  1. i'm really shocked that phillip weathers isnt being mentioned much. he's 5'8" 175 (i think he's putting on quite a few pounds over the summer though) really stout.. i saw his picture in the paper for squating 500+.. and his bench press is 320.. all that strength plus a blazing 4.37 40 yard dash time. if you believe that time is a lie.. it's not.. it was actually recorded at a speed camp at bethel college.. i'm not sure what his 40 time was at UTK's football camp, but i heard he was the fastest at the camp. i can't wait to see what this year brings for this guy, i just hope huntingdon has a decent o-line to help him out.
  2. p9morbid.. as smart as i figured you were before.. judging by your previous posts.. i figured you of all people would know better than to rely on something silly such as espn.com as a recruiting resource. and to the guy who said i was wrong about the 4.35 40 time.. just ask someone.. seriously... he may not be the tallest guy out there.. but give a little guy who can bench over 300 and run that fast some credit.. i've seen some really impressive runs by him and i think next year is going to be a fun highlight reel.. just look at the reels on Unapproved Website just from the CHAMPIONSHIP game.
  3. a 4.35 40 time isn't too bad either.. if you don't believe me, ask someone else who was at that speed camp.
  4. they just hired jason wambles (the defensive backs coach at bethel college) and jerry hayes' (legendary southside coach) son. the hayes guy played quarterback at ole miss and graduated recently. it's cool that the new additions are young guys with energy and both of them have been really big fans of the huntingdon program.
  5. actually you lost two.. as i hear they don't let 20 year olds play high school football.. (dustin lindsey)
  6. i wouldnt say we don't have a passing attack.. it's just that we have used the pragmatic way to get this far.. it's not like we don't EVER throw the ball.. but when you have backs popping off 62 yard TD runs.. why would you need it? if you are thinking huntingdon doesn't have a QB capable of throwing the ball just look at his completion percentage. i guess what i meant by being more dynamic is they have alot of weapons and they'll hurt you if you key on one player, not so much as being balanced in respects to passing and rushing. as for making an assessment about what we're up against.. its kinda hard to. it just seems too easy just to look at a bunch of numbers and make up some observation about it all. i might be brave enough to do that a little closer to gameday.
  7. stop hatin' bertier.. it's getting old.. one week you guys are all picking "whoever comes out of the west" to win it all.. and now you are jumping on the Alcoa bandwagon.. sure looks like a bunch of personal vendettas to me. you flipflop more than john kerry.. your picking against huntingdon every week.. therefore no one takes you as a knowledgable source.. everything you say is driven by hate.. i think you need a hug. and then when huntingdon come's out as the representative from the west that's not enough for you is it?
  8. you say that UC fans were all "on here talking smack in 2000" but if i remember correctly coacht.com wasn't even around at that time.. get your facts straight bub you kids are so quick to put "any amount of money" on...... 3!... of the 5 teams.. jesus christ you are confident.. or i guess it's just easy to be confident when you are sitting behind a computer screen.
  9. i dont know about everyone else but i'm getting really pumped about this game. all these folks from east tennessee have labeled alcoa as a 3A and 4A state title contender. i respect their opinion. if huntingdon were to dismantle alcoa.. (i say IF) where would that put the mustangs? and west tennessee 2A football for that matter. would we finally get the picture that sometimes classification and school size just doesnt matter when you have a winning mindset and the right group of guys playing the game? last year we all saw huntingdon put on one of the best masterpieces against a "supposedly good" david lipscomb team. i seriously think that the perfect game huntingdon had would have troubled any team, regardless of classification. like i said i respect all the alcoa supporters opinions but let's hope all those promises dont come up empty. i think that huntingdon has a more dynamic offensive attack with chris, boo, scott, and desmond. the only problem is we haven't seen quite the offensive spark that we saw in the regular season. it's been the defense that has shined so far. but i think when you put this offense on artifical turf big plays are going to happen all over the place. maybe we'll break more records this year and maybe dustin lindsey will get his record too. 34-14, with Huntingdon on top. (because i want the alcoa RB to break the record)
  10. he's playing baseball at ittawamba cc in mississippi.. but he's transferring to play baseball/football at bethel after christmas
  11. there's a fan impersonating a milan football fan and i'm pretty sure he's not one. his motives are purely to hopefully fire up the huntingdon mustang faithful, and i think a few milan fans are starting to catch onto this. he's degrading their fans. this is the opinion of an outsider, with me being a huntingdon mustang fan myself. i just know i wouldnt want someone doing the same to us. it wouldnt be an issue if this imposter wasnt hiding behind the name he is using to try and decieve people. if you could track down the alias milan05 and research this yourself. his posts make things obvious.. so my recommendation is to remove this guy before he does any more than he's already done.
  12. what time do the gates open? also who else thinks it's sad that wljt just decided to take a "break" so they could make the transition from football to basketball game of the week. quoted from the WLJT site: "The WLJT Game of the Week goes on hiatus while the production crew & engineering staff prepare to transition from football to basketball. The next scheduled WLJT Game of the Week is high school hoops between Huntingdon and Dresden with a December 2nd, 6:30pm tip-off in Dresden. However, Huntingdon will play Milan on Friday, November 26 in the TSSAA Football Semifinals and if they get the win, will advance to the state championship game in December. If Huntingdon is victorious on Friday, the Huntingdon-Dresden basketball game may be postponed. Check back after this Friday for an update and other news about the WLJT Game of the Week!" the television cameras and the big crowd always adds to the already electric atmosphere and it was great to see the camden game again. pity we wont get to have a taping of this classic game. oohh and by the way, i'm picking huntingdon by 14. i'd explain further but there's not really a place for that anymore on here. that stinks, huh? some people just have to ruin it for everyone. so in honor of this great game, can we talk football and not trash for just this last day before the game?
  13. i was disappointed to see that the visitors side was performing a fire drill with 5 minutes left in the game.
  14. i personally think region 7 will be stronger. the bar for success rises when you have to play huntingdon, milan, westview, dresden, and usj year in and year out. personally i dont know how USJ will fair in 2A.. it seems alot of their games were either 7 to 6 squeekers or a blowout against a team like gleason. i'm guessing it will take them at least a season to adjust to smashmouth football instead of being so finesse. it shall be interesting to see which powerhouse they get to do battle with first.
  15. it's not just stats.. if it was.. i would imagine boo got the nomination because for most of the year he was the top rusher from west tennessee. i think people unknowingly pick the popular ones.. but i will give them a little more than to say they just looked at this weeks or last weeks paper prior to making a decision. people see phillip weathers' name and then they see Huntingdon is his team.. and then they think.. hmmm... state champions? again.. it's sad.. but its the way things are.
  16. it's basic knowledge that people are gonna nominate who they've heard more buzz about.. it's sad.. but such is life
  17. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... ok seriously
  18. don't confuse track record with ability.. guy may have bloomed later than walker but that doesn't mean walker is better. Many 4th and 5th year guys can't hold Lebron James' jock in the NBA.
  19. "my take on the game" Cheatham Co. vs Huntingdon The Mustangs should fair pretty well this week. No one really questions the ability of their high powered offense, and the Cubs have had trouble keeping opposing teams from putting many points on the board so far, so shutting down Huntingdon's offense is probably out of the question for Cheatham. There's not much to say about this that already hasn't been said about this issue. The Mustangs just have to be more careful with the illegal procedure calls. Those killed us last week. (maybe the cold weather?) Huntingdon's defense is still having a little trouble with tackling, but they're getting better. We're finally getting to see some more agression and desire on that side of the ball. Maybe desperation mode has kicked in. They are swarming to the ball carrier better but that first man there has got to make the tackles more often. Fairly decent teams will exploit this like Loretto did with the tricky "reach-around" ( ) play.. Cheatham's offense has got to spread things all over the field. Running in the box won't result in much. Your facing one of the best linebacking corps in the state. Cheatham's success would probably come from short moderate pass plays. Defensively the Cubs have to know where Boo is at all times. He will hurt you when you expect it least. Same with Chris Donald. If either one of these cats get into the secondary you might as well get the kick return team ready. (or you could wait for a clipping penalty to happen 50 yards from the play) All in all, I used to think you could "spoil" things by letting others in on info about teams., but c'mon this is just a message board. who takes this seriously? the real gameplan is in the heads of the vigilant coaching staffs and nothing i've said isn't rocket science when they've already watched the game films on each other. Like I always say when making bold statements on here, I hope I'm right, and if I'm wrong I can't be suprised.. this is High School football.
  20. never listen to someone who uses the word "REGET"

    U T Martin

i don't really think we have the athletes or the resources to be competive year in and year out in the OVC. I'd much rather go out and see a game if we were playing in the gulf south conference again (two more losing seasons in the OVC and i hear that's probably where we are heading to).
  22. round of applause for ktrainfan....

    Loretto?

from what i've heard loretto is big and physical but not very fast. this could be field day for boo and chris.
  24. GerryBertier you're like a child who insists on getting in the last push or hit in a play fight. you have nothing but negative things to say about Boo. If half the players on a team had the heart and desire as him they'd be unstoppable. You say he's not durable and won't last long, I have not seen him get up slow one time all season. If your implying that he'll soften up towards the end of the year because he's wore down, I doubt it. Phillip Weathers at least deserves a nomination for this award simply because he's a spark to his team, and he makes things happen every time he touches the ball. I'm sure the same can be said about Markei Guy but I'm more impressed by the fact that Boo hardly ever comes out of the ballgame, while Guy keeps decently fresh legs for most of the game. So when you people talk about who is the "difference maker" for their team, you have to consider that Boo contributes to both sides of the ball, and he does a really nice job both ways. Show me another kid his size doing the things he does. He fights for yardage against guys much bigger than him, even late in the game. That says alot about a guy going both ways.
