  1. awww...thanks thelma...i'll take credit for the best right-handed guard if reno can take credit for the best lefty...and of course we both wore the best number ever...and i'll bet we'll both agree u win the award for best slasher/all-around player....any coach would have been lucky to have a girl like you on his team ; ) see you and reno tomorrow...sure you don't want me to bring you an extra black and gold shirt??? hehe...
  2. hey TSF...i don't really blame you...i don't think i could do a trojan cheer either...but that didn't mean i wasn't rootin' for chs last year in state....as long as we're not playing y'all, i always hope the green comes out on top believe it or not...so as long as you're secretly pulling for the lady cats and maybe sit in our section if you're at the game, we'll take it...
  3. on wednesday only $7 gets you admission to 6 straight games due to the mtsu men's game wed. nite at 7:30...thursday and friday it's $7 per session (3 games in 2 different sessions)....saturday it's a $10 ticket.....and don't forget about the $5 for parking each session....and the $4 cokes in an mt souvenir cup....and the nachos with jalapenos for $3....and the hand-squeezed lemonade/orangeade for $4 and a sugar rush....and the domino's pizza.....and the otis spunkmeyer cookies, ice cream, etc., and a souvenir program for $5, and maybe a t-shirt too??? oh, and i heard gas is goin up again too....by the end of the month will average $3.75/gallon....so you might wanna carpool...but to see your team in the state tourney...priceless!
  4. WOO HOO!!!! I feel like i just won the lottery!!! except for the $22 in gas to get there and back and the $18 spent on snacks, just having to pay once to park and get in feels priceless...hahaha
  5. in the past, admission has been $7 per session and parking $5 per session, except for saturday with a $10 admission??? hard to remember....i'm gonna go out on a limb and say wednesday: $7 admission + $5 parking = $12 thursday: $7 admission x 2 + $5 parking x 2 = $24 friday: $7 admission x 2 + $5 parking x 2 = $24 saturday: $10 admission + $5 parking = $15 TOTAL: $75 (unless you leave your car parked between sessions and walk somewhere to eat or eat in your car or don't park where you have to pay)
  6. correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe for the first time ever on wednesday there is only one continuous 6-game session instead of two 3-game sessions due to the mtsu men's game wednesday night at 7:30...that's why the first class A game was moved to 9:30 instead of the normal 11:00...so admission-paying customers may get their money's worth on wednesday only with the one session i think...but, that also means you'll be paying $3.50 for a soft drink (probably will buy 2 minimum if you're there all day), so go figure???
  7. heck yes! u better be in our section or u might get a ole fashioned butt-whippin'!!! just one thing....we don't do that "how do you feel (mean and green)" cheer...if u think you can sit with us without beltin' that one out then ur welcome to set wit us...i got a feelin' we'll need all the fans we can get to outyell forrest so come on down "golden child"...hahahahaha /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  8. yes, i remember the camo days...when did you graduate??? i remember you guys also holding up the newspaper while the other team's starting lineup was called out....haha..good times, good times. congrats to the lady cats on the awesome win last night! and the crowd filled up the DB memorial gym as well..way to go WC fans! now let's pack the murphy center on wednesday morning....forrest is practically in murfreesboro's back yard, so we better bring 'em out, bring 'em out, bring 'em out--b/c i know they will! HEY YOU FANS UP IN THE STANDS GIVE YOUR TEAM A GREAT BIG HAND (clap clap clap, clap clap clap, clap clap clap clap clap clap) (clap clap clap, clap clap clap, clap clap clap clap clap clap)
  9. When the Wayne Co. teams of the 90s used to go to the state, they had huge fan support. As making the state tourney became expected more and more, less fans traveled with the team. And, understandably, it is costly for a family to pay admission and get snacks at the games. With that said, it has been seven long years since the Lady Cats have run up and down at Murphy Center, and they may just have the chance this year. These opportunities don't exactly come around that often. So bite the bullet and make your presence known at Saturday night's HOME sub-state game to help cheer them on and hopefully then again next week in Murfreesboro. In fact, tell your neighbors. Do your best to spread the word that we NEED to pack the gym and unite to support these young ladies. The Lady Cats put together an unbelievable string of games to capture the Region 6A Championship and need you there and loud in your black & gold!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> L-A L-A-D L-A-D-Y C-A-T-S WAYNE COUNTY (clap clap) LADY CATS! 11. hey reno old buddy old pal...i know where my all-dist. and all-region awards are--at the bottom of some landfill...haha....when we moved i just decided i didn't have room or need them so i trashed 'em all...i kept a few of the college awards and nicer high school awards, but they're collecting dust in a box somewhere...but it's like you said...i know exactly where my team's four state banners are located in the david a. byrd memorial gymnasium...hehe...and btw baby we be goin back to the overloaded mini-van city on june 29 ("i'll just sit back here" as my 6'3" husband climbs into the tiny trunk section of a mini-van--don't even say that didn't make you smile)...hope to see you at the murph next week??? oh, and YOU'RE my HERO--i mean i was gonna name my firstborn after you you know...except it was a she instead of a he...and where's thelma?
  12. hey cat you're right...it's sad to say, but with the way things are going, they should do away with the team, which is what district 12a did a year or two ago by doing away with the district all tourney team...there are several problems with the format...the most obvious to me was that the ballots were turned in before last night's game even began! another problem is this horrible tournament format that T$$AA is using(don't know if you were at the game or not, but it was not your usual championship crowd which is sad for the kids)...when the first round games are satellited out, you have to rely on either box scores or talking to other coaches to even know who to vote for off the other teams, the third is that most coaches just really don't care about the all-tourney team to begin with---usually just causes hard feelings on their team! and you must be right about someone voting out of spite b/c with 16 players total on the all-tourney team and only 3 off the championship team, something's wrong. first, you can't vote for your own players, so if i'm completing my all tourney ballot, in a way it's kind of hard to come up with 16 girls and not vote 4-5 ppl off 1st place team when you can't even pick your own players. but, evidently someone did. potete played well last night with about 14 pts. i believe, and hammonds had a double-double last night with 18 and 10 so i really felt like she would make it, but wait, last night's CHAMPIONSHIP game didn't matter in the voting! sometimes the districts "stick" together as well and vote for more of their district's players than the other district...sad, i know... my solution: choose a committee that sees all the games to choose the team. there are several ways you could do this, but i'd probably choose one person from each town that knows their bball and tell them they can get in free to the tourney games if they will attend all games and then make an unbiased vote on the all-tourney team. ballots could either be due at halftime of championship game or after the game if there was a boys' game following it. just my two cents worth....i just hope the girls don't take this all-region stuff too seriously....years from now no one will remember who got individuall awards, but they will remember where this TEAM finished and secured their place in lady cat history! hey, just one more win for the big banner now!!!!!!!
  13. yes, what a player...anyone would love to have her on their team....it seemed as if the WC defense did a great job on her and you look at the stat sheet and she got 35....true team player....best of luck to her at tech
  14. coach byrd did it again by having his girls ready and the girls already get a banner b/c in wc you get one if you make sub-state....so coach byrd's tradition continues to grow as he and the lady cats will hang his 17th banner in 21 years of coaching...region finals 17 of 21 years...that's pretty amazing! i think he had a streak of 7 consecutive region championships from '89-'95....now it's up to the girls on whether they get the smaller sub-state banner or the much larger and prettier state banner...go get it lady cats!
  15. the same thing could have happened in 12A with abby andrews as well...if the mvp process would have been different (i think it was a blind vote with no discussion) then there's probably a chance she might not have gotten the award...im not sure her coach would have nominated her if each coach was responsible for nominating from his/her own team b/c she was not the leading scorer on the team (but maybe not all her fault b/c she played a post position most of the year and will play guard at mtsu), but he might have... to answer why....i think most ppl are jealous by human nature and get tired of seeing the same ppl get more publicity and win awards all the time when there are other ppl on the team who are also very talented but don't get near as much exposure due to the one overpowering player...everyone wants to be for the underdog usually my guess on LL is that the other coaches resent it when players transfer, though they probably wouldn't publicly admit it, and they held it against her...plus she has two more years to win the award (even though she might have deserved it this year) as if that makes any difference in 12a this year there are 6 college signees that i know of (3 div. I) with 3 more probably waiting to sign at the end of the season, and there's no doubt if i'm picking a team from these girls that my first pick EVERY time will be abby andrews hands down...so good luck abby in being the 2nd cwood player to win the award!
  16. two district tournament championships for abby and cwood...2008 & 2007...and so far one region championship and state tourney berth in 2007....we'll see if she makes it two next week
  17. as the saying goes "you live and die by the three"....well, stown definitely died by the three last night...other than the ones nance hit...the rest of the team was cold...but give all the credit to cwood...thompson was unstoppable last nite and they controlled the boards....i'd like to see a stat sheet on how badly stown was outrebounded....but, there's always next week and anything can happen from here...could it be another wayne co./cwood matchup in the region semis?????
  18. try logging on to am930.net and you might be able to listen live.....they will be broadcasting the game
  19. Middle Tenn Christian at Collinwood on am930.net
  20. reno, where u been? i ain't seen u in like, well ages....at least since we went to vegas...will i see u at the murph next week? i know u'll be there supportin the green and white nation!
  21. should be an interesting matchup...neither team is very tall and mc seems to play only man to man defense and no one in 12a has even tried to 1-1 cwood..i wonder if mc will alter their defense with a box, triangle, or will they try to go straight man? i'd like to see someone stop andrews 1-1....not gon happen in class a...; )...thompson and daniel were hot last night and if that keeps up, the trojanettes will be unstoppable! anyone notice that tennessee's 2 assistants (nikki and holly), vandy, and belmont were all at the games at cully last night? btw, the game can be heard live on the web tomorrow night at 7 p.m. on am930.net
  22. amen cat! i have seen cwood play about 5 times this year and they haven't been good ft shooters either...they weren't against pc late in the game if you noticed mon. nite. just glad the lady cat 3s were on tonite...daniel finally played like i had been hoping she would all year long...what did u think? i think there was a state record set for most walks called by one official tonight!!!hehe...but most of them were legit...gotta put the ball on the floor a little sooner gurlz!
  23. well, one thing's for sure....won't be an all 11a finals anyway... willard must've shown why he was the 2007 12a coach of the year and the year before....and the year before...
  24. ...which played a huge key in them winning the state. they could never make it past region semis in 6a, but in a new district and region they were able to cruise to the state...not taking anything away from them as they played a great state tourney and deserved the gold ball, but sometimes a change of scenery means everything in the world!
  25. congrats, abby! good luck in winning the title, but even to be nominated is a great honor....guess they'll be retiring #23 after next season now! it'll look good next to #30 (mia daniel) and #14 (ashlee robertson), two other cwood greats.
