  1. Tennessee High wins 68-50 in a game much closer than the final score. Elizabethton cut the lead to 4 with 4 minutes left before a bizarre technical foul launched a game ending 14 point run by the Vikings. Young cylones played well and Watkins of Tennessee High is a great player.
  2. Brutus, the Cyclones cut Tennessee High's lead to 4 with 4 minutes to play and had a rebound secured and appeared to be fouled and headed to the line with a chance to cut the lead to 2. A bizarre reversal of the call sent Tennessee High to the line instead resulting in a technical. Tennessee high drained all 4 free throws, scored on the awarded possession and stretched their lead to 10. They then scored the final 8 points against a deflated Cyclone squad. Needless to say the 18 point final margin is misleading. The Cyclones played without Baughman, and Tanya Dykes only played the 1st quarter before succumbing to the flu. At times the Cyclones had 3 freshmen and a sophomore on the floor and still went toe to toe with one of the best AAA teams in East Tennessee, so I do not expect them to rollover for the Watauga Conference.
  3. North Greene shocked Unaka Friday night. Please give us some game details.
  4. Moody was Central's best player by far. Not only did they lose her 17 points, but in losing her toughness, defense, ballhandling, and leadership it probably equates to a 25 point difference. With Moody it would have been a close game, obviously without her it was no contest.
  5. Add Elizabethton to AA poll. Injuries and tough early schedule have contributed to early 3-2 record.
  6. Just looking for predictions or comments about this game between a good AAA team and a good AA team.
  7. Gentlemen, getlemen. Let us see if this dispute, which reeks of Communism, can be resolved privately. I think what we have here "is a simple failure to communicate."
  8. Hello Brutus. Rikki is making remarkable progress and may be cleared for the Happy Valley game next week, although Coach Wilson may opt to hold her out so as not to rush her and risk reinjury. The Hampton win was huge, as was the emergence of Pietrowski(19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 3 steals). The 6'2" freshman gives the Cyclones another major weapon making Baughman even more dangerous as she will see fewer doubleteams upon her return.
  9. Elizabethton has a tremendous group led by 6'2" post Michaela Pietrowski. Marti Bush 5'11" post, Victoria Hopson 5'8' wing, and guards Brianne Gouge, Brittany Smith, and Casey Crockett look to make the Cyclones future a bright one.
  10. Elizabethton has 5'10" Junior forward Rikki Baughman, 5'7" Junior guard Valnessha Redd, and 6'2' Freshman post Michaela Pietrowski. All three players have college futures.
  11. Unicoi county is the team to beat until somebody does it. Elizabethton and Sullivan Central have the best chance, and Hampton and Happy Valley are also dangerous. Look for District 1 to be a cat fight all season.
  12. A beautiful thing happened Wednesday night in Bristol. T.A.Dugger[Elizabethton] had just completed an undefeated 18-0 season with a 2-1 victory in the bottom of the 7th inning against arch rival Unicoi Co.[15-3]. Historically, there has been a lot of bad blood in this rivalry, especially between the parents, coaches, and fans. As the two teams sat waiting for the conclusion of the consolation game on an adjacent field the previously unthinkable occurred. To the amazement of the coaches, parents, and fans the two teams spontaneously merged, sat in a large circle, sat down Cyclone/Patriot/Cyclone, grasped hands, and began playing games! Despite the rivalry, the history, and the emotions of the just completed title game these kids displayed the type of true sportsmanship we really need in sports. Maybe we adults can learn a lesson from these remarkable girls , WHAT IT REALLY IS ALL ABOUT!
  13. Elizabethton's Valnessha Redd(SOPH)won the State long-jump as a freshmen. She also placed in the triple jump and is a legit threat to take the pentathlon. She also excels on the Lady Cyclone's sub-state basketball team. The sky is the limit for this tremendous athlete.
  14. Pigeon Forge and Elizabethton return solid teams and will make some noise in East Tennessee. South Greene is always a factor. Don't count out Unicoi County, and Sullivan Central is on the verge of breaking lose.
  15. East Tennessee has several good teams. Unicoi County is the team to beat. T.A. Dugger is 7-0 and has a solid team. Science Hill, Indian Trail, and Hunter also have good teams.
  16. East Tennessee should be a fight. District 1 has Unicoi Co.(losing 2 seniors), Elizabethton(returning 4 starters and bringing in one of the best freshmen classes in the state), and a solid Sullivan Central team(also returning 4 starters). District 2 still has a dangerous South Greene team and a quality returning intact Pigeon Forge squad. I predict Elizabethton and Pigeon Forge will make the substate and possibly get to the state.

    Cyclones

I believe you Ridgeway fans may be a touch overconfident. We will show up ready. You better be!
  18. We at Elizabethton knew AE was good and would have loved to see them knock off JC. I still say Sammons and Brazelton are as good a 1-2 punch as any AA duo in the State. Good job representing East TN AE! Hope to see you next year.
  19. Charles Peters of Elizabethton is a well-rounded Freshman and key sixth man on their state tournament team.
  20. The Lady Roadrunners withstood a furious Cyclone comeback which actually saw Elizabethton take a 52-51 lead before Sammons and Brazelton took over the game in the final 3 minutes. Congratulations to both teams and Good Luck to AE at the state tournament.
  21. Elizabethton's Rikki Baughman and Valnessha Redd are as good a pair of sophmores as you will find in East Tennessee, maybe statewide.
  22. Central's top 4 players are sophmores. Elizabethton returns 4 starters, including super Sophs Rikki Baughman and Valnessha Redd, and will bring in a great freshmen class coming off a runner-up finish in TSSAA sectional. Unicoi also returns 3 starters. Hampton and Happy Valley will also be solid next season. Don't look for District 1 to let up anytime soon!
  23. Are we so sure District 1 is so weak now. Ask Pigeon Forge, Claiborne Co., and Mighty South Greene! District 1 takes 3 of 4 for the second straight year! Can you say OVERRATED!!!
  24. You have a fine and very physical team. I would like to see your team and Elizabethton's make the state tournament to represent District1!
