  1. The Tullahoma boys cross country team dominated the Macon Co Invitational today in Lafayette. The Cats finished first by a wide margin over second play LaVergne and third play Murf. siegel. Tullahoma had five runners who finished in the top 14. There were 14 schools in the boys meet. Coach David Muckles team has finished first in both meets they have run. They are the defending Region champions.
  2. Congratulations Franklin Co. If you can give the same effort the rest of the season, I think you can make the play-offs. It has been a good run for Tullahoma and ya'll were overdue. Best of luck the rest of the way.
  3. I was very sorry to hear about Adam's injury. I certainly hope he can get over this injury in time for baseball. I think he's a fine young man and wish him the best.
  4. Congratulations to White Co. They beat Tullahoma fair and square 28-27. It was a big win for the White Co football team and a tough loss for Tullahoma. Tullahoma travels to Winchester this Friday nite to play Franklin Co, who lost a tough game to Father Ryan 20-19. This one could be interesting. Although not a Region game, its a big rivalry. Good luck to White Co against Cookeville next Friday and I hope they represent our Region well. They are a much improved team from last season.
  5. The Cats are Tullahoma and they have the lead and will kick-off at 7pm at White Co Sat nite. I definitely think the team that's behind in this situation has the advantage.
  6. Tullahoma's game with White Co at Tullahoma was suspended with 3:22 left in the third quarter and the Cats up by nine. According to the TSSAA, both coaches have to agree on how and where to finish the game and White Co wouldn't agree to come back to Tullahoma. Tullahoma will now travel to White Co to finish the game or it would be no contest. Kick-off will be at 7pm. Since, it is a Region game, the game needs to be finished. I think the score was 24-15 and Tullahoma has possession somewhere on their end of the field. Tullahoma has 6 away games already on the schedule and now its seven. I can understand, Tullahoma not wanting to travel to Sparta to finish a home game, but I also can understand, White Co not wanting to travel to Tullahoma, two days in a row. It's a no win situation for both teams.
  7. A very good win for Grundy Co tonite over Page 26-14. It was closer than the score indicated. Grundy only had a 4 pt lead with a little over 2 minutes to play and Page had the ball. I thought Grundy Co, for an opening game was well prepared. I think they need to work on the passing game. They had receivers open, but couldn't connect. It was a little hot on the mountain last nite, but the Jackets seemed to be in good physical condition. I was wondering why the Page band left early in the second half. Was it because there is school tomorrow? Well, its school tomorrow for the football players also. I enjoyed the game and I'm glad Grundy won the game. I got to see several old friends, including Mike Holt, the new boys bkb coach at Grundy and Shaq, the girls softball coach. The chain gang did well, except for a few times that Rooster got caught up in the game. Once again, congratulations Grundy Co for your opening nite win and good luck against Sequatchie Co next Thursday nite.
  8. The Tullahoma Wildcats lost to Hendersonville 14-12 this evening. The Wildcats looked much better, especially on defense, againt the Comandoes. Tullahoma went for a td at the Hendersonville 4 yd line. The Cats could have possibly won with a field goal, 15-14. The Wildcats looked much better this evening since the scrimmage with Lincoln Co a week ago. Tullahoma goes to Murfreesboro Tuesday to scimmage Oakland and wraps the pre-season scimmages next Friday at home with Giles Co.
  9. I talked with a friend who was at the scrimmage and he told me he left when the first stringers were taken out and Coffee Co was up 26-21. I was at the Tullahoma-Hendersonville scrimmage which the Comandos won 14-12. Tullahoma was at the Hendersonville 4 yd line at one point and went for a td. Had they kicked a field goal they could have won the scrimmage at Hendersonville 15-14. The Wildcats looked much better than the previous scrimmage at Lincoln Co.
  10. I remember one time, years ago, when Warren Co High School had the same rule about now allowing live radio broadcasts of high school football. I was calling the games for Tullahoma High School at the time and we taped the game, quarter by quarter. We had rented a motel room locally and at the end of each quarter, someone would rush the tape over to the motel and we would play the tape from the motel room. It was actually tape delayed, but only for 30 minutes. Would that be legal, under Coach Colquettes rules, to do at Grundy Co games? I agree with many others who have posted here, that the rule is a little old fashioned. To be able to do that at Grundy, I suppose you would have to rent a motel room in Monteagle. Scott Shasteen and myself, currently do the Tullahoma games on 101.5 FM in Manchester and I know that Tullahoma fans support the Wildcats in large numbers for road games and the ones that listen on the radio, who for various reasons can't attend the games, really appreciate being able to listen on the radio. Are internet only broadcasts permissable at Grundy? Tullahoma games are on the radio and internet. Would Coach Colquette allow live radio games, if Grundy Co High School received a broadcast rights fee? I know several of the Grundy Co coaches and hope they have a fine season, but the school does need to abolish that rule, in my opinion.
  11. Current athletic director and former baseball coach at Tullahoma High School for 29 years, scored his first hole in one on Thursday, July 2nd at Dogwood golf course in Bryant, Al. He hit a 7 iron on the par 3, 3rd hole and this historic event was witnessed by myself, Binns Jordan and 2 other baseball officials, Steve Trussler and Jody Hargis. It was only fitting he did this in Alabama, since he is a Bama fan and has a son who graduated from the Univ. of Alabama. He saluted a picture of Bear Bryant in the clubhouse as we departed.

    hole in one

On Thursday, July 2nd at Dogwood golf course in Bryant, Al, athletic director and former baseball coach at Tullahoma High School, scored his first hole in one on the par 3, 153 yard 3rd hole with a 7 iron. Witnesses to this historic event were myself, Binns Jordan along with 2 other baseball officials, Steve Trussler and Jody Hargis. It was only fitting he did this in Alabama, since he's a Bama fan and had a son graduate from the Univ. of Alabama. He saluted a picture of Bear Bryant in the clubhouse as we departed.
  13. Tullahoma travels to Oakland Monday for a Region softball game. Does anyone know the game time? The Tullahoma coach would like to know.
  14. Hold on everyone, the 8AAA tourney has been revised again. Now there will be 3 games played tomorrow (Thur) at Coffee Co and no games at Tullahoma. The first game will be around 2pm with Tullahoma playing Lawrence Co. The second game, starting around 4:30pm will be Lincoln Co vs Columbia and the third game, beginning around 7:30pm or 8pm will be the loser of Lincoln Co and Columbia and the winner of Tullahoma and Lawrence Co. Coach Jones of Coffee Co said everyone seemed to be in agreement with this set-up and the only change might be the 2pm game could start at 2:30pm.
  15. The 8AAA baseball tourney will try to resume tomorrow {Thur} at two sites. Columbia and Lincoln Co, the only two undefeated teams, will play at 4pm at Coffee Co and in the losers bracket, Lawrence Co will play Tullahoma at 4pm in Tullahoma. The loser of the Columbia-Lincoln Co game will travel to Tullahoma and play the winner of the Tullahoma-Lawrence Co game at approximately 7:30 or 8pm, as long as we don't get much more rain.

    8-AAA

Lincoln Co beat Franklin Co in the 8AAA play-in game 7-3 in Winchester. The Falcons will now face regular season champion, Coffee Co in the first round of the District Tourney, Sat. at Coffee Co High School in Manchester. The game was scheduled to start at 6pm tonite, but was delayed by rain and didn't get underway until after 8:30pm.
  17. Bobby Bratton is MVP and Youngblood of Coffee Co is pitcher or the year.
  18. In a district game that has been postponed twice, Forrest beat Moore Co in Lynchburg 3-2.
  19. Lipscomb won the Middle School State Invitational tourney today over Dickson, 7-5. Earlier today, Lipscomb beat Goodpasture and Dickson defeated siegel to advance to the championship. The tourney was played in McMinnville with the finals at Warren Co High School.
  20. Webb at Unionville cancelled............LaVergne at Shelbyville cancelled...........Forrest at Moore Co cancelled and rescheduled for Mon 4/28 at 2pm
  21. Congratulations to Coach Jones and staff and team for winning the regular season 8AAA championship and an automatic berth in the Region tournament. The incentive for winning the tournament would be to host a first round Region game. If Coach Jones doesn't get coach of the year, then they need to quit giving the award. The Red Raiders team and coaches have been a class act this season. Good Luck in the District tourney and Region.
  22. It is my understanding, if two teams are tied for first at the end of the regular season and these two teams split the season series with each other, there is no automatic bid and the top two teams in the tourney go to the Region. If Shelbyvile were to end up tied with Coffee Co, then Coffee Co would get the automatic bid because they swept the season series with Shelbyville.
  23. Shelbyville was in third place going into this weeks district action and the Golden Eagles win two over Lawrence Co and Coffee Co loses two to Columbia and Shelbyville is now in first place. Shelbyville faces Tullahoma next week in a big series and if the Cats can sweep, the district race will really be crazy. Lawrence Co plays Coffee Co also in a big two game series and these two teams are now tied for second place. Shelbyville has two losses and Lawrence Co and Coffee Co have three and Tullahom has four losses in district play. The question is now, who will finish 5th, 6th and 7th. The 5th place team makes the district tourney and the 6th and 7th teams have a play-in game to get in the tourney and Franklin Co, Columbia and Lincoln Co are fighting to win that 5th spot. Its been a fun season and the best is yet to come.
  24. Shelbyville won 2 district games over Franklin Co in Winchester. The Golden Eagles won the first, 11 to 7 and the second game 3-2.
  25. Columbia at Tullahoma, 1 game at 4:30pm.............Linccoln Co at Coffee Co, 2 varsity games starting at 5pm...............Blackman at Warren, 1 game at 4pm................Shelbyville at Franklin Co, 2 varsity games starting at 4pm...............Columbia St at Motlow, one 9inning game at 2pm...........Franklin Co has added a DH with Huntland on Sun. 4/13 starting at 3pm.
