two losses to very good teams in the Huntsville Tournament. Who has Lewis County played...teams like Fairview...LOL. Take out those two tournaments and Giles County has one loss. You crack me up. As I have said in an earlier post, GC by 25-30...and Shay probably won't even play. Also, Tyler did have his way with Bradley...31 pts. He scored when he wanted to...Bradley knew that, that is why they focused on shutting the rest of the team down...that is what good teams do. What would Lewis County have done...gotten beat by 70+...LOL LOL...LOL...LOL...I think Lewis County has played 3 teams with a winning record...they should be atop the polls in strength of schedule...LOL
  10. Tcross, who was on that team. On the 94-95 team, I remember Pipkins, Howard, Marks, Coleman, Morris, Bryant (i think).
  11. If I am not mistaken, ticket prices have went up in the last couple of years from $4 to $5...maybe because of Tyler??? With that point being made, why could they not cut students some slack...maybe sell them tickets for $4. After all, last year proved that a strong student section and strong fan support can encourage the guys and girls on the floor to play with a higher level of intensity...someone needs to open their eyes to something other than the color of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats all for now.
  12. Very good post Smokey...I don't know about the first start, but we should all be proud of these young men and wish them luck where ever their futures take them.
  13. MNEWBALLER21 is correct, I graduated some time ago, but I love to watch these guys play ball. Probably the most talented Giles County boys team since 94-95. MNEWBALLER21, how did you know who I was???
  14. Both of you guys make very valid points, that no one can argue with. All three of these young men have an amazing talent in basketball. They all use their talents in different ways. Jamont is the true leader of his team...he is carrying them right now, though his attitude lacks at times. Delk, well, is supported by one of the most talented teams in the state and will be competing for the 3A title. Smith lacks the supporting cast that Delk has, but Shannon picks up a lot of slack for the Bobcats, so Smith doesn't have to score as much to be a major factor in a game. He has great hands to be 6'6"...match that with his great vision...and ability to break down anyone on the floor with his dribbling...now you have what college coaches are so excited about. We have all seen in the past that when the time comes for Tyler to score, he is going to score as many as he wants. That is how he plays the game...he won't change. He is a very unselfish player and he knows how to use what is around him. I haven't got to see Delk or Gordon play, but to hear Gomab talk, they are equally as impressive and will make some college coach very very happy...
  15. Pretty good post PulaskiVols. Nothing but the truth in that post. Coffey and Smith should get more playing time together, they are the future of this team (if Smith stays put). As much as ya'll like Coffey, I believe Garrett could possibly suprise everyone more next year...granted he keeps his grades up and Holt lets him play. Giles should have a cakewalk through the region tournament, then comes the sub-state. It is certain that they will have to face a very good team out of Memphis...possibly Southside, Bolivar, or BTW. That is where we find out what they are really made of. The Brentwood game will be another test before that time, however.
  16. TNWAREAGLE...I couldn't agree more. Let me say that I doubted that Bradley could pull off the upset...they did and now they have something to be proud of. Both teams are tremendously talented and I am just thankful they aren't in 2A. I can't imagine being on a bigger high than beating the #1 team in the state on New Year's Eve. Great Job...Bradley
  17. Good point Gomab...The Arby's Classic is for the best of the best. It gives everyone invited a chance to play excellent teams that they normally wouldn't play. With that being said, every game played at the Arby's should make a team all the better. Good luck to all of the teams that made the trip to Bristol...and too some of the teams...good luck on your return trip to the BORO in March.
  18. Goldenboy...I don't think anyone in this region can hold Tyler to minimum points...if he wants to score. As for White Boy...which one, Zach or Shay, because when they are on, those two can flat stroke. I don't see this game being a bit closer than the first meeting in which Giles won by 25...
  19. I tend to disagree with Tyler not being able to create his own shot...that is how he gets all of his shots. Coach Holt does not run screens for any of the kids. Tyler as well as Shay have to create their own shots...that is the truth...I can promise you that. The kid has excellent hands and ball handling abilities...I don't know who you have been watching, but it isn't Tyler. Anyone that watches him play will tell you that creating his own shot off of the dribble is his best quality...just ask them????????
  20. Ok, that last post made very little sense. Giles County has went 4-3 since the Lewis County game...two of those losses coming against Bradley Central (could be the #1 team in the state). Lets just hope, that the Bobcats aren't too fired up about losing to Bradley again, or it could get very very very ugly for you guys. Who has Lewis County played in their 5 game winning streak...any Bradley Central's in their schedule...probably not. Just because GC has lost 3 games since our last meeting with you guys, doesn't mean they have gotten worse...they are a totally different team than when you saw them a month ago.
  21. Ok...I am a huge Giles County fan and I agree with Gomab. Tyler has the talent to make him the best player in TN...possibly the best Junior in the Nation, but the drive isn't there. Could it be that he doesn't like playing the weak district games??? If that is the case, then he should have been off to Oak Hill...where the competition is tough every night, as is playing time. THAT IS NO EXCUSE NOT TO PLAY HARD. What do you think Roy Williams is seeing when he shows up for a Giles County game (he has been there). He sees the same thing we are all posting about...a kid with tremendous talent, but little drive to use it. Evidently, someone is seeing something special in this kid when he goes to the Nike and Adidas camps (where the competition is strong). I understand that Tyler is 16 or 17 and is probably under more pressure than any of us will ever be burdened with, but someone has to step in and encourage him to always give his ALL. Tylers dad was one of the premier players in the 70's (I think)...made the All-State team...that would be a great person to hear it from!!!
  22. Giles County by 25-30...Lewis isn't playing that well!!!! Giles will have their way with Lewis County...
  23. Dawg...I am right here...not going anywhere. Until you have the hardware from the BORO...don't spout off too much. I know Bradley is a great team...I have no problem admitting that. As anyone in any sport will tell you, anyone can be beat on any night. The chances of White Station getting it twice in one year...well, do the math.
