  1. I also learned that Farragut was leading Baylor 9-1 in the 7th inning. That information is current as of 9:30 EDT. Pfieffer started on the hill for FHS. Not sure about Baylor.
  2. Many, many thanks to WUCP LP FM106.1 for broadcasting the Admiral baseball games!! You provide a great service to those that want to keep up with our favorite baseball team, as well as to the Farragut community!! Thanks again!! And to those that may not know, WUCP faces a difficult future.... log on to WUCPLP.com and take note of the need to petition the FCC to allow their broadcast frequency change. WUCP is truly a non-profit, listener-supported station, and provides alternative Christian programming and high school sports coverage in the Farragut area. Please give your support to WUCP LP FM106.1
  3. It should be a very entertaining game tomorrow afternoon at the Ballpark at Farragut. I'm sure the Siegel Stars will bring their best effort against the Admirals. It will be a good test for them. Just a note - following the game, the first annual Admiral Alumni game will be held. Should be a fun time seeing some of the former players come back to Farragut for a great gathering. Hope the rain breaks up to allow a good game. Y'all come out and watch some of your former Admiral favorites. "Once an Admiral, always an Admiral"
  4. I'm actually replying to Hozr's post.... That post was very well put. There have been several local HS baseball graduates that "elected" to go elsewhere than UT to continue their baseball career. All had their individual reasons. I think it's grossly unfair to criticize the UT baseball program on a wholesale level on that point.
  5. Again, congrats to the South Doyle Cherokees and their coach Robby Howard!! You guys had a great season, represented East TN in a great way. Also, congrats to the Bartlett Panthers and their coach, Phil Clark!! That's a great acheivement to return to the Championship game, and then win it this time. My Farragut hat's off to both teams!! PS: A special shout out to Jake Fowler and his family!!
  6. Congrats to the South Doyle Cherokees and their coach, Robbie Howard. They richly deserve the chance to play for the 2007 AAA State Championship. And also congrats to Bartlett and their coach, Phil Clark. Two years in a row in the State Championship. Farragut was able to get by them last year, and I'm sure SD will have to hit it well, and pitch a good one to win. My Farragut hat's off to both teams!!!
  7. Farragut won over WmBlount last night in a good game 7-3. Matt Ramsey pitched a very good 6 2/3 for the win; Shane Glarrow finished up for the save. McGill pitched for the Governors, and had that good good curve working pretty well, but the Admirals managed to put up 4 in the 2nd, 1 in the 4th (I think), and 2 more late in the game for the win. No big fireworks in this one -- just a good hard fought game between 2 good HS teams.
  8. We look forward to everyone coming to Knoxville this weekend for the SportsBelle Classic Tournament. It should be a great tournament, in spite of the anticipated cool temperatures. Just get back out the long sleeves, sweatshirts, and blankets and come enjoy some good HS baseball!!
  9. Is anyone aware of any internet radio broadcasts of the games this weekend? If so, please post the internet links here. Thanks!!
  10. Ooops, I just now saw this... Your compliment is very humbling. Just an old ball coach showin' off on the radio.... Thanks so much for listening!! Send WUCP FM106.1 and Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church a "Thank You" for putting the games on the air. They are really great folks there, and want to contribute so much to Admiral sports.
  11. Great post, Hozr!! While Catapano certainly helped carry the Admirals far in the post-season (see my other post just now), folks shouldn't forget the contributions of Bryan Powell (shutting down a very, very good South Doyle team in the AAAD4 tournament; and pitching to Collierville in a 3-0 L with a strike zone not over the plate!!) Also Freshman LHP Cooper with a 5-0 win over Collierville to keep the Ads alive in Murfreesboro. And Michael Joseph with a huge pickoff in the 3-2 elimination win over Ravenwood!!...... Should I continue? Hozr's right!! It was a TEAM championship. David Reynolds and Ty Nelson hitting the ball all over the ballyard. Curt Powell diving for base hits at 1B. Cade Stallings playing like a veteran at 3B. Solid defense all week. Many contributed to the Championship!!!!
  12. If I'm not mistaken, Catapano won all 6 postseason games he pitched. Two wins in D4AAA, Reg 2 semi win vs. Knox Halls, sectional win vs Kingsport Dobbyns-Bennett, State tournament wins vs. Ravenwood and Bartlett. The Admirals really had 2 quality lefties -- the other was senior Bryan Powell. The Admirals will have several quality pitchers next year, beginning with Matt Ramsey (Jr, RHP). The freshman LHP Cooper won a State Tournament game 5-0 vs. Collierville (6.1 IP, 2H, 0ER, 0R, 2BB, 9K). Others include RHP and 1B Thoreson, RHP Glarrow, RHP Newby, RHP & 3B Stallings. I'm sure I've missed others, but I'm sure Coach Pharr will develop more that will step in and do well.

    Farragut Game

Oh, yeah.... You're right, you did kick my butt!! Many, many times as I recall. Of course, that was back in the 1800s. :>)

    Farragut Game

LCBorn, you're not exactly in exclusive company in terms of folks that beat me in church basketball. Did you play at Concord UMC? And you're right -- that was longer ago than I care to admit publicly. You've got me stumped now!! I would love to know who you are.
  15. Coop is certainly a worthy nominee.... Another would be Mikey Joseph. His pickoff of a runner at 2B after a leadoff double helped seal a win in the tournament for the Admirals. It's an axiom for the ages: "Once an Admiral, always an Admiral."

    Farragut Game

It's me. See my other post just up.
  17. Opp, It was good to meet you today. I was the Farragut radio guy. Thanks for all the pre-game help. Good luck to you in your new ventures in Arkansas. Unfortunately for the Panthers, they took on a Farragut team with nothing to lose. Catapano was "on" tonight, like no other time this season. I think tonight's performance was better than the opening game vs. Ravenwood. All us Farragut folks are still giddy.....

    Farragut Game

Y'all are far too kind..... Just an old ball coach showing off on the radio.... It's good to hear from old friends like HV, Bizazz, SoupKitchen, and AD25. Go Admirals!! Let's come back to Murfreesboro and do this next year!! Look for another celebration at the Ballpark at Farragut in the days ahead. By the way, the team should arrive at Farragut between 1:30 and 2:00pm tomorrow. Let's have a huge crowd to greet the STATE CHAMPION ADMIRALS!!
  19. Sorry for the confusion on the Collierville pitchers in tonight's second game at Oakland. The only way to get the starting lineups is to get them from the PA announcer as the managers meet the umpires at the plate immediately prior to the game. For the second game, the lineups were *not* announced. So basically, everything was a surprise. I was guessing on the lineups based on what Farragut and Collierville had done in their previous 2 games. HV, you're right -- Lambert started for Collierville, and the Ads started off with a bang, scoring 5 runs in the T1. Lambert was relieved by Haislip (sp? -- not on the official program roster), who was later relieved by Clark, who started at 1B. The Admirals score 3 more in the T2, and hang on for the 8-3 win. Lawson Cheek gets the win, with a big assist from Shane Glarrow, who pitched the 7th. Maybe not a save technically, but a great outing for Shane -- 3 up and 3 down. The Ads advance to their 5 state final in the past 6 years!! Thanks to all for listening!!
  20. Biz, Thanks for your support of the Admirals this season, and HS baseball in general over the years. I noticed you and your son were at our game with Knox Halls on Monday night (I saw you from the pressbox-- I even gave you props on the radio!!). Your support of HS baseball in the Knoxville area has made a big difference in local success at the state level. Thanks again!! Are you going to Murfreesboro for any of the games? I'll have to see if I can get a "kitchen pass" to get away....
  21. They said it couldn't be done!! ..... This was probably Coach Pharr's finest coaching job ever since coming to Farragut. Catapano goes the distance, and leads the Admirals to a 3-2 victory to earn a 6th straight trip to the Spring Fling. The game was tight all the way, and unfortunately, I was limited to listening to the game on WUCP FM106.1. (Thanks again, to WUCP for broadcasting Admiral Baseball!!). For personal reasons, I couldn't be at J.Fred for today's game. But the Admirals pulled it out. I wasn't sure they were, though, at times leaving runners in scoring position, and grounding into 2 or 3 inning-ending double plays. The Indians got a runner on base by walk in the B7, but stranded him on 2 succeeding deep fly balls. I understand the last one was caught by LF Eskew on the warning track. Whew!! Great job, Admirals!! Congratulations!!
  22. Easy now, STATEment.... I know you were there when the Ads defeated Halls in the 2004 state final. The Ads won in a big comeback in last year's Region 2 final. I'm too old to remember before that.....
  23. From my observation post in the pressbox, I thought it was a great game by two great teams giving everything they had for their team and school. Lots of class shown by both sides all through the game. Lockwood certainly pitched well enough to win, and deserved a better fate. It was unfortunate that a game of that importance and magnitude was played on a chilly, rainy evening much more like an early season climate. I thought that Lockwood may have been affected just a bit after the rain delay, as some of his pitches were a bit higher after that. The Admirals adjusted just enough to put the ball in play, getting that one run. The 2B, Perry, had made a major league play earlier to rob Farragut's Stallings of an RBI, by diving to his glove side, scrambling to his feet, to throw out Stallings to end the inning. In the T7, with runners at 1st and 3rd, a ground ball hit by Delmonico to Perry was misplayed briefly, he tried to tag the FHS runner from 1st, missed, and then threw wide at first. All runners safe, but a run scored. On the next play, FHS missed a suicide squeeze, losing the runner at third. The inning ended soon thereafter. Catapano struck out the side in the B7 to end the game, retiring the Halls leadoff hitter for the only time in the game. Great game!! Hats off to the Red Devils on a terrific season!! Coach Delmonico had to be excited for Joey to drive in that winning run, and for Lockwood's pitching performance. I think he got 10 Ks. I believe Catapano almost matched him with 9Ks.
  24. If the weather cooperates, and the Good Lord's willin', we'll have today's Farragut -Halls Region 2 semifinal game on the radio. It can be heard in the West Knox County area on WUCP LP FM106.1. It can also be heard via internet: http://unioncpchurch.com/defaultcurrenteve...y=currentevents and then click on the "connection" at the bottom of the page.
  25. CoachT, Were listening to the WUCP broadcast via internet? If so, thanks for listening!! Any other listeners, let us know with an email to DugoutDad@hotmail.com. Thanks!
