  1. i see alot of improvement this year.. give your new coach some time.. they didn't build rome in a day..
  2. i'm not trying to compete with coacht.com. I think that it would be nearly impossible to do what he's done all over again. i'm just trying to start a good reliable source of information for west tennessee football fans. i dont think i could ever break the habit of visiting coacht.com everyday. VG - wtso looks to me like a bunch of random things thrown together on one page.. and alot of the writeups are old. like i said before i think they dont have enough personnel to try to tackle all those different things effectively, but i do commend them for covering what they do cover. i just want a pure full-fledged football website. can i get an amen?
  3. hey cocky Huntingdon fans any of you going to go cheer on HHS alum Terrance Bell tommorrow at Bethel College's game against Pikeville? It's at home in Mckenzie and I hear he's been a valuable asset to BC so far this year.
  4. agreed.. the middle of the field was open for passing all night but swenson didn't want to take that chance. there's 3 things that can happen when you throw and only 1 is good. huntingdon's QB doesn't fare too bad when he has had to pass.. i think like 13-18 for i'm not sure how many yards.. 3 for 4 tonight. huntingdon has never been known to pass the ball much.. "hey diddle diddle we're comin' up the middle"
  5. i think they were physically wore out. I noticed during timeouts and between quarters the majority of them were kneeling with their heads down and drinking alot of water while the huntingdon players kept their helmets on and stood around talking strategy. like i said anyone who understands football could see the gameplan for the second half.. they were physically hurting them with Donald and his power running, and then Huntingdon would catch them slacking off with Boo off to the races. genious
  6. i can't believe this thread is already 4 pages deep.. lots of people are getting baited into saying things that A.) whip the dead horse B.) make huntingdon fans sound cocky so next time you see a thread like this.. let's just sit back and look at the motive behind it.. and next time we shouldnt bother wasting the space on these boards defending the claims of all these people.. after all.. alot of people just see the topic "Huntingdon is way To Cocky!" and they say.. "gee wow i guess they are this thread has been at the top for a long time now"
  7. keep me updated NWTenn.. i'm starting to draw the plans up for this. I think it will go over well in West Tennessee. I know there's alot of fans in this area that would love to have good quality updated material on the teams around here that's 24/7. I'm looking for contributors so if I kinda need to know who'd be willing to help out. Just post a message here if anyone is interested and what team they'd serve. The key to having a content-rich site dedicated to rural West Tennessee is making it as simple as possible for as many who would like to contribute information, much like CoachT.. but we can go even farther on detail since we're not worrying about the 305 or so schools in the state.
  8. and now enter the flaming pundits.. before they strike i'll put in my good words. Lexington was a very athletic team, honestly probably the most athletic team we'll face all throughout the regular season, and they scouted us out pretty well. But a trend I started to catch on to late in the second quarter is that each time a Lexington player got off the ground slower, many of them could barely stand up. And that only became more so true in the second half. If there's one thing Huntingdon has on their side it's conditioning and physically they matched up well against Lexington. Lexington's offensive line was alot bigger and they averaged like 230 across i think. Like i figured they were fast and skilled all over the place. Huntingdon wasn't very effective with the trickery in the backfield with the scatbacks. That's expected when you face a team with alot of speed like that. When Donald started pounding it up the middle in the I formation I could see them starting to break and the masterplan was taking action. I think it's an excellent gameplan to wear them out with Donald up the middle for 5 yards a pop, and then blow by them with Boo when they're tired and sucking for air. Like they said on the radio, good teams know how to adjust and in the second half we did that well. The secondary did a great job and deserve credit. 3 INTs and many deflected passes. The pass rush was good as well. I would have liked to see them blitz the LBs a bit more it seemed everytime they did blitz good things happened. Giving up 160 yards in a game to a team like Lexington is quite a good defensive performance. Yes special teams was something we all covered our eyes on, and maybe it will haunt them, and maybe it won't. If they blow people out of the water by 2 TDs every game until they mess up enough they will learn and get some things right eventually, then so be it. Now flame us you pessimistic naysayers. I'm sure you'll find alot of things Huntingdon did wrong in this game but I thought it was a good overall measuring stick for us.
  9. the latter is correct.. USJ shut out Bruceton
  10. what's the story on the buckley brothers? they were hurt in week 2 what about this week? are there any lexington fans on here?
  11. westtnstate2004 do you need a hug? how about a cookie?
  12. most of the "idiotic" statements from huntingdon fans are provoked by other people purposely.. after all these people have nothing better to do or talk about.. i'm not gonna say that the fans should blame others for their own statements.. but this charade is hilarious.. WHO CARES? it's just funny to me
  13. i think Mansfield said it best when he said that "The wind blows hardest on the top of the mountain." milan05, ekard, thanks for the comical relief... really. You guys will get your shot just wait your turn.
  14. Something that I think people need to understand is that it's easy to forget that what a couple of crazy fans full of pride get on this site and talk does not make the character of a team. So you can't call Huntingdon's team overzealous just because a couple of fans go nuts on a message board. Unless I actually saw someone named "mustangfbplayer#69" or something like that and they were running their mouth i wouldnt disrespect a program due to a few fans being overconfident. I can't remember seeing any time Huntingdon overlooked someone except Fairview a few years back in the many years i've followed Huntingdon Mustang football. Everything that is said on here for the most part is based on speculation and opinions. I think that Huntingdon has alot of weaponry this year. For Lexington to have a chance they have to keep Huntingdon's offense off the field. There are lots of possibilities for Huntingdon when the offense is on the field, every week it seems they try something different and it works. I'm not going to be quick to say that this week will be the same story, because the opposition is a lot tougher, but I think it's safe to say this will be a good measuring stick to just how good Huntingdon's bag of tricks is. Most people think that Huntingdon's secondary is weak, but I think this is funny because no one said this last year, and this is the same secondary unit basically. And if Donald really is playing free safety, I'd hate to be a Lexington ballcarrier in open field with him around. The secondary has good hands, Boo Weathers is one of the most textbook pass defenders there is (watch the State Championship tape) and Scott Hampton is a good coverage guy as well. Everyone likes to see high scoring games, and everyone likes to see big plays. I for one think that if Lexington does choose to put the ball in the air there will be alot of those big plays, and they could go either way. 42 - 14 - might be "overzealous" but hey what can I say.. I don't think Huntingdon is taking anything for granted this year.
  15. MrGoodwrench you are about as much of a flipflopper as John Kerry. I think maybe you're just around to throw fuel to the fire and keep these threads going.
  16. In my opinion WTSO.com is undermanned to take on all the things they try to take on. I like the idea of having 2 or 3 correspondents who contribute for their school of choice. People who won't show conflict of interest. (meaning they dont show bias just because they love the team they are writing for) Also, to the teams who could do this, I'm sure your statistician wouldn't mind sharing stats with you. That would be a possibility since we have such a small area to cover and if we had people from each school helping out. Having stats is something i wish coacht had. CoachT.com is advertised as a statewide site so it would be very hard for them to try such a thing without abandoning some of it's users. I just get sick of seeing all these cool things that are basically only for the east Tennessee and middle Tennessee teams. Things like this build upon interest, and come on.. we live in Tennessee. It's not like there isnt enough interest for high school football floating around.
  17. if they plan on passing they better have the buckley kid (#4) healthy this week.. i didn't really see any other decent recievers besides him unless the RB can catch and they pass it to him
  18. just trying to keep this towards the top of the recent posts.. only 1 person thinks this is a good idea?
  19. how many of you would be interested if someone were to set up a football site similar to coacht? (would be hard to do better but more detailed due to smaller coverage area) i'm just trying to gauge the amount of interest because i think it would be a good idea.. so just chime in if you are interested
  20. www.wljt.org there's a schedule of games they will be televising somewhere on there
  21. wonder what it would take for us to get a huntingdon-JCM game on the docket? i have always respected JCM as a exceptional program and i think it would start yet another of the many rivalries in west tennessee
  22. seeing weathers and walker play against each other will be one of the highlights of the season.. both are extremely fast and really small so they'll both be really hard to catch.
