I have not met one head coach who agrees with you. Everyone would agree that MC is the better situation but NO ONE agrees with the timing. If he had been under contract it would have been impossible. He wasn't there but just a few weeks. Like I said before, very unprofessional.

I wish they had went back to 5 classes but the money got in the way, it was just too difficult for them to give up that extra income for the six class.

Covington will be #1 in 4A and Milan will be #1 in 3A. The two worst teams will still be Haywood and Gibson Co. Every other team will fight for third and fourth place.

You must be Pitts or someone close to him. I don't know of any coach who would leave his team after July 4th.

Pitts should have done his homework before saying yes to Stratford just a few months back. He walked out on a team during preparations for the season. He very well may have left out of FEAR but he should not have accepted the job in Metro. It's one thing to resign in March, but the 2nd week of July? Say what you like, I think it speaks to his character.

It takes over a month to go through the process of hiring a coach in Metro. You have no clue.

My point is he made a poor decision in the spring or now. He left some kids in Nashville without a coach.

There is much more to this whole story than people know IMHO. Holliday was looking for a coaching position when his father got sick and he left to go home to Ohio. He was going to be the head coach at either West Creek or NW in Clarksville. He applied for several jobs and was leaving the Rebels no matter what. The talent level was going to be way down even thought the numbers were supposedly still up. The Principal hired an old buddy instead of looking at the larger pool of talented coaches that applied for the position in the Spring. That backfired when the man was caught drinking and driving on July 4th. Supposedly a call was made to the Austin (the interim head coach who became the youngest head football coach in the state when he accepted the position at Northwest). He passed after being looked over by the Principal in May. Now, it will be interesting to see how this plays out because the word out of Dover is the position may go to another guy who coached the Rebels several years back. I guess recycling old assistant coaches is the pattern now that Holliday is gone. Myles was the ONLY successful head football coach in school history. Chris Guynn went way outside the box when he hired Holliday. Whoever takes his place will benefit for two years from his leadership but will be on their own after Holliday's talent graduates. I know Stratford is one of the worst schools in Metro but what kind of a coach accepts a head coaching position at a school, then walks away from his team just two weeks before the start of football season to accept the same position at another school. Granted, Marshall County does have an indoor practice facility and a ton of more support than Stratford but this guy knew all of that before he accepted the Metro position. It is a matter of character and a total lack of judgement in my humble opinion. Either he made a bad decision in his mind for accepting the position at SHS or he made a poor character decision in abandoning the boys at Stratford so late in the pre-season. I can't find any excuse for a head coach leaving his post after July 1st. Don't think this move won't hurt him down the road as he applies for jobs in the future.

Who can take this job? It will have to be a young coach with little or no head coaching experience because everyone is already committed to their programs. Practice starts in less than two weeks with 7-on-7 work starting across the state. Also, where in the world will they put together a staff this late in the year? A few rejects who can't find a job somewhere? Maybe some old coach who is down on his luck? It doesn't look good for the Tigers but maybe the right person is out there? I just thought of a name of a head coach looking for a job. He was the head coach at Ripley until March of this year. He might be just what you need.

I will turn 30 soon and I'm not sure I'm ready for a head coaching position but I know for sure I wasn't four or five years ago. What does it say about a position that the administration offers the job to a young man like this? Did no experienced coaches want the gig?

I don't know who BVD is but if he's my alter ego he must be rich because I'm not! But of course, he must be ugly too.
