You never have given Letner his due Rigger. You keep making excuses to why he should be better than everybody else. I see it as your either a good wrestler or your not. The comp in the practice room does help to make you better, but so does the competition he has faced. And to say your not impressed by the fact he won both McCallie and Oviedo tournament than I hate to say that you have your head stuck in the sand. Reviez never competed in tourneys of this magnitude and I think if he was back again this year. Letner would have no problem with him. Rather it be defensive wrestling or not, its good wrestling and winning wrestling. Rather be 18-0 for the year, than be 12-6 and look pretty doing it. This is my opinion but you make every excuse to make Letner just more fortunate than everyone else because he is on Soddy's team sorry bud but we have champions from some schools that cannot even fill a lineup. Good luck this year Matt and the rest of the 215 class should be a war out there.

Well bud seems to me like you have all the answers to help our wrestling teams. Now my answer is bring it on down. Come to the McCallie Invitational one year. I'm sure that if you put a query in for it you would get the invite. I would love TN to wrestle some of the best out there. We would have some decent matches with a few of those. SD went to the tournament in Florida that was very good. Finished 4th with two of our very good wrestlers not even there. Easton is not one of the premiere teams this year so SD could have a very good chance to stay with them IMHO. Also we do have some very good wrestlers in college if you would open your eyes to some of the names. Jordan Leen, Matt Keller, Nick Marable, the Simpsons. These are just a few of a very nice list. I think we could very well stay with some of the teams up there not saying we beat them but very well stay with them. Truthfully I just don't like Yankees no matter how they wrestle I guess you prove my point thinking your better than we are down here. Go back to your board and tell them to come on down I know Steve Henry is not afraid to wrestle "the best." Good luck up there in your wrestling season we will do the same here. We have quite a few D1 NCAA signees.

I like your post Soms so keep it up seems besides giving your opinion on stuff you actually make posts about wrestling and not personal attacks on people. Also Soddy is making a good showing at a very good tournament and I would loved for Toney and Zimmerman to both be wrestling we could have finished 2nd or 3rd. Sorry but you both are boobs that are starting to sound like the people on Florida's wrestling board. Lets please not bring this board to that. Brandon has a long line of dodging the best to keep their string alive. Weeks ago they asked Easton to come to their dual tournament. Easton excepted the invite and when they came they found out that the tournament would go down to the finals in which the tournament would change to a individual tourney. They than stacked the tournament so that they would not wrestle Easton until the finals and than did not give very good seeds to the Easton kids in the individual. Easton did not know this was the way in which the tournament was set up because the info they were sent did not state it being this way. Brandon ended up winning the individual tourney because of the way in which the brackets were done. You can do online and take a look at them. One Brandon kid had three byes and garnered all those points.

Your wrong Ron Mexico. Lettner and Coffee did not wrestle last year at Brentwood tourney. The finals were Letner vs. Ian Meredith ND. Was 5-3 Meredith. Courtney was not there. So sorry but you need better info. Lettner beat Birman Cookeville by pin in the semis. I do not think they have ever wrestled not quite sure since Matt has been in the 215 class since 2005 at Brentwood when he won. I think it would be a very good match that I hope to see in the finals at state this year.

Yeah but when I wrestled in middle school we had quite a bit more time to wrestle and other states are the same way. Many parents are not able to sacrifice the extra time it takes to put a kid on the mat, when its much easier for there to be a 3 month middle school season like the old days. AAU and such can end up costing quite a bit in the long run as well as the travel time to wrestle in some of the better and bigger tourney. We have hamstrung the wrestlers in this state and put us behind many when it comes to middle school growth. JMHO

Yeah and also our middle school season lasted the last time I noticed only 6 weeks or so. Not very much time at all to get some good wrestling and experience in. Not sure how long the season is in Georgia for middle school but they killed it here in chattanooga at least. You do have the same problems with wrestling in Florida that you have with other states. I really do not think that there are 10 wrestlers in each weight that can win the tourney. I'm trying to get on down there to teach and coach. At their state last year 2a was a brandon runaway. But in 3a and 1a most all champions just like here were in top 2 to 3 seeds. We want even mention 2A because they are freakish. Another problem you have is their smallest schools can equal some of our biggest schools. Class 3a 2,262-4,742. 2A 2,261-1,667. 1A is 1,666 and below. Our biggest schools would be be no more than 2A most 1A. And the rich get richer the poorer get poor. Jacksonville has some really good wrestlers but if you don't go to Clay than your pretty much out of luck. Good state for wrestling but like most states the best are the best by far and the rest are just there.

Well you might see them against Oviedo in the next few weeks. TheIronman tourney down there is a dual I think one day and individual the next. Not completely sure maybe Rabbit can help me with this one. So you might see what TN can do with a team from Florida. Doug

I agree Matt and Meredith wrestled many times last year. To say Matt did not deserve to be where he was is very ignorant. Also how do you know that Frankie is better than Matt? Have they wrestled? Almost anyone can beat another on a given day. To bad your hot stuff Reviez isn't back this year. Maybe Coffee could have showed him how to really wrestle. If what was reported on here is true, it is sad that Coffee is not going to learn anything from his mistake, guess he will fit right in with College athletes nowadays. Guess we should have looked at the way Bradley handled a situation that seems to be alike. Schools like Cleveland, Soddy could have let these kids move right in to wrestle for them and did not so guess it also says something about Centennial. JMHO

I think that sending Tolbert to this tournament was good for both Danny and Tennessee. This is not a open tournament where anyone can go taking the whole team. Would have been nice if it was but it is prestigious for that very reason. Some of the best teams in the nation only had two or so wrestlers there. Danny showed that TN has some very good wrestlers here. He did not even win state last year and he had a good showing for TN He got beat by 2 wrestlers that placed very well in this tourney. And with the number of coaches there maybe it opened some eyes that Tn can hang with Ohio, Pa, Ca, and other great wrestling states. Good press is always the best way to get attention to the state of wrestling in TN. Remember that wrestling is only half a team sport. You cannot take your whole team to college with you to wrestle. I love the team sport I wrestled for Soddy but I was on the mat to prove I was the better wrestler. In my case most of the time I was not. But some of these kids could never afford to wrestle in college without this Sport. Lastly you guys need to grow up. I do not come on this site to see middle aged man pick silly fights with each other. We do not need whos what is bigger than whose. Coem on guys lets get back to what this board is for WRESTLING!!! Yeah I wasn't to happy when the video and sound went out after a few of the matches, but hey can't complain or I would not have seen any of them. First time out for wrestling and you did very good on the matches I have watched so far. Again a big thanks from me. hummm i think Lamar has I know of at least one ring. From 2003, I also think he was helping when Soddy Daisy won in 1999 and 2000 so staying at Red Bank to win a ring would not make much since. Soddy has won 3 in the past 7 years and has a very good chance of doing that again this year and the next. They also have at least one runner-up within the past 7 years so 3 state champs and 1 runner up in seven years is a good record. Clifford is very hard on his girls, but he puts MANY of those same girls into college because he knows how to coach. Look at his results and tell me you would not want to give your daughter the best chance of winning a state championship and going to college on a scholarship. He helps girls fulfill their dreams so im sorry if he asks the best of them. Play hard and play for fun but if you don't at least give your best when you step out on the field you would have been better not to have shown up at all. Sorry but i think Clifford's record speaks for itself.

So i dont know what I'm talking about huh? I wrestled for Soddy and made it very far at the state tourney. I also help coach including 171-275. Let me tell you I have seen some of the best Antonio Boyd he started wrestling in high school also Anthony Evans, Will Bartholomew, Carlos Thompson all these would have pinned Nick sorry but its true. I have also watched the best from Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina. Nick better hope to get a football scholarship this year because wrestling is not his future. Also Letner is only a Junior this year so he has a very good chance of winning his next year. But Nick is not Antonio Boyd, or any of the others i stated above. Nick is a good wrestler but not fantastic, and with you as a fan its a shame that maybe he will not get his due of being a good wrestler. Some people on here say stupid things and you have said many. Every year just like Teerod said Bradley has won the traditional state for 12 years and they were given help just like every other state championship team, Thats a fact. The state is when wrestlers have to step up and perform to the best of their abilities and Soddy did that, with or without the help Soddy won and thats also a fact. So please before you stick your foot in your huge mouth please think. All you had to say is Soddy congrats for your state championship! Master, I would love to be able to sit back and just watch you type some of the dumbest comments on this board but i just couldnt take it. Soddy beat Bradley once this year in duals just as Bradley beat Soddy once. Let me just say the Reveiz-Letner match almost put me to sleep. Reveiz did not do a THING NOT ONE. I wrote down how many shots each wrestler took and i had Reveiz only taking 2 real shots during a 6 minute match. Letner took more than 7 REAL shots. not the just let me reach for your leg shots but real shots. luckly hes the best 215 in the state D1 because he could not beat Coffey in D2 and I say that sincerely because I do not like D2 wrestling but Nick could not beat Coffee. And do not tell me i have not watched Nick wrestle enough because i watched him at the Soddy tourney and the state and he is not very impressive. And I hate to take anything away from Nick he is now a 2 time state champ but you make him and the rest of the Farragut fans seem like idiots. I apologize to the Farragut fans on here but please have a talk with this guy and try to keep him on his medication. Also Soddy won this tournament with hard work and guts. You said that if Bradley had won all their finals matches that we would not have this conversation, the same could be said about letner, Winesburgh losing in OT to Holliman in the semis, Toney being on the same side as Felix with Scott getting pinned but Toney only losing 11-4. Also Mikey Fuller in the same half the bracket as three defending place winners and 4 ranked wrestlers out of 8 wrestlers. those points would have put Soddy even farther ahead. This is how the individual tourney works. Its the facts and Now SODDY DAISY IS THE 2006 individual state champions. Congrats to all the guys from soddy who placed and to the champs Ryan and Tyler.

yes we all pay taxes like they say, "one thing is certain death and taxes." The one big difference is you send your kids to a private school and pay for their education you can get some money back from your taxes, ask HR block they can help you. A kid that goes to public school is using the taxes that everyone else pays including their parents, grandparents etc, so no extra taxes are given back. If you are able to get a scholarship with a private school good for you you skip paying 10 plus a year for a high school education. I sat at both sides of this when a I had a chance for "financial aid" with a chattanooga private school. Going to a private school does not mean you have to pay to go there, many of those students go there for nothing to little of nothing. So dont tell me public schools and private schools are the same. I also teach and have been in both public and private there is a BIG diference between the haves and have nots.

I hate to say it but McCallie beat Soddy. Also Soddy and Bradley are about the exact same if you were to wrestle the teams straight up. It stinks to lose a match because you loose the flip. Soddy won the flip at Soddy won the match pretty easy. Bradley wins the match at clarksville and wins. I wished you had to dance with what brought you there and wrestle what you have had all year. under appreciated give me a break thats a joke right? Baylor has never been under appreciated in the paper, heck most of the times the private schools seem to be the Only schools that wrestle. Your match although very intriguing with McCallie will have like a page and a half with pics and two articles. Like tiller said we beat Bradley and barely had anything in the paper about the match. Baylor has articles in the paper with every sport. If you had underwater basketweaving competively they would cover that. First, yes the Manson-Buchanan was a very close match, Manson was even on his back counting lights for a little so yes he was having some difficulty. Towney winning was somewhat chance heck Ive been watching wrestling for years and havent even heard his name till he was in the finals. Also the article did not mention that we were without a heavyweight altogether and even though heavy was very tough he could have won at least a match or two. Also finish a tri-meet after 11:00 and try to be at a gym to wrestle at 7 in the morning, would be hard in any sport much less wrestling. The tournament was very good and Baylor wrestled very tough and won, Soddy did the same, but to say Baylor is under appreciated is a crock. Lets just have a section dedicated to you guys Im sure you can afford it and maybe you will be happy. I was also at the tournament and watched the matches. hey patt, the guy from walker valley is the same johnson that wrestled for bradley last year at 112 he finished 5th in the state. he just transferred to walker valley this year. He is very good.

redboy you just never learn, First rankings mean nothing, the only thing that matters is that you are wearing that ring at the end of the year. Bradley has many of those and wrestles very very good competition every year. their coach knows how to prepare his team, just like Baylor and Notre Dame do. I promise there are many years that i could pair up Bradley versus Baylor and they would have whipped your team, the same with Baylor on some years. The thing that matters is that there are now two divisions and you have to be ready for YOUR respective division. I mean Redboy how many D1 wrestlers do you have out from your school? not many that i know of. Bradley has quite a few Matt Keller, Blackmon bros, just to name a few. also 7 championships since 94, Baylor has 3. I mean his standard seems to work very well. He also wrestles teams in that Virginia tournament that would make your tournaments look like a middle school tourney. Each coach has their own right to pick who they schedule for the best of their team. I am a Soddy grad and really dont like bradley very much but we wrestle Baylor every year and what has that gotten us? One state championship. And just to compare there have been years we have beaten you and than get killed by Bradley. so get over it there are now two divisions. Also with a example like oklahoma State my example shows that not everyone gets a shot to wrestle them although they are the best for some teams its just not realistic. UTC didnt schedule them this year so you better call coach Seay and tell him they are not wrestling the best competition out there. Also about Baylor and McCallie not giving scholarships, they don't, its called financial aid which sometimes seems to go to some very good athletes. So call it what you want but if you cannot afford these two schools but are very athletic i promise they will find a way to get you to their school. later DB
