  1. Regardless of who is up and who is down, both are still varsity teams so shouldn't congratulations still be in order for beating a district and county rival?
  2. t hat 44...what makes you think it was Coach Vannoy from Cumberland Gap?
  3. I think that if two teams are big time rivals then of course one team might cheer against another while they are playing. However I have also seen several games at Morristown West this week and I have not seen coaches cheering against other teams. If they have been then that is a shame because they should be more professional than that and be setting a better example for their teams. jgarrison...did the girl from CD get suspended or any form of punishment for taking out Newman? I mean from anybody other than her coach obviously.
  4. KevB I will also miss you. I haven't been on here as long as others but I have always enjoyed the information you give in your posts. I am sorry that things have gotten so bad that you have to retire, but you can't help what opinions you have and who takes offense to them. Good luck with the relationship!!
  5. Sports Guy...good statements in your posts. It seems that you might be a follower of CG basketball, and I am very happy to see you on here! thumb I agree with your assessment on Brooks playing tough defense. Since the strategy worked against PF do you think they will play much the same way against SG? Tonight's matchups are likely to be some very good ones. CG lost by 2 and 3 to South Greene this season, but if they play the way that they did Tuesday night against PF then they should come out victorious in this one. Just expect a well played game from both teams. As for Claiborne and Union County....I think that one is up in the air. In our district, anything seems to be possible.
  6. Let me be the first to congratulate the CG Panthers on their win tonight over PF!! It was a slow game for awhile (20-15 at halftime in favor of PF), but the pace really picked up in the 3rd quarter and shifted in favor of CG and they won by 25 with a score of 59-34. Big play tonight from Fultz and Crockett, and the Panthers held DeWyse to 12 points. Now we have to move on and look forward to South Greene on Thursday night. Good luck guys!! thumb
  7. No problem coach58...Andrew Fultz is a senior, but A.J. Fultz is only a Junior. Seniors are Crockett, Brooks, Andrew Fultz, and McFall.
  8. coach58 I am an avid FOLLOWERand SUPPORTER of CG basketball, and I never said that the seniors made the whole TEAM. I didn't write the post to be in any way negative about the future of the basketball program at CG and it should not have been interpreted that way. I said it is difficult to regroup after losing that many seniors, but did I say it was impossible? No. In fact I expect them to be just fine next year. I agree the JV team is going to be good in the future, and they will have Fultz and Brim back to play with them. I didn't mean it negative...I was simply making a statement. I also hope that my TEAM wins
  9. Roberts (54 I think is her #?) seems to be a talented post player, but in games I have seen them play this year she hasn't played a whole lot of minutes. At CG she barely even played until Wolfenbarger got hurt and then she came in and took total control of the game and was a big reason why her team came from behind and won. I also remember her being a big part of the team last year. Is she a senior this year?
  10. I totally agree with you uncdomination. I myself am an avid follower of CG basketball, and agree that the best time for them to be strong in the postseason is now. Losing 4 seniors is almost always hard on a program, especially when they are 3 starters and the "6th man" like you said. They have not been playing incredibly well as of late, so let's hope they bring their "A" game on Tuesday. However, most teams do have several seniors, and I"m sure they will all be playing their hearts out this week because they don't want to be the ones to go home early. KevB.....is Hancock's Clark Powers the one that coached Washburn's boys and girls a few years ago?
  11. I also agree that this tournament is one to get excited about and look forward to...there is a lot of good basketball to be played next week. As far as picks..I look to see Cumberland Gap in the finals, if not winning the whole thing. Yes, they have been inconsistent throughout the course of the season but with the experience on the team and leadership from the seniors I believe that they will make a good run at the end of the season.
  12. I think that PF's guards are better, but they are also complemented very well by some skilled post players. It's true, Claiborne's guards can shoot the ball from 3, but the girls from PF can get it done from anywhere on the floor, and that's including defense.
  13. I think that one of the most unfortunate matchups in the first round is between PF and CG. Both teams have so much talent and potential that it will be a shame to see one of them have to go home so soon. However...it will make for a very good game... thumb I think though that the win will go to CG..they still have something to prove after being picked one of the preseason favorites and finishing 5th in the regular season.
  14. CG is 4-5 in the District. Wins over CD, Rutledge, WG and GP. All 4 on the road.
