No, this will be a long year for the Dragons. They lost 14 seniors and a few good athletes left the program for various reasons. Fentress County has a strong middle school team every year. This will be one of the worst years ever at YAI. No offense. Young line.

Congratulations to Upperman for winning the region. The district has a chance of sending 2 teams to the state tournament. I heard that Coach Patton was forced out as baseball coach on Wednesday. Also heard that nobody in the building would coach baseball. They asked Tayes and Choate and both said no. The administration is hoping that Dickie Brown will take the job, but his love is football and he is going to be retiring soon. They (YAI) have the job posted on the TSSAA website. A person would have a big job in front of him (or HER) if they wanted to build a solid program. With no support from the administration and a group of parents who think their kid is Division 1 material, The dragons may be searching long and hard for a replacement fot "the General". I wish the kids the best of luck. I hope that they find a coach that loves the game, knows the game, has a great work ethic, and is a coach who teaches the kids to play the game as it is meant to be played. Good luck Upperman! Which boys are talking about going to the other high school in the county? I heard most of the middle school players were going there. Is this true? Wouldn't that make for a very strong single A team during the next few years? I think Clarkrange only lost 1 starter and had only 1 junior on the team. Combine all these things, and the boys could have one fine baseball team. Esp. in single A baseball. I am afraid the administration will do nothing at York. Baseball means no more to them than track, cross country, or golf. General Patton will be in command there until SHE decides to give it up or SHE runs out of players. Sad but true. Just wondering what the problem at York is. They seem to have a lot of talent, very nice field, nice indoor facility, and a decent feeder program. I know the Goad kid, the wright boy, and the Roysden boy were excellent playrers when they were young. I know this is a tough district, but these kids should be very competitive. How many district games have they won since the woman coach took over the program? Does anyone see them being more competitive in the future? I heard the middle school team has a lot of talent. Good luck to both teams. Clarkrange won by 50 tonight. The clock ran the whole fourth quarter or they would have scored 100! I look for JC to win the region and for C-range to beat them in the state finals. If they do meet for the state title, what fun we will all have in Murfreesboro. It will be a classic battle of two very well coached teams. Forget about the fans because it's all about the girls! Go, Buffaloes and Lady Buffaloes!!

I remember the Dragons killing Hogeye from 1977 through 1980. Beat Mcoin and company something like 48-6 in 1980. It will be a good game. I will pick LA 28-21.

Check the past 10 years, the butt kickings have gone both ways. I remember a couple of years where the owls took 2 in the same year. you sound awful cocky for an average team that may or may not even make the playoffs. When they get hit in the mouth they usually lay down. Just sayin.....

I always check the boards for news on the Tigers. It has been very quiet this year. What is up with the footall program? I read where they have a decent junior high team. U York doesn't run the single wing, wing t, or the double wing this year. They run the split-back veer. They have 2 good backs and a smart, athletic QB. He can throw it, although he hasn't had to yet. This could be a very close game. The Dekalb County fans seem to think this one is already in the win column as a blowout. York just might hit them right in the mouth. York's running backs are very good. It will be a good game. Godd luck to both teams. "Play the game"

York rushed for 470 yards, were very balanced with their carries, and just flat out hit SC in the mouth. good luck to the Dragons this season.

They kept him overnight for observations. He came home this morning, Going to be fine. He got hit in the hand, in the throat, and under the cup. 4 pitches: #1- hand #2-Nuts- dizzy #3-Throat- this one hit his balls which had previously been knocked in his throat. Enough to make any man pass out. I am thankful he is OKAY That is why the catcher's gear is called the "tools of ignorance"

Clarkrange had the "deer in the headlight" look in the 1st inning. Thet comitted 3 errors the entire game, and 2 occured within the first 4 batters. All errors were in the 1st. Friendship is really strong. You were right. Clarkrange's starter gave up 8 runs before being pulled with nobody out. #10 came in and pitched well, got them out of the inning, and struck out 2. Friendship had 15 runs, 16 hits, a solid defense, and all 3 pitchers looked good. Their outfielders were solid. You are right, they are on a different level. I look for them to POUND J.C. Wednesday. FC-12- JC-2. Who will the 2 play on Friday? Clarkrange did have 3 nice, solid base hits and 4 hard hit balls that FC made the plays on. Too many errors, too many K's, too many athletes. They are definately poised to win the state. Good luck to FC and JC from a sad ole Buffaloe.

I hope they look over clarkrange. I realize the difference in talent is hard to overcome. What makes this such a great sport is that a "little man" can beat a "big man" and funny things can happen in a baseball game. One year Meigs County was 24-6 and hoasted Howard 6-12. Meigs hit line drives right at them and Howard (Chattanooga) made all the plays. The game lasted 53 minutes and a very good Meigs County team was done. Final 2-1. They may not win, but Clarkrange will battle. Have you seen them play? They are not bad.

Clarkrange lost a hard fought battle with Wartburg (3-6). They had the bases loaded twice with good hitters at the plate. It was a playoff atmosphere. This should help prepare the boys for the district tournament. The tournament begins today with Clay County hosting Pickett. Good luck to all the teams. RIP SOME BOOBIES!

Good luck seniors on your last home game. Wartburg will be ready to play after the 10 inning battle last year at their place. Congratulations on a great year so far. Most of you guys have been starters for three years now. You guys have worked hard to remodel the field and become winners. The field and the "BLUE MONSTER" look great. These seniors have now won 51 games in the past 3 years. I hope you guys peak during the next few weeks. THE SKY IS THE LIMIT. If you have not seen the new facilities or the boys play, Monday night would be a good time. The 8 seniors will be honored prior to the first pitch. This should be a very good game.
