  1. Could this thread be any less about basketball at this point???? They had horrible fans, who cares every school has them??? Focus on what really matters like....what about the way both of these teams benches played a midst the horrible officiating????What about the way both teams played with many of their players in foul trouble??? What about the way both teams shot well from the free throw line to make this a very entertaining sub-state game, a game that was played the way basketball was meant to be played, with passion and pride. What about the way a group of freshmen helped win a sub-state game???? What about Livingston coming back from a big-time deficit, which is hard to do in girls basketball????? Who cares about the way fans acted or what they said, it had no bearing on what really mattered and that was the game. It is times like these that they should throw everyone out of the gym and just let the players and coaches play in an empty gym. Everyone on here I would assume is a basketball fan, and if you are caught up in the way fans were acting then you missed a heck of a ball game. And this post is coming from a Livingston Academy fan.
  2. Richard Melton holds the boys record, and he was a pretty good player, only selfish when he needed to be (don't forget Jimmy Miller)......Beech is probably the best "all-around" player at LA. However, she is probably the 3rd or 4th best "pure scorer" behind Sunday Watson, Amy Brown, and maybe even Leslie Smith. But Katrina has the ability to take a game over like none of the others had. So she is probably the best to play at LA.

    7-AA

JC is good no doubt about that, but the one time they beat LA by 2 LA blew a double digit lead in the second half (maybe the 4th quarter) is what I heard. Anytime you beat all 3 state champs in one year that is an accomplishment especially with Rick Insell and Lamar Rogers coaching 2 of those teams.........But I said this in a post before, JC before I think 7 or 8 years ago was not a very good ball team.......4 straight is good, but the Bulls won 6 in 8 years and see what they are now LOL just kidding....Brown will have them back, but just go back about 7 or 8 years and you will see a TOTALLY different program than is there now
  4. oh yeah I think MTSU has at least 3 concession stands, Papa Johns, and other eatery places....Tech has ZERO
  5. Yes I have....I didn't miss a Tech Men's game this year, and only one last year.....as for the Tech Concession stands, I don't think they open 2 of them at all, parking would be closer only because the campus is about half the size of MTSU, I don't know about the women's locker rooms, but the men's visitor locker rooms would snugly fit 3-4 people but the home locker room is very spacious.....I would love to see the Hoop and TTU hold the State tournament but I think it would be a REALLY bad idea....Also, what would happen on the week that Tech was in school at the same time as the tournament, I could park in Baxter and walk to the game.
  6. The Hoop would be a HORRIBLE place for a state tournament......VERY little dressing room accomodations, no decent concessions, no room in the lobby area to accomodate all the people, Worse parking than MTSU, and lot worse campus as far as looks on that end of campus. I don't think the Hoop has EVER served its full purpose since it was built, and if you lowered the seat number about 2000 seats then that arena would be great for any baskeball. But, I think it would be the worst idea that TSSAA could come up with. If the state tournament should go anywhere other than Murphy Center then it should go to Memorial Gym at Vandy.
  7. There is NO doubt the Rick Insell and Lamar Rogers are the best in the state....you can pick the top one if you want, but I would give the edge to Lamar because he hasn't won with the Tiffany Woosley's, the Conswella Sparrow's, and the NUMEROUS other All-Americans that Insell has.....They are no doubt the best coaches in the state, but Jim Brown, GC's Coach, and Lynne Burkey are all excellent coaches. Also, I have a question about Leslie Smith at LA.....Did she take Farragut to a State Tournament? I know she took Oneida and now LA to State Tournaments, but I couldn't remember about Farragut. If she did take Farragut then she has taken all 3 of those school, and at least 2 out of those 3 to the tournament so she would have to be up there due to that fact alone. I am not saying she is the best, but when you take at least 2 of your first 3 coaching jobs to the State Tournament at 2 different classifications that makes you a pretty darn good coach in my opinion. Lamar Rogers (VP) and Rick Insell for President in '08
  8. I agree with most every post on this thread, 7AA is probably the best district in the state any class and the best ball is played in the Upper Cumberland area...But also Gibson chose the EXACT WRONG TIME NOT TO PLAY GOOD, but was it because they played or was it because LA forced them to play bad? You can't "stink" and make it to the State Tournament I don't care who you are, but you have to admit also that 7AA top to bottom is the best district in the state. I make a proposal that we make one big SUPER District and let LA, JC, GC, Smith, York, McMinn, Seymour, OS, David Lipscomb, Hume Fogg, Cheatham County, and one more to make 12 and divide those 12 into to Sections East and West and let them play all together and then we will have a final four at the end of the year to find a champ. Sound Good? HAHA the sad thing is that realignment will might take JC and Upperman out of 7AA and make them A.....which would change things alot....But Great State Tournment for everybody and Congrats to LA, Clarkrange, and even Shelbyville HAHA (Kinda sounds like old times saying those three teams together)
  9. I could not believe that LA did that to OS.....I know OS had a really good guard in Hall, and you can't stink to make it to the State Semifinals. What happend? Did LA just play lights out or did OS play bad? LA vs. Mcminn should be a great game, but the other two games that LA played were supposed to be good as well and we see what happend with that HAHA.....good luck to all the girls and congrats to both LA and Mcminn on making it this far.......I just can't believe that LA beat OS....OS is still a solid team with solid players......Roll Tide HAHAHA
  10. I love it HAHAHAHAHA.....I love how people (some of whom have never met) are getting so upset over something that is supposed to be fun and exciting.....Yes GC was 34-0 and that is great, every team wants to be 34-0, but please don't say that LA fans are classless and cocky. The LA fans are no more classless or cocky than any other fans of successful teams.....And if you tell me that you would not gloat if you had just beaten the number 1 team and only undefeated team in the state by 15 at the State Tournament, then you are CRAZY.....Also, we are not the ones playing, the girls are, for most of us there is a reason for that HAHA, so lets enjoy the best exhibition of girls high school basketball in the country and whoever wins CONGRATULATIONS p.s. This is for fun people don't get so uptight and pissy, if you do take this seriously or personally then GROW UP
  11. HAHAHAHA good post GeorgeC I like that
  12. I will give JC some credit back in the 70's I think they had some really good ball teams and I think they won 3 or 4 championships in that era, so JC wasn't always a sub-par team, just the 1980's and early part of the nineties.....Also, I think GC has been there alot and also, you get into some smaller schools like Gleason, Bradford, Clarkrange, Celina, and bigger schools like Shelbyville (who is gonna argue with Rick Insell titles) they have been there jsut as much as LA if not more......I will have to go with LA by 4 in a GREAT ball game tommorrow but you can't stink and make it to the state tournament so I am sure GC has an excellent ball team.
  13. I agree with the person that says the Cookeville High are the only bad/classless fans in this area......In addition I am a HUGE Duke fan, so I think that EVERY crowd needs to be like the Duke Students and stand up and cheer the ENTIRE game especially in the Sub-State and State. Each game at the State should pack the Murph like Shelbyville and those people do...THis is probably the BEST composition of girls b-ball in the country and ALL fans should treat it this way
  14. the best I can remember up until about 6 or 7 years ago Jackson County wouldn't have even thought about making the Region Tournament much less the State....I will grant them that they have had a good run, but please don't all of a sudden think that a 5 year is the greatest thing since sliced bread......LA made it to EVERY state tournament in the 90's and WON 3,except 1991 which the lost in the sub-state to one of the best girls teams I have ever seen at Meigs Co.......LA I think made the sectionals or sub-state every year in the last 4 I think....Also, every town has their classless people but one bad apple doesn't ruin the barrel.
