Can the ladies from Smith overcome and finally beat the Bees?

OK.Here it goes. They counted the ballots and Melton and Martin tied for coach of the year. They announced a tie with 3 votes each.Everyone assumed 1 coach of the 7 voted for someone other than these 2. They revoted with only Melton and Martin as options to vote for.Melton won.Then they realized later on that the lady counting the votes did not count one teams ballot. When they counted the original 7 (all seven) ballots,Martin had won 4-3. You may disagree by saying Melton went undefeated etc. etc.,but The coaches chose Martin. Something about doing a good or great coaching job within the district with injuries,less talent, etc. I think most coaches judge their peers on district performance and not the whole schedule.They felt DeKalb's 8-4 was a better coaching job than 12-0 from Livingston. Now we all set around and judge these men and say things like,"So you think you could have done as good a job as Melton." Well,If your arguement is that,then we must admit we probably couldn't. As well we probably couldn't choose the COY any better either. So..... I thank the Coaches for their pick.Congrats to Martin. As for MVP. Same situation.The lost ballot ranked Stinson high enough to make him MVP. PS. It looks like the lost ballot was not favorable to Livingston right? Then I hear the lost ballot was ......You guessed it... Livingston's. So maybe in an admirable attempt to be modest, the Livingston ballot sealed their fate. Now regardless of these winners, I expect LA to win the tourney and represent our district well in the region and hopefully on to state, but we shouldn't forget these awards are not based on post season. If Stinson does nothing in the tourney and Cates averages a 100 a game, the coaches weren't voting on that. Likewise, if Melton wins the state as coach and national coach of the year and DeKalb loses in the first round of region it doesn't matter.If Stinson scores 437 against LA, it doesn't validate the pick. If Martin out-coaches Melton in the finals...well you get the picture. All these picks were based on 7 peoples opinions LAST WEEK. THe important thing to remember is their opinions matter and ours don't when it comes to these selctions. Heck I'd give COY to CANNON because he's still breathing. Congrats to the winners. This is the story I got. I was not there.Thank goodness.

You may want to choose different words. My understanding is not that Cates and Melton won and then it was given elsewhere. The story I got is that DeKalb's coach and Stinson won and it was given to Cates and Melton by mistake. Then corrected to give the awards to those who actually won. You may argue the wrong people won,but as far as I know the corrections are the way it voted out.

Actually it ended up being Stinson. The vote count was wrong. Coach is the guy from DeKalb. The way I heard it was they chose Cates and Melton(coach) then recounted and found out different. I don't know who counted,I wasn't there.

THAT'S THE DEAL. From what I've read some may say this man didn't cuss at all. He just used words alot of people don't like. If you attack it from that angle, the situation solves itself. 1.Listen to the coach 2.I don't like what he said. 3.My kid is off the team. as to representing the school 1.Listen to the coach 2.I don't like what he said. 3. Voice my opinion to school board. 4. Vote for a member that best reflects my beliefs. P.S. Ask the kid if the coach's language is offensive in its content. The kid may find it normal,maybe even acceptable even though you and I may not.

What if a coach has done something derogatory?Can we talk about that.

Why can't we talk about the coaches? Does that conversation somehow affect the integrity of this website?

I follow 7aa mostly and wondered who you think is the best five. Of course it could be Livingston's starting lineup. Is the MVP Cates or Stinson or someone else?

Just wondering from Jimbo and others. Who wins this thing and give the four region reps? I feel sure Upperman LA & York go. Is the fourth going to be Macon, Cannon or Smith. I don't know which of these play in the 4\5 spot. Guesses?

2Points #1- She's in 8th grade. The 8th grade has a team. Play there. #2- Nobody in Jackson County is going to start any debate that includes this player and everyone in Smith County knows why.

Give me the final standings or your best guess. With a few weeks left what are the surprises and disappointments.

Trousdale going A Smith going AA Macon, Livingston AAA Portland going AAAA Is this correct? Is this the last year for this region? If so its been fun. Kinda makes this year extra special. BTW, I think this region has proven that enrollment numbers have a minimal impact with making a competitive region.

The term rock'em does not refer to the score, just the fact that I believe they will win. I gotta say Smith has their hands full with both TC and Portland also, but they can beat both. I think Livingston can finish 1st for that matter. 9-1 is not outta the question for them, but you saw the game and you know that. My previous post was for 02, who someone should call about. Livingston folded in the 4th. What I saw was a team that didn't know how to win a game like this. Livingston looked good, but they have their hands full to finish in the top four. Portland will rock'em. Trousdale will rock'em. If they can lose to York and/or Macon they can finish strong in the Upperman Super Bowl Championship Series Bowl Orange Bowl Bowl.
