  1. Traditions and rivalry games are what makes prep and college football so great and Boone v. Crockett certainly fills the bill. In my opinion, Crockett's defense is still questionable so I think Boone will win by 14. But good luck to both teams.
  2. That's tough; especially at this point in the season for the remaining players, coaching staff, parents, and fans. Except for last week, the Devils always seemed to hang tough with everyone and I know that the loss to Cherokee was a heartbreaker. If they could have won that game, the Devils would be 3-2 in region play and have an excellent shot at the playoffs albeit for one of the lower slots. Regardless, a very good 'Cane team comes in tomorrow night. East is probably playing as well as anyone in the conference right now. Good luck for the rest of the season.
  3. If G-vegas has Greenway or not, it won't make any difference. East is going to win this game and claim 2nd slot for the playoffs. The real question that needs to be asked is: What arrangements will be made for West & East in 3 weeks when the 1st round games start?
  4. For this year, to make the playoffs they will have to win their remaining 2 games with East and Crockett. No first string QB = no chance.
  5. What is going to happen with the area where Sherwood Park used to be? Are they going to build another baseball park for the Canes? If not, what if they converted that area to serve as a field for soccer, middle-school football, etc.? Just a thought.
  6. NOAA predicts 80% chance of showers throughout tomorrow and 20% up to 2 p.m. Friday. That field will be sloppy again.
  7. Good post, lee. I guess that's why the games have to be played.
  8. 4 and 3 will get you into the playoffs but you have to win out over Cocke Co. and the Chiefs. How 'bout it, Falcons, what are the odds of making it ..... sure thing, good, fair, maybe, no way?
  9. I don't have a dog in this hunt but, while the wins over North and Elizabethton were great for the Devils, I just think that East has played a more consistent brand of football this year. Good luck to both programs but I'll say the Patriots by a TD.
  10. Not many people gave the '03 Trojans a chance either but it happened. But to answer your question, some schools can match Maryville with talent or warm bodies but where the Rebel program differentiates itself from most other programs, in my opinion, is in the technical aspects of the game which is very hard to counter. They play very disciplined and, mostly, mistake-free football so to combat that the opponent must play likewise. That game, if it occurs, is still over a month away, though, and I know that Coach Woods and the staff are only concentrating on Cherokee. One night, one team, all focused ... ROLL TROJANS
  11. To make the playoffs, Greeneville has to win out against East and Crockett. Unfortunately, they just don't have the personnel this year to extend their season. East's O looks to have found a good rhythm in the last 2 weeks and I don't think that the Devel D can stop them. Canes by 20.
  12. All of this could have been avoided if the city/county had kept its 'promise' to build a stadium at the same time West was built.
  13. They gave the discount to the Hamblen County school system not East High. But the field will serve as a sales model for this and surrounding areas.
  14. For whatever reason, the Chiefs always seem to play West tough but I just can't see the Trojans losing this one. I'll say West by 17 points. ROLL TROJANS
  15. Here’s the possible resulting rankings after tonight’s games in the Five Rivers conference (assuming that I can add and subtract properly)…. 1. if Boone, Cherokee, and Greeneville win, then West is 1st, Boone, is 2nd, Cherokee is 3rd, and East & Greeneville tie for 4th; 2. if Boone, East, and Greeneville win, then West is 1st, Boone and East tie for 2nd, and Cherokee is 4th 3. if Cherokee, Greeneville, and Volunteer win, then West and Cherokee tie for 1st and Boone and East tie for 3rd 4. if East, Greeneville, and Volunteer win, then West is 1st, East is 2nd, Boone is 3rd, and Cherokee is 4th 5. if Boone, Cherokee, and West win, then West is 1st, Boone is 2nd, Cherokee is 3rd, and East is 4th 6. if Cherokee, Volunteer, and West win, then West is 1st, Cherokee is 2nd, and Boone and East tie for 3rd Getting ready to head home and prepare to go to the game. Thermals, gloves, blankets, and plenty of <insert your beverage of choice> are going to be called for tonight. Here's wishing a safe trip for all the Greene Devil fans coming down. Looking forward to seeing the G-vegas band again, too. I just wish you'all would learn and and play 'Yea, Bama'! See ya on the flip side!! ROLL TROJANS
  16. 4 wins in the region should get you the 4th slot meaning that the Falcons would play at the #1 seed from region 1 (probably Sullivan South) in the first round of the playoffs. Awfully tough mountain to climb but good luck!
  17. Tell you what ... I'll accept your prediction but I want you to tell me how the Devils defense will hold West to 13 points.
  18. On paper, probably not. But games aren't played on paper anyway. Except on CoachT!
  19. Six undefeated teams left in class 4A leading up to tonight's action. Other than Maryville, who has the best chance of being dropped off the list after tonight? region 2 - Morristown West (7-0,4-0) hosts Greeneville (4-3,2-2) region 3 - Maryville (8-0,5-0) open date region 4 - Red Bank (7-0,4-0) hosts Rhea County (5-2,4-0) region 5 - Hillsboro (7-0,4-0) hosts Maplewood (7-0,4-0) region 6 - Springfield (7-0,4-0) hosts Portland (2-5,1-3)
  20. Useless trivia regarding Greeneville and West … 1. since 1975, the Devils and Trojans have played 33 games; West holds the series lead at 21-11-1 (the tie occurred in 1976 with the score ending up 6-6) 2. Greeneville’s longest winning streak against West is 4 games occurring between 1990 and 1993 3. Greeneville’s largest margin of victory is 22 points; 52-30 in 1998 4. West’s longest winning streak against Greeneville is 6 games occurring between 2001 and 2003 5. West’s largest margin of victory is 48 points; 48-0 in 2005 6. the least number of points scored by both teams in a single game is 3; in 1978, Greeneville 3 - West 0 7. the most number of points scored by both teams in a single game is 87; in 2002, West 45 – Greeneville 42
  21. Hard to believe that no one is talking about this game very much.
  22. Whoa, there, Sparky. Put the chalupa down! We'll worry about Dobyns-Bennett and Bearden when we move to 5A; Maryville and Tennessee High in the playoffs, Alcoa in the Twilight Zone; and Greeneville on Friday.
  23. '01 was the first time West defeated Maryville (it was the Reb's homecoming just a few days after 9/11). The second defeat for the Rebs was in the semifinal game in 2003.
