  1. Most folks are probably already aware, but the TBCA.org website provides some update info. Go here: http://tbca.org/2004%20Team%20Sunbelt%20Info.htm
  2. Again, Congrats to Kyle and his family!! I've known Kyle since he was a little boy and it's really cool to see a good young man achieve his goals and dreams. It will be fun to watch him progress.
  3. On another thread, mhusband31 says the current #1 still has games remaining. Does anyone know how many and in what context? Are they in the CA regional tournaments? Edit: After a little research, found this: http://www.unapproved website.com/FanPages/Sports/Ba...2A1579D}&ID=154 Chatsworth is still playing in the CA Regional tournaments. I don't fully understand their format, but they are scheduled to play tomorrow.
  4. For 2004, Farragut's season record: 46-2. The 2 losses were by 1 run each. In both games, the potential game-tying run was thrown out at the plate. Post-season record: 11-0 I know you didn't ask this, but the 2003 club finished 48-1, and #2 in final Baseball America rankings. That's 94 wins in the last 97 games, or .969 over the last 2 seasons. Not too bad.
  5. That's two years in a row for the Farragut Admirals in the Baseball America Top 5. The 2003 club finished #2 in the rankings, and this year's club stands at #2 currently. It will be interesting to see the placement when the final rankings are issued in June.
  6. HV -- Got a link to the District 3 bracket? I was told the same thing as AD25 heard last night. We were all a bit confused, but when I got home and drew up the bracket myownself, it made sense. Just hope that our Admirals show up on time, dressed, and ready to play at the appointed time on Friday. Every game has huge meaning at this point!!
  7. Biz, See my last edit. Nope, sorry... I'm not much help. I'll see what I can find out tonight.
  8. My understanding is 4pm and 6:30pm at the Ballpark at Farragut. FHS and Sevier Co. in the first game, and Maryville-West in the nightcap. Further, Saturday's games are currently scheduled for 10am and 12:30pm. If I can get further information (like a real bracket), I'll update this thread. I'm presuming West is the #5 seed, based on an earlier post.
  9. Sevier Co at Farragut rained out for today. I understand they are trying to reschedule for tomorrow 5pm at Farragut. That means the previously-scheduled FHS at Webb on Tuesday will be cancelled.
  10. Re-threading... 57. Your wife thinks your favorite song is "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy." 58. Your cell phone doesn't just *ring*.... it plays "Put Me In Coach" or "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." 59. You have to get JV or Little League players to mow your own yard at home.
  11. 43. Your vehicle carries fungos, buckets of baseballs, extra gloves, and a couple of pounds of ballyard dirt year-round. 44. You spend untold hours at work, doing "critical research" when you're actually looking at CoachT and HSBaseballweb.
  12. Reply to R2R: Thanks for the game report!! I called a couple of times to get a score, and could hear that notable voice in the background, from the BHS Skybox!! Thanks for the kind words on our Admirals. Having watched these kids grow up over the years, it's really fun to see them playing so well. Keep the faith in Bulldog-land!! Coach Buckner is a good coach, a good young man, and a good teacher. He will make the Dawgs winners, in time. He's coached my sons while at Farragut, and he's a good baseball man.
  13. Let's give the SportBelle tournament folks a chance to work things out, considering the late withdrawal due to the Blackman situation. Most HS baseball coaches just want to play a few games against quality competition. They look at these weekend tournaments as a chance to evaluate their team in pressure/tournament/out-of-town situations, looking toward post-season play. In fact, from past experience with this tournament, that's exactly what several coaches have told me. I'm sure the SportsBelle folks will take care of their guests, and ensure all games are played in some fashion. To be honest, I suspect the biggest worry is the weather today and Saturday.
  14. Congrats to all the Admirals with dingers last night. And especially to John Pigg with a Grand Salami!! What a great thing for a good young man!! Way to go, John!!
  15. HV -- I'm sure the standard fare will be available in the Skybox Tuesday!! Roasted peanuts and a soft drink!! However, the inimitable Concession Stand at the Ballpark at Farragut has all your heart could desire -- hot eats and cold, frosty, (soft-drink) beverages -- and more peanuts, candy, and popcorn. Stop in and sample the fare!! And pay us a visit in the 'box -- we'd love to see you!!
  16. Biz, Sorry I missed your post....Catapano took the mound for the Admirals and pitched a no-hitter into the 4th. From our vantage point, the strike zone was a bit difficult to hit for both pitchers, but the Admirals managed to hit enough to score. The runs came in bunches with Eldridge's 3 run homer and 2-run double, and Brown's grand slam to end the game in the 5th. Glad it ended early... it was COLD!!
  17. Bizazz is correct. Farragut hosts the Governors this evening at 5:30 in what will likely be a fairly chilly contest. Dress warmly!!
  18. That might be fun... I think I know who you are. I'll take a chance, and call who I think you are. I believe I may have coached your son "on the hill" back when they were 13.
  19. Thanks for the heads-up, Bizazz. That means I'll have to get my PA script ready today, for I'm taking off work tomorrow. It will be good to see how the Admirals stack up against quality District 4 competition. Any idea who will be on the mound for West? Look for me and Soupkitchen in the "skybox!!"
  20. Hate to read that Panthers-Admirals are rained out. Beaver Creek must have risen too high. It would have been good to see our old friends at Powell this evening.
  21. I have to agree with B5... From our vantage point in the "skybox," the towering Blue Raider fly ball bounced directly off the top of the wall back into left field. Even so, a monster blast. All in all, it was still a solid effort by both squads. The Blue Raiders suffered 4 errors. A couple led to some Admiral runs. If not for that fortunate-for-the-Admirals bounce, the 10-inning affair might have resulted in a 4-4 tie. A steady breeze straight in from center kept in few in the yard.
  22. All told, the Blue Raiders suffered 4 errors. A couple led to some Admiral runs. If not for a fortunate bounce off the left field wall on a towering Blue Raider fly ball, the 10-inning affair might have resulted in a 4-4 tie. A steady breeze straight in from center kept in few in the yard.
  23. HV: Good post and thanks for the kind words for this year's Diamond Admirals. We are thrilled to watch this bunch of kids play. They are very supportive of each other, and take each game on its own merits. We also look forward to Monday's Region 2 semifinal game and hope we can be the same type of hosts as you all were at Karns earlier in the season. Congratulations to the Karns Beavers on an excellent season and the opportunity to continue it beyond District play. Come see us in the "skybox!!"
  24. Is this the official word? Are the loser's bracket games still to be played at 5:30pm and 8:00pm?
