  1. So, that's up just by the interstate. Hope I can get there early enough to eat at J&G. Really like that place. I'm guessing it's pretty busy before games? Look forward to the game as I've never been to that stadium before.
  2. Edge to Riverdale for facing tougher competition. Where is the game played?
  3. Sounds like a good win for Riverdale and one they really needed. Strange to see Riverdale win a game with special teams. Didn't get to see this one as I was out of town. I did get to see the Naples Gulf Coast Sharks take out the Miami Monsignor-Pace Spartans in a defensive struggle. Plan to make the trip to Manchester next week and see how they look now.
  4. If some of the hurt guys are getting back that adds some suspense. Noticed that the big super computer in the sky had Hillsboro as a 14 point favorite. Really something I never though I'd see in my lifetime.
  5. Perhaps the SID could shed some light on the number of college players under the two coaches. I maintain that Rankin left the team fully loaded when he left. Excellent talent, especially on the lines. Rankin seldom had a lot of D1 stars around. There were a few. He did have a very well prepared and coached football team.
  6. Rankin left Aydelott a team loaded with numbers and talent. One of the early Aydelott years I think all five starting OL went on the the next level (If I recall, 3 of those went D1). The players have just left the program and what's left is managed through some kind of caste system that doesn't put performance first. Hardtackle, for the third time I'll ask...what was your impression of these games based on what you saw at the games?
  7. Per the DNJ, Owens was reinstated for Friday's game by the TSSAA. That's pretty big for Riverdale.
  8. It really takes at least three games to get an accurate read on a team. Both teams should be ready to play. A couple weeks ago I would definitely have been picking Riverdale. Last week both teams had surprising outings and now Blackman looks like a much better team. Have to think about this one for a while. When does Riverdale get their RB back?
  9. Hardtackle, what were your observations from Friday night based on what you saw?
  10. Really not much to say except that Franklin was far better prepared than Riverdale. The Rebs were just more physical, more disciplined, and just way better coached. Well coached smart kids win again. Just can't describe how disappointed I am in Riverdale's lack of discipline. Whenever I think Riverdale has reached it's lowest point under Aydelott I soon learn that it can indeed get worse. Really an embarrassment for all of Rutherford county to have a team melt down like that. Kudos to the officials for keeping things in check as well as they did. Man, Franklin's lines just whipped Riverdale unmercifully all night long. I'm just too numb to type anything more. Can't believe what I just saw.
  11. Tough one. Franklin's D-line was a bright spot and Riverdale's O-line performance has been questionable. That could be an equalizer and lead to the close one that warhawks has predicted.
  12. Think they need to take it one week at a time, use every game and every practice as an opportunity to improve, and see if they can live up to that ranking by year's end. What does Franklin's d-line look like?
  13. BA/Trinity, that might be a good game to see Friday night.
  14. I'll be surprised if this isn't a low scoring affair. 14-10 or 10-9 or something like that.
  15. I'd say that based on the jamboree and this first game that it's definitely valid to wonder how successful these coaches will be. Too early to judge but definitely a basis to have concern.
  16. Don't think you can get people to come out for 'mediocre Kentucky team' to play 'mediocre Rutherford County team'. I went to the game Saturday night to see Hoover and C-C, not Oakland and Blackman. But yes, I think we need those kinds of teams to come in and play Maryville, MBA, Whitehaven, others, or Rutherford County schools. We just need to do a better job of finding schools that will be at the top of their game. Blackman, especially, wasn't a good choice. Oakland played pretty well and definitely didn't embarrass themselves.
  17. Kids don't care about football any more as they have other things to do. There must something weird and unnatural going on at Oakland, Siegel, and Blackman for them to have all those players. Perhaps an investigation is in order.
  18. Yeah, Blackman seems to have really slipped. Wonder about the coaching there. There was a point in the game where Blackman seemed to be getting some momentum and the coach calls a trick play. Fumble, turnover, and any momentum lost. Was there anyone in the stadium that didn't know something was up when Blackman put two guys back to receive the punt? C-C hadn't been kicking away from the receiver and Blackman hadn't been putting two guys back. C-C could beat just abut anybody so this didn't really matter. Just wonder what the thought process was since the trick play was in no way set up by previous events.
  19. Riverdale brings an improving defense. Looks like Franklin struggled offensively in their opener. Teams improve the most between the first and second games. What happens in this one?
  20. So, Riverdale was without their #1 RB. Wonder how much of an effect that had.
  21. Ensworth, Blackman, and Oakland will exit that list. If there's nine teams better than Clay-ChalkvilleI'd like to see them.
  22. Didn't know any of that. With all the new faces they have that explains the lack of polish.
