Hey, I think that its McCroskey not mcroskey tbag4head. But ya he is an awsome 103 pounder to be a freshmen and i think he might have a shot at placing this weekend.
  2. Can anyone enter this tournament? Who do we contact? The AAU Middle School State Tournament will be held Jan 31 at William Blount High School in Maryville. This will be an open dual team tournament.
  3. RC whats coach Spains idea? [Edited by mailman87 on 4-30-03 2:46P]
  4. slim589 We went to those AAU tournaments as well. My high school guys were all finished wrestling by noon. The younger wrestlers started at 1pm. This was the case in all the tournaments for AAU except the State meet. Which tournament did you go to?
  5. Guys seems to me that control from the top position should be stressed a bit more. The red wrestler who cut his man pretty much conceads he does not have the offense to turn the bottom man. Therefore he cuts his opponent, he loses the first point and choice should it come to OT. Folkstyle and college wrestling is more about control than just being able to take your opponent down. You must be able to control and score from all three positions. Riding time plays a big part in the score of a college match. (I'm not in favor of bring this to the high school level.) I do think that if our wrestlers were to work on mat wrestling a bit more you may find this question of overtime a mute point. If you did find your self in a tie situation why not wrestle a new thirty second three period match. Most aggressive wrestler wins.
  6. Yes Houston is a great wrestler... little too competitive sometimes... but great wrestler. What web site do the kids get nominated at for this combine? I would think any college NCAA, Division I, II, III or NAIA whatever would be a great chance for a college education and continued learning experience on the field. Not every athlete can be a division I player, that certainly don't mean there not competitors. Some of your greatest coaches learned the game playing sandlot. If you have a true love for the sport what difference does big or small school make? Hope all that would like to continue playing get the chance.
  7. CADET & ELITE WEIGH INS FRIDAY 5:00 TO 5:30 WRESTLE 6:00 PM TOT, BANTAM & MIDGET WGT IN SAT 8:00 TO 8:30 WRESTLE 9:30 AM JUNIOR & sCHOOLBOY WGT IN SAT 2:00 TO 2:30 WRESTLE 3:30 PM That's what I have on the flyer. Picked it up this past weekend so it should be current. Good Luck.
  8. The tournament is AAU Modified Folkstyle. Basically the cadet and elite wrestle one three minute round. All starts are on your feet no referee position. You get fifteen seconds to turn your man or you start back on your feet. This is only the cadet, elite and open division. Tot thru Schoolboy is folkstyle. Usually around 300 to 350 wrestle in this tournament.
