  1. please beat Halls...those guys run their mouths about worse things than y'all...lol thumb
  2. sir...please dismount your horse...
  3. Okay, now I saved myself from making this comment after Dobyns-Bennett eliminated Jefferson County, but now after the same type of comments come up after beating (but not eliminating) Science Hill it seems like this might be a good time to say go ahead and let it out. Major League Baseball plays a 162-game regular season schedule. After each win that a team has, you will usually not find the players putting down the team that just lost. Even after a playoff game, you will see the victorious team talking about how great of a game it was and sometimes even giving credit to their opponents. Has high school baseball lost track of that? This was not a MUST WIN game tonight, a big win yes, but not the biggest. Remember, if you lose on Friday...your season is over. I wish y'all luck on Friday, and I hope that y'all will beat Halls. But if I were from another team getting ready to play y'all, I would have to say that you have no class. Remember that a win is a win, whether it is by slaughter rule or a 1-run squeaker. On that same note, a loss is a loss. And a loss on Friday would be the final one, so don't let that happen. Science Hill will be playing on Friday too, and I hope that they win as well. It'd be great to have 2 teams from District 1-AAA going to State. And just a piece of advice, if y'all win state (and a victory on Friday would make for a pretty good case that y'all could take it) please take that trophy, order your rings, and leave Memphis headed back to Kingsport with the satisfaction that you've beaten the best. There is no need to run the other team into the dirt, that's just bad sportsmanship (and this doesn't go for everyone on the board...and I've been guilty of the exact same thing before and it's only later that I realize what that must have looked like). I don't want to go into the "if you don't win state" part, because honestly I don't want to make a prediction like that. This win doesn't mean a thing if it's followed by a loss on Friday. Every team in the state of Tennessee that lost tonight has the same chance of getting to state as all of the winning teams from tonight's games. Win on Friday, celebrate responsibly with the friends and family, and have a safe trip to Memphis. But I do agree with GLee's statement about those yellow uniforms...and the Unicoi uni's that remind me of a blue-toned version of the old Astros. Where are people getting these horrendous ideas from?
  4. Okay, just for a bit of information...our college played in the Conference and Regional tournaments where there was a temporary fence in place...
  5. That's my birthday, I can't make that game. Someone let me know how it turns out.
  6. is there anything like the TBCA has for baseball? I'd like to see a nice list of the top players (per class, per position, etc.) for softball...anyone else?
  7. Personally, it should have been a suspended game. I hate that South Greene had to get taken out like that, and it is true that Coach Baxter offered to complete the game on Tuesday. It really bites for the South Greene players, especially the seniors that played their final game...
  8. like I said, after this game someone was dissapointed to see Dobyns-Bennett lose the Conference Tournament...and it turned out to be the Patriots...congratulations Indians...
  9. Honestly, my eyes are on the softball tournaments going on. I think that one of these teams will end up wishing that Dobyns-Bennett would have won the District Tournament. Which team that will be is yet to be seen...
  10. Yeah, I know that the Jett girls are cousins. It's good to see the ladies performing on the field AND in the classroom. I was also told that they were ladies of very good character, and now 'raiderray' has just confirmed this. I will keep my eye on the ladies from Jeff Co., because it always seems that there are good teams turned out from Exit 417...
  11. okay, since you seem to be online...do you have AIM?...my s/n is '[edit]', if you could send me an IM then I could talk with you...if not, then let me know and I'll post something else on here for a short period of time
  12. Thank you TNT, do you have any more information on these girls (primarily the Jett girls, Griggs, Thorton, and Smith). I'm talking about stats and things like that. Also, if any of these girl perform exceptionally in the classroom then let me know. I'm looking for some quality softball players and I have known for the past few years that Griggs and the Jett girls were for real, but I'd like to have some numbers to look at. Also, if you could keep me informed on tomorrow's game (I could have made it to Daniel Boone High School, but Jeff Co is too far with my schedule tomorrow I'm afraid). Once again, I thank you for the information that you have given me and any additional info would be greatly appreciated. Also, if there is any way to get in touch with those players, then let me know (no addresses or phone numbers, just a "yes" or "no").
  13. Okay, so Jennifer Griggs should be a senior now, Tiffany Seals should have graduated last year. So that leaves me to believe that Katy and Lynnsey Jett are both juniors this year as well as Ashley Kyle. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, because I haven't got the chance to see these girls play this season (or maybe even last year either).
  14. I'm not a big fan of Science Hill or Dobyns-Bennett, but they undoubtedly have two of the best athletic programs in Northeast Tennessee. Nothing against the atheletic programs of the other schools, because there are others that can compete, but year after year you will see Science Hill and Dobyns-Bennett near the top of the majority of standings, regardless the season of the sport. I'm going to support 'Surf4life' on their statement. As far as team play goes, I cannot honestly say anything about that, because only players on the team would know about that for certain. Team chemistry is left up to the players and coaches that are the team.
  15. I've seen these ladies play a few times in the past 3 years. I think that Katy Jett will be graduating in 2006, but I've lost track of some of the other players that I've seen play there. I believe that Lynnsey Jett is still there doing the catching, but what about Griggs, Tiffany Seals, and the rest? Those girls could play, that's for sure. So who all is on the team now and for how much longer? And what happened to the girls that graduated?
  16. Thank you 'donkeylips', finally someone trying to restore the conversation here. It was also nice to hear someone say "little redneck town" and "Kingsport" in the same sentence, thank you for that 'bud'. Let's see who wins these Regional games so we can move onto Sectionals. And in case you didn't know, there is life after high school...right now it might seem like the most important thing in the world, but there's more to follow in our lives. But right now for those of you that are in high school and playing sports, go ahead and make the most of it, because I miss it. I have no comment on whether the different schools have heart or if they are playing "me ball", because honestly that is something that only the players would know. Sometimes individuals have the heart when their teammates don't, but when it all boils down to is who gets the job done and who goes home for the summer.
  17. I'm tacking one up for Pigeon Forge as well...
  18. Back to the Region 1-AAA Tournament...how do you think all of these games will go down?
  19. I don't have a dog in this race (District 1-AAA). To tell the truth, I actually have more of a stock interest in the Jefferson County team. The Patriots will be hard to beat, but the Indians can't put together a shabby game and expect to win. There will be one very good team leaving the baseball field at Jefferson County wondering what they could have done differently, that's for sure.
  20. Well, then it looks like the Lady Cyclones could very well find themselves having another great season in 2006. Like you said, I hope that Abby goes onto college.
  21. The road will get a little tougher for the Ladies in Blue starting in the Regionals, but I say that they will pull through the next two games with victories. It won't be as easy in my opinion, but I think that the Unicoi Ladies will see Sub-State in '05...stay focused...
  22. Which girls played their last high school game? I know it stings to be a senior, because I went through that. My last high school game was a 2-1 loss in 9 innings. So who are the girls that should recieve thanks for all the hard work that they've put in for 4 years?
  23. Well, it looks like Red Hot DB got cooled down. I wasn't at the games so I can't say what the reasons were for the two losses to Science Hill. Maybe Science Hill came out to play, and maybe Dobyns-Bennett didn't. All I know is that the Toppers put more men across the plate than the Indians in two straight games. Now the District 1-AAA Tournament is over, so put it behind you and "park it". To the Dobyns-Bennett team: You had a very good regular season, but you got beat out in the District Tournament. It's okay, because you are still in the Regionals. The best thing to do about the District Tournament is to "Park It". Pick the intensity back up for the Regionals, because there are some good teams over in District 2-AAA. I hope your steak dinner was good, but I really enjoyed my Moonlite Bar-B-Q up in Owensboro, Kentucky earlier today. Maybe y'all could get together with the Toppers for another steak dinner after a District 1-AAA Regional sweep. To the Science Hill team: Obviously you had a great tournament run coming out of the losers' bracket to beat Dobyns-Bennett. But those wins don't mean a thing other than having a home game against the 2-seed from District 2-AAA. Congratulations on your District Tournament Championship, but like I said, it doesn't mean a thing if you lose your next game. It's time to go out and show those District 2-AAA boys that the Northeast Tennessee sector is for real. Y'all will be representing Tri-Cities baseball alongside the Indians. How about supporting each other in the first round of Regionals, then both teams have a good shot at going to Sub-State.
  24. Congratulations Brandon, I hope that you will enjoy it there and I'll see you in the Spring...or maybe in the Fall...I haven't seen our schedule yet...either way, the best of luck to you in the future...but let's finish this year up right first...
  25. I'll be heading to Kentucky next week with our softball team (we qualified for the Regionals in Owensboro, KY)...but I'm going to keep a check on the Falcons during tourney time...best of luck to y'all and I hope that y'all can get into the Regionals (and hopefully with a home game) so I can catch one more after I get back from ol' Kentucky...
