I heard on the Mt. Pleasant radio station that it was a 22 point lead with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter. MP was running away with it.

Perry County is good.... their sophomores are the heart of that team.... but Collinwood has always been known for it's stellar defense.... and I don't think that that has changed this year. Actually, this year more than ever they are really counting on their 'D' to shut down people. Perry County is going to be a tough test for anyone on their schedule. This should be one heck of a game....

Diana never got much of a chance to step in because Beavers was the point guard the whole year. She and her sister, along with Myers, never got hurt and therefore those three positions were virtually locked the entire year. She could have gone in as the 3-man, but that is not her position. She is either a 1 or a 2. Amy Beavers was the 1, Amanda Beavers was the 2, McNutt was the 3, McDonald was the 4, Myers the 5. When her team needed her she stepped in........ but if you had seen her in camp this year, you would know that she has worked very hard and has improved a lot and will help her team in every way possible. Like most teams in this district, they will all be looking for a lot of help from some underclassmen. I think Davenport is a good player, no she is not Erica, but she is still good. She may not be the player that Erica was, but she is trying to be the leader that everyone remembers. This thread is about the teams in District 12-A, not the individual players. Some teams have some stand-out stars, but they aren't the team. Talk about the teams.....

--I think that the main story will be between Perry County and Collinwood. Both of these teams are really young and PC returns 3 dynamite sophs. Edney is one of the best shooters in the district when you give her time to line up her shot. Rhodes is not bad either. Collinwood got a lot of talent moved up from the State Runner-Up team from Jr. High. Not to mention having Greer and Hensley. These two are loaded..... Collinwood will need a scorer step up and Perry County doesn't need to get too cocky though. --Eventhough Wayne County lost a lot in the players that they graduated, they are rich in tradition and will carry themselves like they always have....... they will get the wins... no doubt about it...They have always been one of the best in the district in years past and none of them want to be the ones that change that this year. People should not underestimate them for losing the Beavers girls and Myers. They still have McNutt, Davenport, and McDonald...... --Summertown has a great coaching tradition and a lot of people are counting them out.... but I would never underestimate them. They are always scrappy and fast. I would expect them to be up in the top half of the bracket like always. They are not dwelling on what they lost...... --Santa Fe really surprised some people last year and I think they will continue to play better and better as the season wears on. If the Hodge kid didn't graduate, they should have a good shooting threat every game. --Columbia Academy should be a sleeper team. They are very much capable of finishing in the middle half of the bracket, but they can't seem to get along very well. I can't remember those two girls names..... Sophs. I think... if they would play together they'd be killer, but they won't pass each other the ball. --Frank Hughes is a sleeper as well. I don't know much about their underclassmen, except they have a pretty tall freshman. But Allen is the best post in the district and Watson is the best all-around player and shooter. They should surprise some people.... --Hampshire returns Hickman I believe, and she has gotten better every year she has played. They also still have Cothran. I hear they have some pretty good underclassmen as well. They should be stuck in the middle again. --Mt. Pleasant should be quick with Sharnreka and #10 returning. They will probably be in the lower half of the bracket this year. --Zion Christian is not very publicized but they improve a lot every time they play. I believe they will be better this year and maybe even surprise some people... Top Teams: Perry Co., Collinwood, Wayne Co. Middle: Santa Fe, Frank Hughes, Summertown, Hampshire Bottom: Columbia Academy, Zion Christian, Mt. Pleasant Sleepers: Frank Hughes and CA; if they play to their potential, they could give the top 4 a good run for their money. Look how Frank Hughes did vs. Summertown in the Tournament last year....... CA is going to turn some heads if they can just learn to get along and just play....

Everyone on here that is a Wayne Co. fan always talks about the same people. Joseph Ruddle and sometimes CJ Hammack and Avery Laster. Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I just wanted to give credit where credit is due...... one name can describe why the Wildcat's even had a chance: STEVEN RUDDLE! Don't get me wrong, CJ, Joseph, and Avery all had good games, but Steven just kept them in it. Joseph would throw a bad pass over Steven's head, or he would throw one low, and Steven would move in the air and somehow catch it. He made some huge plays and is the reason WC won. I mean, Avery's defense and CJ's yards were good, and of course you can't have a team at all without a QB, but Steven kicked butt. He not only caught some of the most amazing catches all year, but he also tackled and did his part on the defensive side of the ball too. It seems like all these people continue to talk about Joseph and Avery all the time, but they need to take a closer look and they will see why Wayne Co. wins at all, and it is because of players like Steven and his dedication and hard work. Way to go Steven! I give you the credit and recognition you deserve! Keep at it!

Does anyone know the standing at the end of the regular season for 11-A and 12-A? Please post them from first to last place. Anyone have any recommendations for the softball all-season/tournament team from what you've seen this season?

Does anyone know if Brooks Majors from Warren Co. is playing on an AAU basketball team or a USSSA baseball team this summer or not? If you have any information (i.E.: stats from his high school basketball season, team names, baseball or basketball information) please post it!

I know a kid from Wayne Co. named Steven Ruddle that is a spectacular football player. He is a junior this year and I noticed that his teammate Will Gallian signed with UT-Martin and was compelled to post this. I think that Steven should get a scholarship offer from somewhere. He is a great player. With his size and strength, he could actually play almost anywhere on the field. I really hope to see him play in college one day. Someone is missing out if they don't snag this kid....

I believe that Fallon Blackburn from Moore Co. is transferring to Tullahoma for some personal reasons......

I thought that since teams like Santa Fe, Summertown, Perry Co., and Wayne Co. all had 'honorable mentions' on the Middle TN All-State Honorable Mention Team, that maybe smaller school than that with good players should have some too. It really surprised me that all these schools had a nominee. I thought for sure that Frank Hughes would get an Honorable Mention. Whether it was Watson or Allen. I think one of them should have been mentioned.

I am not sure, but I think that Frank Hughes' home course is the Bear Trace Golf Course at Ross Creek Landing in Clifton, Tn. This is such a beautiful facility and has excellent scenery. Not to mention the fact that it is one of the top courses in the state to have competition on. It is one-of-a-kind. Especially for high school kids to compete on. It is the prettiest and most well-kept course around....

A- Abby Fanning, Eason may have score more, and Richardson may have more rebounds, but Fanning deserves it. Where was Scotts Hill and Bradford in March? Sitting at home. Where was Abby Fanning's team? Semi-finals of the State Tournament. I don't think it should just be about individual stats. It should also be about YOUR TEAM'S performance as well. Plus, she broke her school's steals and assists records AND the state's record for assists too! AA- Although Beechboard is an AWESOME player, I believe that it is between Cavin and Hall. They even out so well. One may average more points, but the other has more rebounds. The same goes with assists and steals. They are pretty evenly matched, but because of the way Miss Basketball has went in the past few years, I believe Hall may get it. AAA- There is no doubt that Ashley Shields of Memphis Melrose whould be choosen for this one. Anyone that can average 35 points a game for a AAA school, deserves more than Miss Basketball. It is not just about her points either, she is above average in all statistical categories. I cannot believe that no one has paid this kid more attention!!!!

Yes, Amber Stricklin is one of their pitchers. They are predicted to do about the same as they did last year. I believe they finished 4th in the District, I could be mistaken though. Their coach is awesome and continues to do an awesome job in all she attempts......

He was born in Cookeville and was home schooled by his mother until the family moved to Virginia. He then entered high school at Cave Springs HS in Roanoke, Va. He practiced out in the yard at his house and played on occassional summer league teams, but he never played at a junior high school. His family lived in TN until he was 14. Probably in the Jackson Co. area. J.J. is the most pure shooter I have ever seen. He is one of my all-time favorite Dukies. (Shane Battier is up there too!) He is so awesome...... one of the best I have ever seen!

I believe that the Lady Tide of Peabody will be back in the 'Boro next year. The deserved the gold ball. Peabody played like champions the entire game. I really admire them for playing for their teammate #33 (CynKenya). She would have been their only senior and I think that is so touching that they played for her. Congratulations to Peabody! I am now a Lady Tide fan!!!

Personally, I think that MC played WONDERFUL all season and especially when they needed to step up in the tournaments. After taking her team to the State Semi-finals in the 'Boro, and breaking the state and her school's assist record, don't you think she should be Class-A Miss Basketball? She deserves it more than Eason and Richardson. It is not just about individual stats, like how many points she has scored in her career and all that. It is also about who has lead their team all season and into post-season play. Abby's team is the only one out of the other 2 nominee's teams, that made it past Region. She did what she had to do and proved to everyone that she IS Class-A Miss Basketball. Way to go Ab! Best of luck in all you attempt!!!
