  1. Congrats to Kyle, he is an amazing wrestler and person. I believe he trains in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the U.S. Olympic Training Center; under Terry Brands and along side wrestlers like Joe Warren. Congrats to Kyle.
  2. If memory serves me correctly Red Bank would be more of a wrestling school considering they are tops in the state for most individual state champions all time, and they have won more titles or have gone incredibly far way more times than in football. They are just experiencing a drought that will end soon. Coach Emily is doing an amazing job, notice how young that team is (what with two or three 9th graders making state I believe). I can recall when people used to fear Red Bank Wrestling and kids used to want to grow up and wrestle for Red Bank; and I am sure I will see it again. Give it some more time, and I see a state title in the future; especially with a coach like Coach Emily.
  3. It was on TV here in Chattanooga, they switched back and forth between D1 and D2 so all I can give is what I saw.... D1 103- Randolph(Bradley) 112-Johnson(Mun.) 119-Adamson(ND) close match 125-Usary(SH) 130-Bundy(Hend.) 135-Fuller(SD) 140-? 145-? 152-Wright (Hou.) Wright was very dominate on his feet Spain really did little to no real offense..... 160- Creagan (Bradley) Very close match Tolbert dominates first two periods gives it up in third.... 8-6 171-Can't remember this match but I think it was Roberson(SD) but not sure... 189-Morgan (Union Co.) 215- Reveiz (Farr.) very close match could have gone either way... 275- Vandergriff (K. Halls) another close one Sivley couldn't do much Vandergriff was too big.... D2 - not sure on a lot of these not a big D2 fan- 103-? 112-Whitaker (Bay) 119-? 125- Johnson (Bay) 130-Young (McCallie) 135- Manson (Bay) 140- Young (McCallie) CLOSE MATCH.... very close 145-Doster (Bay) another close one Goss could have won it just as easy... 152- Waddell (Bay) No contest... 160-? 171-? 189- Walker (Bay) Dominated.... PINNED 215- Coffey (JPJ) 275-? Don't know the MOW but I would have went with Bundy or Usary in D1 and in D2 Walker, Manson, Waddell all could easily take it.... Team Champs- D1 1st Soddy Daisy 2nd Bradley Central 3rd Notre Dame D2 not sure on second and third 1st Baylor - BY A LOT 2nd either McCallie or MBA I know MBA was up by about ten or so half way through the finals not sure how it turned out....
  4. So close.... Tolbert dominates the first two periods but gives up a big takedown and three back points.... Great job though, Creagan couldn't do anything the first two period Danny dominated with a takedown in the first and then another in the second, if you saw the match you could tell Tolbert was superior on his feet, but one 5pt move brings him up short, Creagan wins 8-6 in an exciting match.... Great job though Danny....
  5. I just wanted to say congratulations to Danny Tolbert for making the finals, the first Red Bank wrestler to make the state finals since the 2001-02 season when Justin Gooden wrestled Adam Raines of Bradley and lost.... and a win would give Red Bank its first state champion since the 2000-01 season where Shawn Cordell won state his Fr year and Darren McKnight won his third state title..... I also want to say congrats to Coach Kevin Emily and the Red Bank Lions for an awesome season, I know these guys are some of the hardest working guys in the state, they are constantly improving and bringing Red Bank back to the top. I see many more state finalists, state champions in the future for this team and soon I feel that they will rise to the top again to take home a Team State Championship.... Awesome job guys and Good Luck today Danny Tolbert and Rick McKnight.....
  6. Whats up with Brandon O'Neal? Is he not wrestling this year or something? I didn't see him on there!
  7. Hey anyone from Red Bank or who knows Red Bank matches try and post as much as you can about there matches... I want to keep up with them and hear how they do this year... Good Luck Guys!
  8. How come ND didn't put out a 189? I know they have one, where was he?
  9. I don't know who will win the dual meet between the two, but Stokes was nothing less of amazing, that is if he is CHS 152lber. The way he wrestled Ben Bernie I was impressed, I had seen Bernie throwing guys around and then he wrestled the CHS 152 which was I think Cody Stokes. Cody was extremely aggressive, the match was close until he shocked me and pinned Bernie. I just wanna say nice job!
  10. On Nov. 23 at the Red Bank, Dalton, Cookville match I got to see Hope Proctor wrestle against a Dalton kid, and I was very impressed. I know she said she is a 119 pounder and thats the weight she is used to and wants to go, but she has not started cutting. Well, against Dalton they put her in at 130lbs and I thought "Why would you gie up six points like that?" The Dalton kid scored the first takedown, but when the second period started and she threw in those legs, she rode him for three back points no problem. Then third period he scored a takedown on her but had a Technical Violation, locking the legs around her head below the knee. She got one point and it went to overtime tied 4-4. She lacked neutral skills and was taken down again, but to take a varstiy member from another school to overtime and wrestling two weight classes up from what you are used to is hard even for most guys, so I was impressed to see her do so well. She is killer from that leg ride and I feel if she can get some neutral technique, shoot some more and score more on feet she will be a deadly threat. Plus here at Red Bank we added a new member to the team today, her name is Story Reddick, she wrestled girls wrestling and was amazing, very aggressive and very motivated. We have no 119 pounder so she will be filling in that spot, maybe not this year but if she stays with it she'll be a major threat soon.
  11. I have to go with the Owls on this one, they have 13 state qualifiers returning. I went to the practices UTC was holding at the end of the year, and there were a bunch of Ooltewah guys there who looked tough. They have been practicing and are only getting better, I think they have a shot at state this year, Hixson can't compete and Red Bank, Soddy Daisy and East Ridge are a challenge but I feel only Red Bank or Soddy Daisy will have the power (leaning more toward Red Bank). Central has no one shinning, has no power. When we wrestled them I saw maybe three guys who were worth something the rest have nothing.
  12. I wasn't that impressed with Justin Knox, he was in a weight class with 10 guys and took 6th! His first match he barely won 3-1 to a North Carolina kid who should have won, and second round barely won 3-2. All I saw from him was a lot of pushing and waiting for the other guy to shoot. He looked badly out of shape, he got tired earlier and had the other guys who lost to him had enough strength he would have been done for. I was looking foward to watching him wrestle to see the work he had done over summer to improve, but I didn't see anything too impressive. I hope he gets in better shape so I can see him wrestle in top condition.
  13. If Scott won't be back until Jan. then why is he on the list for the NHSCA PReseason Championships in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, this coming weekend? It has him, Knox and Blankenship.
  14. I have to go with my favorite Rick Mcknight. He has worked so hard over the summer, even placed 8th at the NHSCA Nationals at Virginia Beach. He is gonna be awesome this year. don't forget about Tyler Wright from East Ridge second in state last year lost to John Lane Soddy Daisy. Ryan Fuller is very strong, he should have beatne Cordell last year (-cough- pretty much did but Cordell stalled and found a miraculous way to pull one out). Manson from Baylor is tough. Minwell Clarksville took second, losing to Gibson. And of corse the DUHS that are returning, Dix (1st), Knox (2nd) , Bundy (1st), Coleman (2nd), Felix (2nd).....etc....guys like them!
  15. I agree with you when I say I have a lot more fat than I should, but personally that is my right. I wrestled 189 over the summer in AAU and NHSCA, and I plan to wrestle it this year until I can be at 171. To weigh 199 is my right, I have practiced all summer, worked out all summer and enjoyed eating the things I love to eat, yet still stayed true to wrestling. Its not like I went out and sat on my butt eating potato chips, in actually I ate out with friends and my parents almost every night enjoying a good steak or something to the such, had I not worked out then I would weigh 210 or so but I did. Thats besides the point though, my point is it has been done this way for years, I have done it like this my high school career. If they say 7% is the lowest I agree full heartedly, we don't need to go out there looking sickly. I have met my 7%, why add a rule only allowing 1.5% a week. Kids with more percent should be allowed to lose more a week thats all I am saying. Now that practice is starting back I lose close to an average of 5lbs a day (gaining 2 back from eating), but I can lose it so much easier than kids with lower percentages so why can't I be allowed to lose more than 1.5%. What wrestler can't say some of there best memories were working hard to make a weight training and cutting, to come match time and step on that scale on weight eat there food feel good about accomplishing that task and then winning a match. For me its one of the greastest feelings. To set a goal for a weight, work toward it and make it in the amount of time right for me!
  16. I am incredibly angered by this rule, it has almost ruined my senior year. I have been varsity my freshmen, sophomore and junior years. I planned this year on wrestling 171, last year I was 160. Well I took my test and weighed 199.4 with 23.45% body fat, meaning the lowest I can cut is 164.5 perfect right? Wrong! According the the extremely gay 1.5% body fat a week loss I can wrestling 171 Jan. 10th, over half my season. I can go 189 until then but thats an 18lb difference. And they keep check of weight loss, so I can only lose so much a week but if I don't lose that so much then I wait longer. For example: Say one week I can weigh 175 according to the paper, I step on the scale for a match that week and it says 177 (now I am wretling 189) my coach records that, now its sent through and now the next week I can only weigh 175 again because I didn't lose that 1.5% the week before, so I have to wait another week to get to 171. The reverse is if I weigh less than what I can weigh that week my coach is warned and we could get in serious trouble, so I have to weigh exactly what that little thing says I can, nothing more and nothing less. This is the most stupid thing I have ever seen. The really gay part is the complaining for weight loss in wrestling programs comes from you 112's wanting to wrestle 103 or 119 wanting 112, its not the upper weights. My freshmen I weighed 188 the beginning of the year dropped to 160, sophomore I weighed 193 wrestled 171, junior year weighed 197 wrestled 160 and even made it to 152 mid-season, and now I weigh 199 and wanna wrestle 171 but can't until Jan. 10th. Just want to say thanks to whoever came up with this idea because it has ruined my SENIOR year. Let us wrestle the way we always have and let us cut the way we always have, its always worked in the past why change it now!?!
  17. I have to go with Quinn Gibson. I feared him a lot because he always looked so calm, he went through his moves never freaking out just hitting moves and finishing matches. Also I didn't like wrestling Nathan Jones from Cleveland and John Edmonds from Science Hill, the were incredible. Nathan just put the hammer on you and hurt you till you just said no more, and Edmonds would just come at you with an all out assault of moves that left you breathless. I hated wrestling them three!
  18. Hey you are all forgetting that McKnight did beat Wright in the Red Bank East Ridge match, it was a very close match, but McKnight did win, the second time they wrestled McKnight was caught in something he should not of been caught in and was pinned by Wright. Plus McKnight has stepped it up quite a bit since then, he has wrestled ten times better in the second half of the season.
  19. I was just wondering if Hixson had anyone worth talking about, I know they have an okay 140 in Chris Carr, but do they have anyone else, have they done anything this year? What are some results from some of their matches, like with Soddy, East Ridge, Baylor, McCallie?
  20. Well, Rick McKnight and Leen will be a good match, Rick has stepped it up a bit this second half of the season, he won the Hewitt-Trussville Tournment down in Alabama, with two pins, a win 16-3, and a OT win over a top ranked opponent from Parkview, Ga. At 112 Lucas Strozak and Manson will be a good rematch, I think Manson pinned him at the McCallie Tourn. but Strozak has stepped it up a bit also, he placed 2nd down in Alabama after being seeded 8th, knocked off the number 1 seed. At 160 Spitalny and Mooney will definately be a good match, Spitalny beat Mooney by 3 or 4 when they wrestled at the McCallie Tournment. I think Vaughn and Williams will be a close match, Williams came very very close to beating Hobbs twice, so look for a fairly close match there. And O'Neal and Walker will be good. Red Bank doesn't have much of a chance of winning but they won't be shut out. They are missing a 215 pounder and thats all. Starting off the season they had a good chance at a run, but a couple hard blows have put them out, with people quiting, injuries, and people not making weight.
  21. Come on someone has to have like results from each weight, I have been looking for them but can't them, someone post somewhere to go to get them or post the actual results. Thanx =)
  22. No thats not true, but he is an awesome wrestling, he has been pinned by him every time in the first period I believe.
  23. Some Red Bank guys are dropping weights to certify, how do you guys think they will do if they make it? 152-Garren Huskey, is dropping to 145, he is around 6-7 or so, 160-Mickey Mooney, is dropping to 152, he is 12-6, placed 2nd at Ooltewah, and 7th at McCallie, 171-Josh Williams drops to 160, he is 12-7, he recently beat Matt Litner or whatever from Soddy who won the Ooltewah tourn., 189-Brandon O'Neal, to 171, he is 13-6, placed 4th Ooltewah, 7th McCallie, 8th Father Ryan. Now the only for sures are Mickey and Garren, Williams and O'Neal are cutting but if it gets to hard they aren't dropping.
  24. I saw Gresslar wrestle the Houston kid and he was winning, but was caught and did go down in points, then was pinned, I was impressed that he was beating the Houston kid but then when he got caught, and changed my impression.
  25. I don't know the actual results for the tourney as of right now, but I do know that Father Ryan is winning. Thy had a guy in the quaters at almost every single weight class. Red Bank started strong with 5th after the first two rounds, Strozak, Siler, McKnight, Mooney, Williams, O'Neal all made it through the opening rounds with big wins. Including a big pin from O'Neal, I believe one from Williams and one from the injured Mooney (pulling a muscle between the seperation of ribs at McCallie). The next round of winners bracket was a tough one McKnight and O'Neal topping off wins, Mooney's match going to double overtime, resulting in an escape from Farraguts 160, Mooney would also hurt his pulled muscle majorily, and almost decided not to finish the tourn. It would end today with McKnight the only wrestler in the semis from Red Bank, but Strozak, Siler, freshmen JV backup Hamilton, Williams and O'Neal all staying strong in the Consolation semis.Hamilton even racked up a pin, thats awesome considering he is a freshmen 125 backup, at the hardest weight class at the tourn.
