I didn't get to go to it! Watertown has a pretty good team who has played a tough schedule, and so far they've lost 4 games to AA schools, one game to a AAA school, and lost 3 games against 2 good A schools in Goodpasture and Eagleville. This weekend it looks like they play another AA school and play two Kentucky teams. I've got a feeling the winner of 7a will be see Watertown in the first round of the region.
  2. That's how it goes and sometimes you can't help it, but it was whatever was best for them and I hope they do well. I just hope RBS has a repeat of last year or do even better.

Did Clay and JC play tonight?

  5. Not sure and at RBS it always drops quite a bit when the season gets ready to start. Most knew who Tirjin was at RB for us, but keep an eye on Logan Hewitt. He started at QB as a freshman last year. He got hurt midway through the 4 quarter last year against Gordonsville and missed the Watertown and Cannon County games and you could tell it. He was a little under sized last year, but that'll fix itself as he ages and hits the weights.

The umpire behind the plate may have asked for assistance with the call, but no call should have been made to begin with until it was discussed. Sometimes you want the umpire behind the plate to ask for assistance. When I was assistant coach at RBS I remember we had an instance where the ball was obviously foul and the umpire called it fair. When the umpire was asked about it by the head coach the ump said he couldn't see so he called it fair and he refused to ask the field umpire for any help. Was the umpire a young guy or someone who hasn't been doing it long? The one thing I always noticed when I was coaching was in situations like that the umpire hadn't been umpiring too long. Wingman thanks for the compliment, I'll get wrong occasionally though. Also, where exactly are you from?

Well only 3 teams have won this district since 2000, that was the year Upperman was no longer in A and moved to AA, but the way it's going it looks like Clay or Clarkrange may be the 4th to win it. I just hope it's a good tourney and wish RBS was still in 7a.
  8. RBS had 8 all district players last year and 7 of those return this year. We return all the skill players from last year, the 4 linemen we lost to graduation are all that we lost. RBS will have a sophomore at QB, 3 junior RB's, and a SR receiver that will do the majority of the ball handling. Had some important pieces missing in the game against Watertown. Had we been healthy in that game I think we could have played them much closer. I don't believe our schedule is too bad, after having the season we had last year it needed to be tougher and the district changes did that for us. Monterey, Clay, Gordonsville, MTCS, Jo Byrns, and Cannon are all possible wins while Pickett and Clinton should be easy wins. The only games out of the question are Trousdale and NCS. I say we beat Cannon, Clinton, and PC then pull out 1-3 more tough wins against the others that aren't NCS and TC and finish 4-6, 5-5, or 6-4. Playoffs aren't out of the question, but it's going to have to be a season were we keep everyone healthy and play well every Friday night.

I'm still sticking with Clay in this district, but whoever comes out with the number 1 seed in the regular season has the clear advantage going into the tournament. The 1 seed will most likely meet Monterey in the first round in a very winnable game while the 2 and 3 seeds will be a match up between Clarkrange, JC, or Clay in the first round.
  10. Clay has the potential to be a very explosive offense, but they're going to have to get some guys to step up besides the QB and big WR.
  11. He may be, it's been 6 or 7 months since I saw him play and I could be wrong. I just know he could sling it and had a lot of potential.
  12. The QB is right handed from what I can remember. He was very raw last year, but he was just a sophomore and he has potential to be very good. It is a tough region this year but could be a competitive one. Monterey, Clay, Gordonsville, and RBS(it feels good to be able to group us here) could be some very good football games. I don't know much about Jo Byrns outside of them being atleast a pretty decent team every year.

Yes he is the one, and is probably the one the other person was talking about having some velocity. He's just a sophomore so he's got a lot of room to grow. On a side note he was very raw at QB last year, and with some mechanical work could be a very good QB.

It seems that Jackson County is playing well outside of the loss to Uppermam, but right now I don't believe an A team in the upper cumberland is going to be able to play with Upperman.

Since a few games have been played my pick goes to Clay to win this district!

Besides Goodpasture I think the best team in the region could once again be in district 7a. Could be a pretty competitive district down the stretch. In regards to Monterey...how the mighty have fallen! Coach Looper is too good of a coach for Monterey to be cellar dwellers in the district, the talent must not be there anymore because for years this team seemed unbeatable in this district.
  17. I enjoyed watching all 3 games today, especially Blackman/Oakland. I've kept pretty quiet this year because I haven't got to see a whole lot of basketball this year. I shouldn't be as busy next season and will be able to see more.
  18. You could probably take the top 5 on any given night and get a great game.
  19. People used to not get so riled up and offensive so easily on coacht. It used to be much more work. Have a good year and congrats to Middleton and your district!
  20. You're right this is a thread about the best district so aren't you suppose to argue or discuss the best district? I'm not saying that Middleton would have not won state this year had they been in 7a because that would be a ridiculous statement especially after beating Clarkrange, I just said they would not have came away with an unblemished record. District aside if they played in the Upper Cumberland against its best teams it would be very hard to come out undefeated. The last 2 years west TN has sent 2 undefeated teams to the state tournament and won tough games. Those tough games, it seems, are weekly in the Upper Cumberland. Normally you see 2 teams out of 7a and 8aa in the state tournament with all of those teams playing each other every year, girls basketball is extremley fun to watch in this area. That is why the last 2 7a teams who did win it lost a combined 12 games.
  21. You could say that but I would almost guarantee that if Middleton played Clarkrange, Jackson County, and Pickett County 2 times a piece that there is no way they go into the state tournament with an unblemished record. Those are probably 3 of the hardest places in Tennessee to play at.
  22. For a team to come out of this area undefeated they will have to be head and shoulders above everyone else. You take a team like Clarkrange where it is near impossible to win in that gym, then you throw in JC and LA who are good year in and year out. The upper cumberland is very comepetitive in girls basketball and it is hard for a team to win 30 games let alone be undefeated.
  23. Watch out for Pickett County next year, they return every starter I believe.
  24. I don't think Clarkrange has played well today with the exception of Meadows. Middleton is extremely athletic and are well coached.
