  1. BCB- I told myself I would never agree with you on anything! I mean you're a trickster! You probably had your little scheme at the Dalton match all planned out for if you laid your eyes on me that day! But I can agree with you on one thing. I do have a strange way of showing my appreciation- so I offer this; next time I see you at a tournament or out and about, I'll give you a head nod, a smile, and we'll just know that it's "our" little secret. As for the spelling and grammar part? English is my thing... what can I say!? Oh and CupCake- I just went on the McCallie website myself and it looks as if my "top of the head" knowledge on my dear McCallie Invitational was correct. All the scheduling I gave was correct. Man I should really commend myself for knowing the old tournament so well. Just a wellspring of knowledge men! Also for those interested, you will be able to watch the finals of the tournament live online. Go to http://tv.mccallie.org to watch the finals broadcast by former McCallie wrestling alumni themselves! BCB maybe you could check this out... see if your tournament is really "tougher" than ours!
  2. Wrestling starts at 4:30 Friday afternoon. And I would say goes all the way through the quarters. Action picks back up Saturday morning around 9:00. Consolations will be first that morning, followed by semis and so on. Finals probably around 3:00, 4:00ish... Don't quote me on that. Just citing from past experience.
  3. Very intelligent in fact. Because of this... I will correct your spelling. I'm SURE you meant to spell "right" as write and I'm also sure you meant that "to much" as too much. Just a friendly reminder. But you don't need that- you'll be at the Bradley tournament!!! Use all the "right" and "to much" as you like! Hey it's CoachT... who's judging? Oh yeah... an intelligent person! By the way, I really do appreciate it. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about... Good luck to EFT at "THE BRADLEY"
  4. BCB! You're showing your naivety! I would have to say we're both a little biased as to which is REALLY the best tournament. Your team goes to Bradley, therefore you're in love with the tourney being held by the bears. On the other hand, the McCallie Invite takes place at my place and put on by my team. So maybe I am biased... BUT (and that's a big but) a think there are a good number of people that could back up my clear bias. One for example, is named after everyone's favorite pastry. Wonder who that could be... So you take your Bradley tourney and I'll take my McCallie Invitational. We'll just have to agree to disagree. Nothing new right? Or maybe you're just jealous that EFT isn't coming... hmmmm Now me "looking good against Dalton" - you play a tricky game Bear Cat! A lot of mind games! CupCake- There are a good number of guys to look out for. I'm not as well versed in the Georgia boys as I should be. But with a list of very intense teams- I'm going to have to say there will be plenty to "keep an eye on." Lafeyete (excuse my misspelling) I know has a great team with some great wrestlers. And obviously the Baylor and McCallie guys will be ones to watch. A handful of Father Ryan guys. Not so sure about MBA this year. Of course you have a Simpson on the team... they'll always be ones to watch! Hard to narrow it down with such a very competitive field. Oh wait... because of this, BCB, that MUST mean this tournament is the "most wonderful time of the year," right? I mean the match-ups will be incredible! What do you have to say for yourself?
  5. Don't worry CupCake- I'm still here. Sometimes I like to lie low; scope out everything. Enough scoping though. This tournament is four days away. With regards to the upcoming holiday season, is it so horrible to say that the McCallie Invitational is "the most wonderful time of the year?" I have to say, I think it just might be!!!!! Oh and just because it's the holidays, doesn't give you an excuse to eat plenty of your namesake. You got to set a good example for little CupCake now...
  6. Time to clear some things up. First- No scolding going on here Texas! I just wanted to talk about the tournament! I commend the marathon talk. I used to be a runner myself! Second- Duncan is not my son, but I wish I could claim him! The kid's a beast! He'll be untouchable this season. Which brings us back to the McCallie Invitational! Duncan should win it. Along with Hooker, Watson, and Marchetti will be in the mix there too. Who else? Fill in the gaps.
  7. Let's get this thread back to its title meaning. McCallie Invitational- Most consider it one of the toughest most prestigious tournaments in the southeast. Most also consider it much tougher than the TSSAA state tournament - DI or DII. This makes it a very exciting tournament to watch! So let's get back to the speculation we're so good at here on CoachT. Who's going to win it? Individual wise, team wise, OW wise... Let's hear it!
  8. Cupcake- You predict Mullins and Boone to be in the finals... I guess you didn't read the bottom of your own post! Notre Dame doesn't come to the McCallie Invitational. They usually go to the Bradley tournament.
  9. Not a big deal, no "blanks" to fill in - all will be in the line-up by tomorrow's UTC Duals- look forward to it.
  10. January 23rd should actually be a good match. Much better showing than last year. Get excited about it boys!!!
  11. Cleveland McCallie won't be too pretty tomorrow night. If they get a chance to meet again during the UTC Duals then it might be a different story. But some of the McCallie boys are struggling with weight for tomorrow. Won't be the full starting line-up.
  12. Cody Cleveland- UTC (McCallie) All-American last year at 141 I believe
  13. Interesting. I'm curious as to who you think I am... because you're no where close. In regards to your line-up, looks pretty good I guess. But as we all know, this match causes a lot of switch-ups. Should be fun to see how it turns out this year!
  14. You'll be pleasantly, or I guess in your case, unpleasantly surprised with this years match, or better yet, match-ups. It's a new year boys!
  15. Haha no it's just funny, because we feel the same way except towards Baylor! I guess it all depends on the eye that's reading it...
  16. Do you think they lean more towards the blue side of things?
  17. Exactly at least the last half of your statement. To the first half, the match does mean something. Something is up for grabs, and when something is up for grabs then it always means something. I'm not doing the whole Hooker will win anyways sarcasm junk. Even if he's seeded second, he'll come through the bracket to the finals and meet Baucke there and hopefully win. But that's not the issue that we're arguing here. The issue is not whether Hooker is the best and will prove himself either way. The issue is whether Baucke will wrestle or just hold on to his number seed. There is no sarcasm or disdain in that statement, it's just that that is the issue we've been discussing. So yeah it does mean something. And even if it doesn't, to those of you who seem to think it, then why wouldn't they wrestle!? I don't want the "to protect against injury" junk because if that's the case, then why wrestle at all!!!!! And WhiskeyJoe- if your whole post is true, then turn it around to Baucke too. So you substitute his name for Hooker's. Then why not wrestle?
  18. To answer your question- and I honestly and truly mean this, I'm not just saying it because it fits what I've been saying all along- I know Gordon Connell very well and I know how he feels about Hooker and his wrestling abilities. He is very confident that Hooker is the best wrestler in the state at 112- DI and DII. Therefore, if Hooker had the number one seed, as Baucke does right now, going into the duals then yes, I KNOW Connell would wrestle Hooker. He's confident he would win it! And 2blLeg, when you said "what purpose would it serve to wrestle a match at this level that means nothing." A match that means nothing? At this point, that match means EVERYTHING going into the individuals. A few years ago your statement would be true because head to head match ups at the state duals didn't factor into the seeding for state individuals but now they do, and a Baucke-Hooker match, number 1 and 2 seeds respectively, would decide who the final number 1 seed would be going into the state individuals. How can that mean nothing...?
  19. So you're saying that if 112 hasn't wrestled yet and the victory is cinched then it's okay to not wrestle those two wrestlers for that very important match? I'm not so sure I agree with that. At all. I'm not buying the "prevent injury" line either.
  20. Haha you are kind of sorry? No it's fine. This whole message board stuff is all in good fun. It's funny you assumed I was someone else. My mysteriousness lives on! At least I think so... ha
  21. I do say so Buck! Remember, you awarded me with an impressive "call 'em as you see 'em" award after the Baylor/McCallie match... just putting in my insight this time around too! I look forward to saying that that didn't end up being the case!
  22. He is an 8th grader at McCallie this year. He's from Maryville but has moved here during the school year. Great kid, great wrestler. He travels to tournaments all over the country out of season. Big accomplishments in season this year: He won the McCallie Invitational, He placed 5th in the Oviedo tournament down in Florida, He won the Father Ryan Tournament, He won the Brentwood Tournament, and punished Manley from Baylor 9-0 in the Baylor/McCallie dual this past Friday. He's wrestled some good kids from Georgia as well and beaten them. He should definitely be looking to follow along the same path as his teammate TJ Duncan in becoming a state champion in 8th grade and going on to be a 5-timer. He's a real hard working, dedicated wrestler. He has yet to wrestle Baucke and hopefully we'll see that Friday night when McCallie wrestles Christian Brothers in the duals. Look to hear a lot more from him...
  23. Exactly. You actually helped me make my point! Thank you. I said it's cowardice IF it happens. "If"- a small word but in a situation like this, it makes a big difference. So when you quote me again saying I never called anyone a coward, I was right, I didn't. Sorry if it came off that way, but I hope my explanation helps because THAT is how it was intended. And Anklepick- you as well are reading my post the wrong way. Everything spoken was hypothetical. I wasn't saying anything was happening. I said there's no need to not wrestle if that were the case. It's called looking at all the options- not calling the shots. I'm no fortune teller. I can't read the future and tell you what will happen Friday night. Not until it plays out itself. Lighten up guys! There were no personal attacks in either of those posts whatsoever! Just starting up conversation about the highly anticipated match (for me at least!). Get excited about one good match! (hopefully)
