You "organized kickball" guts crack me up. You know, the only people who down football and try to "elevate" their "sport" are soccer and cheerleading. The later is definately NOT a sport and the soccer is not far behind it in my opinion. Where do you all come up with these comparisons anyway, at the beauty salon while you are getting your nails and hair done. Anyone who knows athletics knows that the best athletes in the world are basketball players, followed closely by footballers.

I am truly shocked to hear so many people thinking that missing practice is not a big deal. I gues this is what Allen Iverson wanted with his "Practice, we are talking about practice" comment. There is NO and I mean NO excuse for missing practice without the coach's permission. Regardless of a "stand" or a "belief", you get your a** to practice and be with your team.

Get out of Utopia!! Recruiting is a growing part of high school sports. Private schools can grant financial aid to whomever they wish. I dare say a kids "need" is in direct corrlation to his "skill" level. Private school coaches coach kids that should be in other schools, that was my point. As to recruiting football players instead of soccer players, this is true because football rules in America!!!

I hate soccer and don't know why I am on this page. However, when it comes to coaching high school sports, I do have an interest. Most of the posts on this topic have dealt with coaches from private schools. In my opinion, these coaches are as much recruiters as coaches. Comparing a public school coach and a private school coach is not exactly fair. Public school coaches coach what they have in their school. To me, they are better coaches than private school coaches for this reason.

Farragut will have arguably the best back in the region with #5 coming back. He will be used a little more now that Mr. Dickey (last years QB who was not very good but had the last name) is gone. I think the y also have several lineman back!!

RebelRon, Usually your information is right on. However, in this case you are misinformed. Todd does have two Super Bowl rings. He did win one when the Rams beat the Titans. However, he was not on either team when the Pats and the Rams played. Todd was with the Patriots when they lost to the Packers, so his other rings is the silver, not the gold.

Not much from the IMAC at the Vol Track Classic other than the Lyons girl from Greenville. I would think that the Lyons girl puts a damper on West's hopes to win the conference since she will beat Krystal in both. Might cost you some points. Saw Jeff practice the other day (Friday) and they are finally gettng in shape and healthy for another conference title!!!

I only know what I have read on this board of this situation. However, I do know Coach Cox from his days in Jeff. Co. I have always thought of him as a fair and compassionate coach. I cannot think of a good reason to miss practice unless the player is making up a test or going to a funeral of a family member or friend. These are the only reasons for letting your team down by missing practice. Comeupper, you say you have not missed a practice in 3 1/2 years. Why start now? Because you are a senior? Bucause you and your class have not been able to live up to the past teams at Central? Or maybe you think you are in the pros and need a day off? You are a cry baby who needs to realize that it was you who did wrong, not Coach Cox!!

Sevier Co. will keep getting better all year. They have many young players who will improve as they mature. They might surprise somebody at distrct tourney time!!

WOW!! 0-10 to 10-0. That is turning it around. I agree with you totally about high school football. All it takes is a win here and there and the kids start believing in the system. I wonder if this has ever been done with the same coach in place?

I am not kin to Cade, but I have watched him a couple of times. He seems to really understand the game and plays well within the system at Maryville. He also wins a bunch of games.

Is it still the KIL meet, not the West and Farragut invitational . I think it will be interesting to see how Bearden and Farragut perform here. Usually they do not "juice it" until region time, but maybe they will be early this year.

The only reason for the weight limit is so no one says a 56s 400m guy is a thrower and messes up the race. If you are a legitimate thrower and have no real speed to speak of, you can run in this race.

Ok, you have proven yourself to be a complete idiot. First of all, I am perfectly willing to accept facts, not fiction. Fiction is all West can provide at this time. Next, I do not pay them to win, I make donations to their programs, you moron. Lastly, I did not quit baseball. You see, at Jefferson Co., the coaches worked together and allowed me to do both my freshman and soph. year. I then left baseball to concentrate on track. I never ran against Coach Farmer that I can remember, but he was a great runner. Unfortunately for him, he has not had the talent to compete for conference titles, and this year will be no different.

Just wondering if any team has ever gone from worst team in the region to winning the region the next year? Does anyone think their team can do it this coming year?

The kid at Maryville is special. The QB at Alcoa is very good to be so young. Who will pull the trigger at Heritage and William Blount? Wojo is gone at WB and Heritage's QB could not throw the ball and hit water from a boat!!
