  1. i wouldn't say that mba is on the fall, i'd say that they're rebuilding. They were average last year, and they're bad this year, but as you said, the coaches think that they're gonna be good next year. Give them a year or two to get the new system in, I think they'll be back to usuall after that.
  2. mba players from 99 playing in college. Jonas, Tate, Barton @ Yale. Dominique, Moses, and Clark Lea @ Vandy. James Pittman @ Rice. Matt Neal @ Sewanee. Ingle Martin @ Florida. Hulsey Smith @ SMU. Andrew Wilson @ Princeton. Bill Frazier @ Centre College. Brett Begley @ University of Kentucky. Zack Wall @ Washington and Lee. Sean Holland @ Georgia Southern. They also had one guy run track @ UVA , one @ Brown, and 1 at USC. One guy play baseball @ Vandy. 2 guys play lacrosse @ Delaware, and 1 play lacrosse @ UNC. That team was loaded with athletes. Not all of them played football in college because some were better at other sports. As far as rankings go, they were ranked in every poll. they were 16th in USATODAY, 7 in Dick butkus' poll, and 7 in Tony Bianco's overall poll, which is an average of all of the other polls. That's 13 Div IA athletes, 5 Ivy League athletes, 3 Div III athletes, and 1 IAA, for a total of 22 college athletes.
  3. Moses is a very good linebacker. They are calling him "little Winborn" at Vandy. Anybody ever heard of Al Wilson or Austin Kemp? What about Will Barthalomew, twice defensive player of the year. Lincoln County always has some good linebackers. Somebody throw out some players from west tennessee
  4. the mba line has been average at best on both sides of the ball. They have a talented group of skill guys in fisher, jauqes, pettes, coban, and goodman, not to mention santi looking very impressive at te. This team could win or lose any game on their schedule depending on how they play, there are no gimmies. However, when they come to play for four quarters they are a good team
  5. i posted this in another thread, but i'm moving it here: are you sure about that mba score? i've been told by several people that mba won that game. that's the problem with scrimmages, everyone has a different story. you don't know who's playing all their guys, who's running all their plays, if their jv teams played, and if so, if that's included in the final score, etc. plus, since there is no official score, it's always slanted towards whomever's reporting it. i'll let you know what i was told by some past and present mba players who were there. they said that mba's first string beat riverdale 19-6, and that after that, riverdale scored a couple on mba's 2's. they said mba was throwing the ball very well and with ease, but that riverdale's running game moved the ball very well on mba's defense. i think that will be the story for the big red this season. they're a little small in the interior, but have good speed and athleticism at the skill spots. i think it'll be a rebuilding year though.

  8. I think title 9 was a terrible attempt to do something good. it caused schools all over the country to drop programs that had men knocking down the door to get a scholarship so that they could add women's programs for which they have trouble filling rosters. i play lacrosse in college, and our team is in financial shambles because of title 9. we have 3.5 scholarships for 44 guys. the girls team, however, is fully funded, as well as the girls volleyball, soccer, cheerleading, and basketball teams. there wasn't a single girl on the lacrosse team who ran a mile in under 6:30, and there wasn't a single guy on our team who didn't. it's ridiculous. football scholarships should not be counted in the quota total because there isn't a girls sport to compare it to. also, it is technically a unisex sport because a few years ago a girl tried out to kick for duke, and a right now, there's a girl trying out to kick somewhere in PA. if she makes the team, then football scholarships shouldn't be included against title 9 because the sports is for men and women. i think they should just do away with title 9 all together, and have 1 football team, 1 basketball team, 1 soccer team, 1 swimming team, etc. all girls and guys will have an equal opportunity to try out, and they best players would make the team.
  9. mba's team in 1999 would knock your lights out. Tate Rich, Barton Simmons, Moses O., K.B. Parkes, Clark Lea, Jonas Rodriguez, and Andrew Ellis to name a few would all run right through you. After the Bolles game, one of their players was quoted as saying, "I've never been hit like that." In the championship game that year, Barton had three monster hits, one of which knocked out some teeth. That was a very physical team. They outscored their opponents something like 425 to 82.
  10. Inlge Martin was the fastest guy on out team and he was clocked severaltimes at 4.48, 4.47. But he also had the fastest 40 our of all of Florida's freshman in their training camp
