Any definitive word yet on where the game will be played?

Subject to being revised before Friday arrives but my early prediction would be that the quarter-finals will look like this: Sullivan South Rebels (11-1) v. Morristown West Trojans (12-0) Maryville Rebels (12-0) v. Red Bank Lions (12-0) Hillsboro Burros (12-0) v. Springfield Yellow Jackets (12-0) and Munford Cougars (9-3) v. Melrose Wildcats (11-1)

If West wins, quarter-final is home game for West, regardless. If East and TN High win, home game for TN High. If South and TN High win, home game for South.

How is the field at Burke-Toney after the East/Johnson Co. game? Rain is predicted for tomorrow and Wednesday but sunny the rest of the week.

Safe trip to all Blue Devil fans coming down to Carson-Newman tomorrow night. If you have never been to Burke-Tarr stadium or if you haven't been there for a while, you'll going to be in for a treat. The stadium was rebuilt from the ground up so it's brand-spanking new and is a great facility to watch a football game. more useless trivia - Tomorrow night will mark the first playoff appearance for Unicoi County since 1994. The Blue Devils have played in a total of 7 playoff games and have a record of 2 wins and 5 losses. Directions to C-N - One convenient way to get to C-N is to ramp off I-81 at exit 12; turn right onto Hwy. 160 North; continue on Hwy. 160 to the traffic light at the intersection of US 11-E; turn left onto 11-E; continue on 11-E into Jefferson County; as you crest the hill on 11-E going into Jefferson City, you will see the stadium lights on your right; continue on 11-E into and almost thru Jefferson City; turn right onto Russell Street at the traffic light at McDonalds; this street will take you straight onto the campus and you will be able to see the stadium on your right

Will tomorrow night be the first time that Mo-West has played Unicoi County in football? If not, how many games have been played between the Trojans and Blue Devils and what is the series record?

Question for any Mo-East and/or Johnson County 'historian' ..... will tomorrow night be the first time that the 'Canes and 'Horns have met in football? If not, how many times have they played before and what is the series record?

Assuming that Mo-East, Mo-West, South, and TN High win this week, the 2nd round match-ups look to be one of the best that we've seen in northeast TN in quite a while. The only 2nd round that I can remember coming close to these was in 2002 when Greeneville (10-1) was at TN High (10-1) and Elizabethton (8-3) was at Mo-West (10-1). Opinions?

No...I think that both the #1 and #2 seeds come out on top in the first round.

Let's see...in 2004, an undefeated TN High team that was averaging almost 45 ppg and had not scored less than 35 points all year long was held to 17 points by what was probably the worst West team in a decade. I'm not sure I'd be bragging too much about that performance from the Vikes.

The cost of playing at C-N along with the cut that the TSSAA takes from the gate receipts may prove to be prohibitive. Anyway, the weather forecast for Thursday and Friday is clear and sunny with the highs in the 50s. Hopefully, that can dry the field from the rains tonight and on Wednesday.

I watched the Volunteer - Morristown West game earlier this season and was very impressed as to the determination and heart the whole Falcon team showed that night. I think the Viking faithful will be as impressed, also, as they watch Volunteer. With that said, though, I just think that Tennessee will bring more than Volunteer can handle on Friday night. Tennessee to win by 17 and move on to the 2nd round.
