Game day...Go Warriors!! I've been a little out of touch but where did all the Riverdale fans go?

I'm picking Riverdale 22, Bearden 14

The winner of this one qualifies for a second round game that will show whether they belong in the playoffs. Riverdale is coming off its most disappointing performance under Coach K. Can they rebound or will they go gently into that good night? Will the senior leadership finally emerge? Here's hoping the good guys regroup and play with passion Friday night.

Don't need to worry about the season, or the playoffs, or awards, or anything that resembles looking back or looking forward. Just focus on this game...it's important. We can start looking at how 'good' of a season it was in a month or so, give or take a week or two.

I looked at the other computer rankings from out west and they look more accurate. I thought they had Riverdale a little low at 36 but at 5-4 maybe that's about right.

About 36 hours till the final game of the regular season kicks off.

Agree...my big concern is will Riverdale be focused and ready. Crossville worries me too...are they ganging up on us?

Really big game for Riverdale. Sure both teams would love to finish the regular season on a winning note and Cookeville is always tough at home. Riverdale needs to put Smyrna behind them and get ready for another tough game Friday night.

Oakland may need a bigger scoreboard.

That's quite a lot riding on this game. Should be a great game.

Maybe look at other region configurations with the number of playoff teams being based on the number of teams in the region. Total still equals 32. Would need to look at that a bit but a 9 team Memphis region could have 5-6 playoff qualifiers. Not sure how you set up the playoffs. Curious if teams are going to be allowed to move up. Would like to see traditional teams like Gallatin, Franklin, Oak Ridge, among others in 6A.

Didn't Blackman beat Riverdale by about 40 points last year? I think it will be closer this time but Riverdale's about as inconsistent as a team can be. If the good Riverdale shows up and plays for 40 minutes it will be a competitive game. If not, probably 3-4 touchdowns. Really miss the days when Riverdale just did not lose at home.

Need some updates on injuries and who's going to be ready to play this week for the Warriors.

Riverdale looked as bad as I've ever seen them look against Franklin last year. Hopefully coach makes them all set down and watch it again. I expect Riverdale to come out with a high RBF but they will probably need that and another outstanding performance from the defense to even have a chance in this one.

Great job Warriors!! Team really came to play and played well. Need to get better every practice cause it gets tougher from here.

Agree...it takes a long time to correct things from the level of neglect the program has experienced. Expect to go through all four phases of program recovery. Lose big, lose close, win close, and win big. A great, great, great season would be to make our way to the 3rd phase this year. A great season would be to see the team improve every week and play their best football in the playoffs. Long time since Riverdale played their best football in the playoffs.

Good post. Sums things up pretty well. Some things take time but a little disappointed that the kicking situation wasn't immediately addressed. For a team relying on defense kicking is really important.

Was it you that picked Riverdale 3rd in the state?

Let's face it, this is a new team with a new coaching staff and a new system. There was some hope that the defense could keep the team in games early in the year but they didn't look like that kind of group in the jamboree. Riverdale will play with excitement but, for whatever reason, they have not been able to put all the pieces together this fall. Offense is a work in progress, defense hasn't come together as well as expected, and special teams are...being kind...just not special yet. Sadly... Owls 28, Warriors 7.

Is he officially going on staff at Oakland?
