  1. just havin' fun w/u jamie! i was wondering what the state record was for most region championships or most consecutive region championships? i only know region 6 for about the last 20 yrs. or so (man i'm old!), but from 1987-2006, i believe wayne co. has won 12 of them, with 8 in a row ('89-'96)...i think cwood has won it 3 times, s'town 3 times, and moore co. 2 times (but they haven't always been in region 6, so they probably have more from their old region)....see if you can dig up some records...i bet 8 consecutive might constitute a record....that's pretty impressive! if i left someone out that has won or my statistics are inaccurate, i apologize....post it on here so we'll know
  2. keep adding that fuel to the fire... not saying it won't happen, but i can't remember the last time that 11a had two teams in the finals...wait, i don't think it has ever happened...hehe....maybe it has..im sure if it has you'll be letting me know!
  3. cwood combats their lack of height in the post by putting tenacious pressure on the ball by all three of their guards. whenever that much pressure is applied to the ball, and the post is fronted, it's gonna be tough to get the ball in the paint....don't think wayne county means to shoot so many 3s sometimes, it's just the only shot they can get it appears to me....they settle for a semi-open 3 or one 2 steps behind the line instead of pounding the ball into the post or driving it to the goal and drawing contact. when is the last time you saw one of the wc guards get to the free throw line other than a one and one or off a putback? they don't look for contact--they avoid it. wc's got to pull it together and learn from the same ol' mistakes if they plan on making it as far as they think they are capable of going.....like trying to block shots when you've got 2 fouls in the first half and 3 in the second half then having to go sit on the bench forever, catching the ball and putting it up over your head and letting the defense get all up in you, running your offense two steps further out than you want to... i'm not saying all this to put you down....i'm saying it to hopefully wake you up and get ready for next week! go lady cats!
  4. where and when is the region 4AAA tourney? who should the potential first round matchups be?
  5. Freed-Hardeman Senior Stacy Myers was injured in Thursday night's game at Lyon College two days after having her high school jersey retired. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance early in the game. MRI's came back negative, but she has 3-4 cracked vertebrae, and is in severe pain. Please pray for Stacy and her family.....they are truly a class act. Her playing days may be over, but let's hope there's a quick recovery for Stacy and she gets to play in the NAIA national tourney! Go Lady Lions!
  6. when does the region 6a tourney begin? has the format been set yet?
  7. Congrats to Miss Stacy Myers on becoming the 4th Lady Cat to have her jersey retired (#23). Stacy graduated from Wayne County High School in 2003 and is currently a senior at Freed-Hardeman University. Stacy holds the WCHS record (in the David Byrd era at least--last 21 years) for highest field goal percentage at 63% and probably half of those were left-handed shots. She has been an NAIA All-American the past two seasons and will surely continue that trend this season as she leads her FHU Lady Lion team in every statistical category. Stacy is truly well deserving of this honor and has worked extremely hard to achieve the successes she has enjoyed. She is a class act both on and off the floor. Congrats to Stacy and best of luck the rest of your senior year!
  8. congrats to the trojanettes as this one never got closer than 9 in the second half even with andrews only playing about 6 min. in the second half due to foul trouble and then eventually fouling out. cwood did an outstanding job on defense tonight all the way around, but esp. holding franks to 6 pts. and i must give props to the cwood bench as kephart, ward, and lacee ray made some key plays, esp. with ray coming into the game in the 3rd when rich got her 4th foul and scoring 3 buckets. congrats trojanettes on a well-played and well-prepared for ballgame...
  9. may be wrong, but i think 1267 was displaying a little SARCASM. and yes, ur correct--he is talented, but he looks kind of like shaq out on the perimeter--out of place.....although he is a decent outside shooter, he would be near unstoppable in class A ball if he wasn't allowed to leave the paint
  10. stown gets the early season win, but it will be closer than expected i think cuz thompson is way underrated on her defense...she will be able to pressure tucker and keep her from penetrating unlike most teams the lady eagles face...cwood also has 3-4 ballhandlers which is needed against stown's pressure d...but cwood has no bench...only 6 ppl saw the court against wc last week...comments?
  11. utc assistant becky myatt was in attendance tuesday night and sat on the front row of the waynesboro side...don't know exactly who she was looking at, but my guess is andrews since they are D1 andrews has her sights set much higher, however
  12. RENO, ur so good with your wagering (not), don't u think u should bet the opposite of what u really wanna bet? u know, pull a george costanza and do the opposite so it all works out...hahahaha...j/k...hope to see u at a game soon...

  15. just wondering if anyone knew if there was a longer streak than byrd's/wayne county's region championship consecutive streak of 8 in a row from 1989-1996? that's pretty impressive, along with the 500 wins! congrats coach!
  16. yes, the wc lady cats will definitely be in a coin toss situation. with a win vs. stown, the flip will be with cwood for 2nd/3rd. with a loss to stown, the flip will be with pc for 3rd/4th. you are right in that the flip for 2nd/3rd really doesn't matter that much (2nd may get more all-dist. picks) b/c those two teams would play each other in the 2nd round anyway. the flip for 3rd/4th means the 4th seed will play stown in the semis. this is the first year in a long time i can remember all 4 teams being this good. the tourney really could go to any of the top 4 teams; it just depends on who's playing good that week...
  17. this is a huge game for the trojanettes. how many years has it been since they won the seasonal crown? unless they won in '96 or '97, has it really been 16 years (1990) since their last title? they have really been playing good lately, so this may be their year. this game's winner may also determine the district 12a mvp--if cwood wins does andrews get it? or if stown wins does franks get it? what's your thoughts? will the mvp come off the #1 team or is it possible for weatherly to sneak up and get it?
  18. According to an observer at the Clifton/Hampshire girls' game last night, Clifton held a two-point lead late in the game when they inbounded under Hampshire's goal. One of the Clifton players mistakenly shot on Hampshire's goal and made the shot to tie the game, but was fouled on the shot. She then went to her own end and made the ensuing free throw to seal the victory. Is this the craziest ending to a game you've ever heard or what? Can anyone back up the story? I'd love to hear more details...

  20. Wayne County High School will host its first ever alumni game on Saturday, November 12. Any former WCHS players (girls or boys) should contact Coach David Byrd at 931.722.5285 to sign up. Should be great fun...
  21. i think it is 240 instead of 420. either way, the road will fork--take the left fork.
  22. thanks for the kind words reno911. i know coach byrd will appreciate them! just trying to figure out who you are--would you double down with a soft 14 and a 5 showing? if you would then i think i know who you are....give me some insight...
  23. while the drive to mt. pleasant sure would be shorter, it is not so bad to go to eagleville b/c they go all out in hosting the tournament. their people do a GREAT job of putting it on. they act like they really want you to feel welcome, that they're not there working b/c they are being forced to, and the hospitality room is AWESOME! mt. pleasant didn't have that much food in 7 nights last week. the hosp. room was also decorated nicely with huge player pics of the diff. teams on the walls. very classy!
  24. hey thelma good to read you on here again! yes, we won last night. we didn't play great as our leading scorer only had 2, but we'll definitely take a "w" no matter what the outcome. a lot of people may think i'm crazy, but i'm going with your team all the way baby. i think they can do it. as far as the significant other, he claims he never gets on coacht, so i don't think he would know how to reply or post. i just have to keep him filled in on all the controversy that gets started on this board!!! hope to see you in eagleville this week...
  25. u r right. shelby burchell from ca. as an 8th grader last year she broke the school record for homeruns at a tradition-rich softball school. she plays catcher and can probably go to any college she wants in a few years. mvp of the dist. tourney as an 8th grader...
