  1. EHS certainly deserved to win this game, but I'm not sure they'll get 4 turnovers if these two teams meet again. The same could be said about MBA's game against EHS and several EHS fumbles. Bottom line is that having to play teams like BA, EHS, MBA, twice in the same season is what make DII Middle/East such a brutal division. I've heard Coach Bowers say it before....enjoy this one for a day and get ready to play another tough one on Friday.
  2. "correct. I" and "an MBA fan/graduate."
  3. I'm hoping McCallie's sake that Tyner has a very strong team this year. EHS will be significantly better opponent than Tyner.
  4. Exactly, how are open zone or magnet schools any different from private schools? The tuition is substantially lower, they can admit whomever they chose, and the academic requirements are substantially lower. You won't see a Rae Sykes type coming out of DII anytime soon.
  5. If money is an issue, I'm sure $2000 to $4000 should cover the trip. What's the next excuse? Link
  6. Ford walked on this year at Vandy after not playing as a freshman. He actually had a pretty good camp for someone who hasn't played in year. Byrge has been a walk-on wr at Vandy for 2.5 or 3 years, not really sure exactly. You are correct, that he did not play football in HS, he played golf. I don't see how that really matters here, he's on the team at VU.
  7. Like I said, Cobb's a great athlete, but he's your quintessential Jack of All Trades and King of Nothing. He boasts an impressive 51% career comletion percentage, a 5 yard per carry average, and a 10 yards per catch average. Funny, he's not even mentioned in this article about the starting qb: http://www.ukathletics.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/082310aaa.html It's also wierd how he's on the depth chart at wr: http://ukbeat.courier-journal.com/2010/08/kentucky-football-depth-chart.html But, hey, I'm the one with blinders on, so what do I know.
  8. Well, both Rivals and Scout ranked Brunetti better than Cobb, and he plays for a much better team/program, so clearly, they are in the same league. Isn't Cobb listed as a wr anyway? Great athlete, but very mediocre passer.
  9. 39-2 is obviously not a what MUS fans had hoped for but kudos to them for taking on the #1 team in the rivals .com national rankings. I believe the expression goes, "nothing ventured, nothing gained". At least the players at MUS can say that they stepped up to the challenge and gave it their best shot.
  10. I believe William Tanner from MBA has walked on at Kentucky, but not positive.
  11. Valid points but do keep in mind that McCallie has traditionally been a very marginal DII competitor when it comes to football.
  12. How is this any different from a private school other than the fact that tuition is cheaper and the academics are not demanding? It appears to me that this would be more of an advantage when compared to the academic rigor of the DII privates. Students are simply passed along at these schools. They don't have the luxury of the Rae Sykes of the world who can't even qualify for UT. Also, even with financial aid, most famalies at the DII schools pay significantly more than the $1500 or whatever it is to attend an open zone school from out of state.
  13. You make it appear as though MBA consistently schedules noncompetitive 3A teams which is not accurate. MBA and Pearl Cohn have a long standing relationship dating back to the 1960s. The game between these two schools is traditionally one of the best public v. private games in middle TN. Not to mention that PC is usually quite competitive in their own classification. Look at historical MBA schedules and let me know how many other 3A or lower teams show up.
  14. You people fail to understand that there is a difference between financial aid and a scholarship. The DII schools give Financial Aid not athletic scholarships and the need is determined by an independent entity. Just for arguements sake, how is this any different than a family from out of zone paying to attend Maryville or Alcoa? Both require tuition except in the latter situation, the tuition is much less and the academic requirements significantly lower.
  15. Gotta hate when the defense pitches two shut-outs to open up the season. That's just not gonna cut it.
  16. Score updates would be appreciated. Not near a pc.
  17. Coach Counce left to join his father's staff when he was re-named heach coach at Henry County. Obviously, the son, Caleb, went with him. Not sure what happened with the receiver.
  18. ACL That's really unfortunate, he has certainly paid his dues behind some strong running backs. The guy really can't catch a break with non-contact ACL injuries.
  19. What happened to Anderson?
  20. You're being a troublemaker. I know. Funny, I thought FRHS discontinued football after 1997. I'm not sure who replaced them on the schedule but whipping them every year for the last 12 years has been great. .....wow, this causing trouble thing is suprisingly fun.
  21. MBA scored with seven seconds remaining to beat CBHS by one. I think it was 8-7 or 9-8. Sloppy game by both teams, particularly the Big Red. Lots of turnovers, many unforced. MBA looked good in goal and at the faceoff X.
  22. I think Division I is as wide open as it's ever been this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see McCallie, MUS, MBA, Ravenwood, or CBHS beat one another on any given day. McCallie is the favorite, but this should be a really exciting tournament.
  23. I think Cahill is as good if not better than the majority of the people on this D1 list. He could easily end up an All-American and a national champion by the time he graduates.
  24. I've heard a rumor that Coach Caudill has decided not to coach next year. I'm unsure as of the reason but he certainly leaves some big shoes to fill. No doubt Wade has a great resume but he's making a huge jump in terms of the competition he'll face each week. Good thing he has plenty of athletes to help him adjust.
