  1. Davis will be let go within the next couple of weeks and a search will ensue. Two years is nowhere near enough time to build a program. But it's obvious no matter what the time frame, this guy won't work.
  2. The principal told him 5-5 or else. He had a full offseason last year. Franklin county didn't have it's stud and lost 4 of five to close the season. Of course you need more time to put a stamp on the program. But a close look shows this isn't a getting worse before getting better, it's getting worse before getting even worse. No work ethic. Too much talk. Asking for the mercy rule against riverdale only trailing 21 to try to curve the final score, field house is a pig sty, no discipline. Those things are easily implemented in two years. The offense is his bread and butter and it was miserable this year. He isn't ready. Coffee county has never lost to warren county and white county in the same year. EVER.
  3. Don't be surprised if Davis is gone in the next few days /weeks. And I wouldn't be shocked to see the principal and athletic director soon to follow. Doubtful either one influences this decision. Coffee county football is in the worst shape ive seen it in since the late 80s-early 90s. Hard to have much confidence in the administration at this point. especially after the baseball debacle.
  4. I was around the program a few years back and I still go back from time to time - coach jones is one of the very few bright spots the chs athletic department can be proud of. I have heard about the drama. But I've also seen the source of the drama - and being around the sports scene I can tell you - these are some of the worst, most selfish parents that can be had in the upper classes. And I wouldnt put a lot of stock into what they say. especially considering these folks didn't have a problem, or vocally have one, best I can tell until their kids quit the team. Coach jones is a guy who will always do what he can to help a kid. He is usually too generous with the opportunities given to players who probably do not deserve them but he cares. He loves baseball and it shows in his dedication - hours and hours of summer work and off season work. He can be found workin on the field after hours, all by himself during the fall. I was proud to have been part of the program and am proud to call coach jones a friend. Manchester needs to realize it has a winner. Unlike some other sports. And not just a win-loss winner, they have a winner for a head coach. If you ask other coaches at top notch programs you will hear plenty of praise and respect. And if you ask 99% of his former players you will hear the same things. As is the norm some people have gotten bent outta shape because he doesn't bend to politics or play a kid just because their parents do certain things in the community. When people say they just want someone to be fair: well they have one. I fear a lot Of people just say that and care more about who is playing. Let's not forget that this is a coach who has won 220- ish games, sent several players to college and won someting like 6 district championships in 11 years. Four of those in the old district 8-aaa and it was tough over there. A region title and a state Berth came a few years ago. In 2004 they won both the regular season and the tournament titles for the first time in the same year since the 70s. And i think it was 2003 when he took the team to 9-3 in 8-aaa and won the regular season title a year after going 0-12. I think he could walk away and it's safe to say that success on the baseball field would not be repeated here for a long, long time! Good luck, coach. And I sure hope Manchester keeps some credibility by keeping coach jones.
  5. I don't think that was the same district in the 70's and 80's. They had one good year in the 90's and that was 98. No team has been to the region half as many times as Columbia since 98. To me, that is dominant. Not one year hear and one year there. Yea, Columbia has been one of the better teams in the district. From 98, and really 97 if you want to go back a year, Coffee County and Columbia represented the district in the region more often than anyone else. I'm not sure of the Columbia years. But I'm pretty sure Coffee was there in 97, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2009. I know Columbia was in there with them in 2004 for sure, right? But with Coffee gone, it opens the district up quite a bit more.
  6. Sure did. http://manchestertimes.com/news/index.asp
  7. Hit the nail on the head. I have a few reliable sources in Tullahoma that have informed me that John Olive and Kevin Bowles have been talking about this. I would venture to say this will not go away without more being said. What are the transfer rules since he started practice with Coffee Central?
  8. haha yea....get ready for that Wing-T.....hope Smyrna didn't spend all week preparing for just that
  9. Smyrna better be careful. The Raiders are a snake lying in the weeds and they could very easily jump up and bight the Bulldogs. The Raiders have played good quarters and halves all year long. If they happen to put together a full game tomorrow night, we could be talking about a huge upset on Saturday morning. I'll take the Raiders 20-10.
  10. Maybe Coffee County could win if Jake Nunley was in the backfield....wait a minute...they played Smyrna with Jake Nunley and lost 35-7....I just don't see the Raiders having a chance....but they might you never know! Graham will have to have a phenominal night!
  11. Magourik, Gonzalez and who is the other? Magourik even when healthy is extremely inconsistent. He will give you 20 one night and 4 the next, and that could be against the exact same opponent! And from what I understand he has a bum shoulder, so he will be even more inconsistent. Gonzalez isn't a basketball player. He is very uncoordinated, therefore his 6'11 frame won't help him much if he can't even catch the ball. The Raiders will finish dead last in this district. Nothing against the kids that are playing, but they just don't have the talent to compete!
  12. Yes you are right. On defense, the ones that have been playing are doing great. So great in fact, they are giving up 30 points per game. Shoot with that kind of defense just go ahead and pencil them in for the Blue Cross Bowl! Ha get real. The Raiders are decent when healthy, they have no depth at all. Even Coach Price admitted that on his coach's show. So without Adcock, Irons and Harris on defense, the Raiders will lose by 70 in the first round of the playoffs again!
  13. Coffee County kind of reminds me of Vanderbilt. When they are actually in a game or have a chance to win, they usually find a way to lose! The knock on the Raiders is that they can never win the big game! This week could be the game for them to make their mark. They will either step up and get the big win, or they will find a way to lose late via a turnover of some kind. I hope I'm wrong, but Lincoln County wins 24-21 on a last second field-goal made possible by a Coffee County fumble at the 50-yard line.
  14. Binns hit the nail on the head! Coffee County was completly outcoached and coach Price should be embarassed. This was absolutely ridiculous. I'm not trying to make excuses or take anything away from Tullahoma because they have a good solid football team. But somebody please explain to me that when you are spreading the field all season long as Coffee County has and racking up 450 yards of offense a game and 40 points a game or something like that, why do you stop doing that. The Raiders haven't been running the wing-t all season long. They have been basing out of the wing-t but usually running with at least 3 receivers, sometimes four and every once in a while five! For whatever stupid reason, coach price decided he was going to come out and run out of the wing-t and go straight up the middle, even with the Wildcats putting eight men on the line of scrimmage! Heck if Tullahoma lost this game it would've been because they gave it to Coffee County. The gameplan for CC simply made no sense at all. I mean getting into a shootout with Cass Barnes and the t-town offense probably isn't the best of idea's but with the injures on CC's defense, it was the Raiders only chance! I'm seriously starting to believe that Coach Price can't win in Manchester without Jake Nunley. He is just completly illiterate when it comes to calling plays. He needs to get an offensive coordinator in their and let somebody else call the shots, because he cost them this game. I think he owes his players a better effort than what he gave, and he needs to be a little more responsible. I was listening to the radio during the post game interview and he brought up the injuries and stuff, he needs to take a little, well actually he needs to take alot more responsibility for his poor coaching! It wasn't his players fault that they couldn't run up the gut with eight or nine defenders and only five blockers! I mean Tullahoma still may have won even if Coffee County ran their normal offense, but at least it would have been close. I'm not throwing this at the players either, this is directly at Coach Price and his staff! I've seen some bad teams in Manchester over the past 30 years and I've seen some good ones....but on Friday night sitting on the visitor's side in Tullahoma....that was the first time I have ever been embarassed to be a Red Raider football fan.
  15. I will be there tonight......I really hope CC can win but I don't know if they can! It will take 40+ from Micah and It will be hard even if he is on top of his game, Oakland has athletes.........Good luck Coffee County......pull off an upset
