Our two freshmen cabins were surrounded by the cabins of other schools. Some other school decided to take advantage of this and stole things from the freshmen. Our seniors decided to go ask questions about what happened with the other teams. Westmoreland decided that they wanted to wait until after our seniors left (all except two) and start talking trash to the freshmen (really manly). They were shouting racial slurs as well as other things and throwing rocks at the cabins. Our seniors returned and they once again shut up. We figured it was over. As we were leaving our seniors found out what had been done by the freshmen, and we decided on our own to tell the coaches. We could have left, but as seniors we knew that wasn't the right thing to do and things had to be taken care of. Just an added piece of information, two of the three freshmen involved were African American, and had taken offense to the raciest remarks made by Westmoreland. Although this does not justify such behavior, it does explain why it happened. Racism isn't something to joke about, and it is a behavior that should be punished. Sadly, these freshmen went about things all the wrong way. They have been punished and learned their lesson. Oh, and another thing, two of the freshmen were also new to our school so i suspect that they had not learned what is acceptable here. They now know. We have apologised, we attempted to make things right, and this is in no way an example of what is taught to the kids at GP.
